Some pilots were sent a mid-flight bulletin announcing the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday afternoon.

The note, issued through the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, offered a choice on whether to announce the death of the monarch to crew and passengers on board.

According to an image shared by a British pilot on Twitter, the bulletin read: "ATTN all aircraft. To be read at your discretion it is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this very difficult time. Sent 17592/08."

The pilot, who goes by the username Katie Pilot, did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Britain's longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away in Balmoral Castle on September 8. The news was first announced by the royal family on Twitter, quickly followed by media outlets. 

The pilot said who shared the image said she received the news while flying "somewhere over France," adding it was a "somewhat surreal and extremely sad moment."

She said in a Twitter comment that she opted not to announce the Queen's death to the rest of the plane as the flight had on-board WiFi and the news was already making its way around the cabin.

A pilot on a British Airways flight traveling from Miami to London chose to utilize the plane's announcement system to relay the news. 

In a video taken by a passenger and reported by E! News, the pilot can be heard telling people mid-flight: "This is an incredibly sad day for all of us on British Airways. Our thoughts are with the entire royal family as we grieve her immeasurable loss." 

He can also be heard inviting passengers to hold a moment of silence for the late Queen.

UPDATE ONE Epic Games has now confirmed that the Fortnite 7.40 update has been delayed and will not be releasing at the previously mentioned 9am, GMT, time.

More is expected to be announced in the coming hours.

ORIGINAL: Fortnite patch 7.40 is being released tomorrow, February 13, and will include some changes to the stats system.

Epic Games has announced that due to issues with the current system, the dev team are hoping to make changes.

According to a recent post, Fortnite stats tracker doesn’t work across all platforms, making it hard to provide the best data.

This has led to Epic Games making changes, starting with the release of the next Fortnite update.

Here’s more from the Fortnite team, who revealed in a new statement: “It’s been a while since we’ve talked about stats so let’s dive right in. In the v7.40 update, we’ll be turning on Stats v2.

“The current stats system database couldn’t scale properly for all platforms so we’re going to upgrade the existing one to include a variety of info and track player progress better over time.

“Let us know what you think of Stats v2 when it releases in the v7.40 update!”

So what exactly will be changing with Fortnite patch 7.40?

According to Epic Games, the new Stats Tracker system will do a better job with accessibility.

They also want to make it possible for all platforms to have access to in-game stats.

Here’s the rundown of the main changes coming with Stats V2:

  • The ability to track all of your play in one place and view it across all platforms.
  • This includes the ability for mobile and Switch players to view their stats in-game.
  • Breaking up stats by each individual Limited Time Mode.

As mentioned above, these changes are coming as part of Fortnite update 7.40.

Epic Games has announced this new update will be arriving tomorrow and will require server downtime.

So the new changes won’t be available until after 9am, GMT.

As with all new changes, there’s a chance that some parts of the new system will not work properly out the gates.

So there’s the chance of few more updates being needed to get everything right with Fortnite Stats.

Fans can expect more accessibility to stats on Fortnite Mobile becoming a major priority moving forward, including whatever other features Epic Games deems essential for the platform.

“We’re making a major shift internally to focus more on mobile issues,” Epic Games recently confirmed.

“We launched mobile controller support this past week in the v7.30 update and it has been awesome seeing all the folks sharing how they play, as well as feedback on the feel.

“You can expect additional controller feel improvements over the next few updates as we shift additional development efforts to tackling the key issues you’re experiencing.”

In a new update today, Bungie and Activision confirmed that they would be splitting their partnership over the Destiny series.

Bungie will now take over all responsibilities when it comes to the game franchise moving forward.

Activision has acknowledged that they are rescinding the rights to the Destiny property, with Bungie assuming full publishing rights.

Bungie has confirmed that the current roadmap for Destiny 2 remains unchanged, with the current list of content still being released in 2019.

A full statement from Bungie on the big changes for both companies can be found below:

“When we first launched our partnership with Activision in 2010, the gaming industry was in a pretty different place. As an independent studio setting out to build a brand new experience, we wanted a partner willing to take a big leap of faith with us. We had a vision for Destiny that we believed in, but to launch a game of that magnitude, we needed the support of an established publishing partner.

Cruise fans can already sort out their next holiday with a number of cruise lines announcing their newest routes. P&O and Royal Caribbean have revealed their 2019 sale for Britons wanting to travel next year for a bargain. Any travellers looking further ahead should check out Norwegian and Carnival who have already announced their 2020 and even 2021 routes. Which cruise liners currently have a bargain and what routes have been released for 2020?

Norwegian

The cruise liner has announced its 2020 and 2021 itineraries for Britons looking far in advance for their next holiday.

