Boxer Amir Khan has taken a somewhat bizarre route on his latest barrage of insults to fellow Brit Kell Brook, telling the Sheffield native to open up about rumors of him being gay.

It seems inevitable that Khan and Brook will meet inside the squared circle before long, and in advance of the match-up between the two domestic rivals, Olympic silver medalist Khan has opened up by throwing insults before they throw down in the ring.

In an interview with English tabloid The Sun, Khan brought up allegations regarding Brook’s sexuality in a presumed attempt to get a verbal one-up on his rival ahead of a potential fight next year.

“There’s talks about [Brook] being gay,” Khan said. “I mean, if you are a real man, come out and say ‘yeah, you know, I’m gay’ and it is what it is. Come out and tell the truth. Speak out about it. Don’t be afraid.”

“If he is a confident man he needs to come out and tell the world who he really is, because people wanna know about him. People wanna know who is this Kell Brook,” he added.

Doubling down on the claims, Khan said that he suspected that a knife attack suffered by Brook four years ago was related to his sexuality.

Brook was attacked in Tenerife four years ago by man wielding a machete and was left requiring 32 metal staples in a significant wound on his thigh.

“Tell us what happened when you got stabbed,” he said. “I mean, was it because tried it on with some poor guy? He tried to get it on with some poor guy. I mean these are things that have been told from his own camp.

“I mean I wasn’t there to see it but I’ve been told and he’s living a crazy life. So maybe that’s why he’s dying for this fight against me, because he knows he needs that quick payday. Let’s see,” Khan said.

According to The Sun, Brook declined a riposte to Khan’s comments preferring instead to punish his opponent in the ring, he said.

Brook holds a record of 38-2 and has rebounded with two wins in his last two fights after successive defeats to Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr. Meanwhile, Khan owns a 33-4 record but hasn’t been defeated since a May 2016 reverse to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

In January of this year Khan and Brook came face to face in the ring after Khan’s first-round win against Phil Lo Greco in Liverpool. Brook, who was part of the fight’s commentary team, entered the ring after the fight and squared off with Khan, who promised to “fight and beat” his rival.

Amir Khan is about to face Samuel Vargas at the Birmingham Arena.

And fans will be hoping it lasts longer than Khan’s last fight, which clocked in at just 40 seconds.

Khan only just made the 10st 7lb weight limit earlier this week, and actually had to remove his boxer shorts to make weight.

The Bolton born boxer hopes another victory will lead to a title fight in the future.

“I’ve trained like it’s a world title fight as I know where this fight can take me,” Khan said earlier this week.

Vargas, meanwhile, has a record of 29 wins, two draws and only three defeats. That’s one fewer than the four defeats suffered by Khan in his professional career.

And Vargas certainly is confident going into tonight’s fight, describing Khan as an old man.

“I know in my heart that he knows that if I touch him he will get hurt,” Vargas said. “There is no doubt in my mind I will be victorious on Saturday night. I don’t care how I do it. I think he’s an old man, over the hill and he’s been damaged a lot.”

The 31-year-old has been absent from the sport for almost two years since losing in gruesome fashion to Canelo Alvarez in 2016, jumping up two divisions to challenge for the middleweight world title.

Despite boxing well for the first half of the fight, he was knocked out in brutal fashion in the sixth round as the Mexican’s physical superiority proved too much to handle.

“The reason I took the Canelo fight is that I got quite desperate,” he explained to Sky Sports this week.

“I really wanted a big super fight and I wanted my name up on the Vegas strip. It’s always been my dream.

“The mistake I made in there was my own fault. I dropped my left hand and I got caught over the top with Canelo’s right hand.

“I would rather be knocked out with one big shot instead of taking numerous punches and getting stopped that way, so I’m glad it was just that one shot.”

On Saturday night, the Bolton man will begin his quest to reclaim a world title when he takes on Canadian Lo Greco at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

And the former unified light-welterweight champion will have to do it without the help of long-time trainer Virgil Hunter, who has stepped away from the sport with undisclosed health problems.

Joe Goossen is the man who been has selected to replace veteran cornerman Hunter and Khan admitted he is feeling the nerves ahead of his return to the limelight.

“I am a little bit nervous but I know my fitness is right, I’ve trained hard for this,” he said.

“I do feel a lot better than I did at 28. I’m 31 now, I’m at the peak of my career, I know I have a bit left in me to come back.

“I want to win another world title, that’s what keeps me going.”

Speaking about his relationship with Goossen, Khan claimed the 64-year-old, who has trained the likes of Shane Mosley and Rafael Ruelas, has kept him sharp.

“He’s a trainer that’s always watching you. When I’m training he’ll always be watching me, I’ve seen videos of him just watching me,” he continued.

“He doesn’t take his eyes off me, seeing what mistakes I’m making, telling me whilst I’m training, ‘Amir your left hand’s dropping, your right hand’s dropping, keep your hands up higher’.

“It’s nice to have someone like him there, he’s experienced he’s trained some great champions in his day, and I still believe he’s a great trainer, I’m glad to have him here.”

Khan has not been in competitive action since May 2016, when he took on Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas and was knocked out in the sixth round.

The Brit drew plaudits for holding his own up to that point, but his boxing reputation has diminished since with a very public divorce and reconciliation with his wife, a Twitter spat with Anthony Joshua and an acrimonious attempt to negotiate a fight with Kell Brook.

By contrast, Saunders has revolutionised his career since a dismal performance, despite winning, against Artur Akavov in Glasgow in December 2016.

The 28-year-old has joined Dom Ingle’s gym in Sheffield and in his last outing produced a fine performance to beat David Lemieux on his home turf in Montreal.

The 44-year-old admitted he felt let down by Amir, 31, after believing they had formed a friendship during their time in the jungle.

The comedian called the father-of-one out for “lying” after seeing clips from the show when he left Australia.

Speaking about watching the footage back, Iain said: “The one that disappointed me the most was Amir because I thought Amir and I got quite close. 

“We were talking about going to Pakistan and stuff together,” he said, during an appearance on today’s Loose Women.

“Then I kind of saw some stuff afterwards where he was actually lying about me, so I was disappointed by that.”

However, the father-of-two vehemently denied he was bullied while appearing on the show, saying: “When I came out and there were all these stories of bullying, I don’t class it as bullying.

“People being slightly mean to me behind my back, I don’t call that bullying.”

Despite this, he said he was annoyed that some of the celebrities had accused him of playing a game, adding: “I was really disappointed that people had been saying things behind my back about a ‘game plan’ and that I wasn’t trying hard enough. 

“But when you’re in there you do go a bit nuts. Everyone’s hungry. You get so bored. You can have days of doing nothing.”

Meanwhile, Iain revealed that he frequently speaks to Rebekah Vardy and Dennis Wise, despite them both being accused of bullying him.

“I have spoken to Becky since, I’ve been speaking to Becky a lot on WhatsApp. I’ve been speaking to Dennis too.”

The professional boxer, Dennis Wise and Jamie Lomas were branded as “bullies” by fans of the ITV show after comments made towards Iain during his time in the jungle.

And the 31-year-old was quick to address those claims as he came in contact with the finalist on spin-off show Extra Camp. 

Presenter Scarlett Moffatt was talking to Jamie Lomas about his bromance with Amir and Dennis when the seventh evictee interrupted.

Last year’s Queen of the Jungle said: “One of the things I loved watching was your bromance with Amir and Dennis, you are definitely going to stay friends after this aren’t ya?”

“Definitely,” Amir shouted across the studio. “And Iain!”

Pointing towards the radio DJ, he continued: “We are not bullies mate.”

Iain appeared confused and stated: “I never used that word.”

“Anyway, we will talk about that later,” Amir replied.