Norwegian Joy will sail from Miami for the first time in 2020, along with Norwegian Encore.

Itineraries include 14 days through South America and seven days through West Caribbean – these are available to book now.

Royal Caribbean

The large Royal Caribbean sale includes 2019 cruise holidays that require just a £75 deposit upon booking.

Bookings up until March 4 include the world’s largest cruise ship Symphony of the Seas, as well as the private Royal Caribbean island CocoCay.

Current destinations on offer are the Caribbean, Europe and Asia, with sailings from Southampton.

P&O

Holidays with P&O in 2019 can be found on offer until February 28.

As part of their Calling Life’s Explorers campaign, cruises to the Caribbean, Dubai and Europe are on offer.

Prices include £199 to Belgium and £599 around Northern Europe, along with a Transatlantic Caribbean tour from £1,049 and a Northern Lights cruise from £1,029.

Extra guests can even be added to a cruise booking for just £1, although those feeling the pinch can put a deposit down now of just five per cent.

The cruise liner will also be getting rid of its daily charge from May 2019, making holidays more affordable.

Carnival Cruise

The cruise liner has launched its first cruise from San Francisco in 2020.

Four new ships will also be launched next year, with Carnival Panorama and Carnival AirShip.

Princess Cruises will also include Sky Princess and Costa Smeralda, who are owned by the same Carnival Corporation.

A number of cruise liners, such as MSC, have been forced to change their 2019 and 2020 schedules.

Following a new tourist tax for cruise passengers in Amsterdam, the cruise liner has announced a change from Amsterdam to Rotterdam for passengers.

Srivaddhanaprabha was picked up from the pitch at around 8.30pm on Saturday evening following Leicester’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.

His helicopter spiralled out of control shortly after and crashed into the car park outside of the ground before bursting in to flames.

And Leicester have released a statement confirming he died along with four more people.

The club did not confirm the names of the other passengers but Leicestershire Police have revealed they were Srivaddhanaprabha’s staff members Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and passenger Izabela Roza Lechowicz.

Srivaddhanaprabha took over the club in 2010 and helped guide them to promotion to the Premier League in 2014.

After avoiding relegation in their first season back in the top flight in 2014-15, they shocked the world by lifting the Premier League crown against the odds in the next.

In 2016-17, they embarked on an historic first-ever Champions League campaign, where the Foxes punched above their weight once again as they reached the quarter-final of Europe’s top competition.

They have since gone on too become an established top-flight club.

And tributes have poured in from all around the football world in recognition of the work he had done at Leicester.

Foxes striker Jamie Vardy, who was top scorer in their Premier League title-winning campaign, posted a touching tribute on his Instagram account alongside a picture of himself with Srivaddhanaprabha.

The distraught star said: “Struggling to find the right words….but to me you are legend, an incredible man who had the biggest heart, the soul of Leicester City Football Club.

“Thank you for everything you did for me, my family and our club. I will truly miss you…. may you rest in peace…#theboss

Left-Back Ben Chilwell has come through the youth ranks during Srivaddhanaprabha’s tenure and is now a key part of the first team.

And he said: “I can’t believe it, I am heartbroken to hear that no one survived the crash yesterday.

“Vichah was one of the best people you could wish to meet, making you happy made him happy, he was away smiling and laughing.

“What he did not just this football club but for Leicester as a city is incredible.

“he has brought us all together. So now we must stay together as a city and achieve what he knew we could.”

James Maddison was signed in the summer by Srivaddhanaprabha.

He said: “Devastated and heartbroken at the news that no one survived the helicopter crash yesterday

“Life isn’t fair sometimes. A wonderful thoughtful man who lived and breathed Leicester City Football Club. Rest in Peace Boss.”

This coming Tuesday, Apple will host its second live product announcement even of the fall. While September’s event focused on three new iPhone models and an updated Apple Watch, we expect this event to include updates to the iPad Pro that would add new power user features and bring the device closer in design to the company’s latest iPhones. We wouldn’t be surprised to see some new Macs, too.

The event will take place at the Howard Gilman Opera House and Brooklyn Academy of Music. The last event was at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, but it’s not unusual for the company to branch out to new locations that fit the theme of the products being introduced. For example, the company introduced its education-targeted iPads at a school in Chicago earlier this year.

To that point, creative work seems to be the implied focus of the products coming this week. There’s the venue, yes, but Apple also accompanied members of the press’ invitation with the words “there’s more in the making” and a series of artists’ renditions of its logos in various styles, pictured here.

SpaceX announced last week that it booked its first private passenger for a flight around the Moon in its BFR spacecraft, and today the company will share who that is.