The Olympic medalist’s comments infuriated those watching with many taking to Twitter to slam his choice of words.

One person wrote: “Amir darling the public are calling you bullies not Ian #extracamp.”

Another viewer commented: “Amir “we’re not bullies”. Someone is feeling guilty #ImACelebrity #ExtraCamp.”

“Yet again Amir trying to cover his back and blame other people for his mistakes #ExtraCamp,” added a third.

Amir Khan was hurled out of the jungle after finding himself in the bottow two with Jamie Lomas.

The Olympian has been at the centre of some of the biggest rows in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! camp, but still left smiling.

Of course, Ant and Dec couldn’t resist from grilling the 31-year-old over “Strawberry-gate”, arguably the biggest scandal to ever hit the jungle. 

“It seems you let Iain take most of the blame,” Ant stressed. 

“I was scared,” Amir grinned. “Iain, when he came into camp he didn’t have the best reputation so my campmates wold never expect me to do that, Iain pushed me to do it.”

Though, Amir seemed to forget that millions of viewers watched on as he conjured the plan to gobble up the Dingo Dollar Challenge prize himself. 

Ant continued: “Iain got most of the blame for it and it rumbled on of most of the time there.”

“Iain suffered more than me,” Amir admitted. “But because he was new in camp, the camp knew I wouldn’t do it.”

Audiences couldn’t believe their eyes as Amir still tried to justify his behaviour, despite being shown the footage for himself. 

“Can’t believe the footage was right there and he STILL tried to make it out to be all Ian like come on seriously???” gasped one viewer, which was followed by: “’m so glad ant and Dec gave Amir a hard time about the strawberries #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity.” 

A third smirked: “Anyone else notice the change on amirs face when ant & Dec asked him about his, Dennis’ and Jamie’s treatment of Iain? He was like oh s**t it was that obvious.” 

This amused fan teased: “Iain instigated it ? does Amir actually know how cameras work? #ImACelebrity.”

The Hollyoaks star has already come under fire for his behaviour toward Iain Lee.

However, the latest camp drama has seen him lock horns with Made In Chelsea star, Toff.

The trouble began when the campmates mistakenly thought the Bushtucker Trial would be the Cyclone Challenge traditionally undertaken by the last few contestants. 

They began to discuss who would go where in the task as Jamie said he thought they would be given five stars to balance on a slope with.

Amir insisted Toff and Jennie McAlpine should be placed at the bottom of the slope.

“I want to be higher, why I have to be two?” Toff insisted.

Jamie then piped up: “Dennis said that it was heavy ones that won’t get blown over.”

“Ok then, I’ll do two, but I hate the stereotypical stuff because I’m a girl,” Toff retorted.

Jamie confessed he wasn’t surprised at Toff’s reaction, describing her as a “tough cookie” and “feisty”.

Toff took to the Bush Telegraph to vent: “Nothing really annoys me apart from when the boys automatically assume that just because they are bigger than me, they are automatically stronger than me.”

She then continued ranting to Iain: “They have no idea how strong I am!”

The Bushtucker Trial was in fact revealed to be Toxic Trauma which Jamie and Toff teamed up to tackle.

Ant and Dec decided enough was enough and called out Amir for his behaviour toward Iain in tonight’s episode.

The comments came as the boxer was once again making cruel remarks toward the radio host.

Dec stated: “There’s loads of celebrities down here who will have done stuff they don’t want to be reminded of.”

He continued to jibe: “Remember the guy who shouted, ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ in the first trial?”

“Amir,” Ant replied.

Ant continued to list off several of Amir’s failings, noting how hypocritical he had been toward Iain.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to express their delight in the hosts’ comments.

One viewer wrote: “Ant and Dec slagging Amir off is the best thing to happen yet this series #ImACeleb.”

“Still find it funny that Ant and Dec don’t like Amir either, they’ve literally just spoken for the whole nation #ImACeleb,” said another.

Amir told Iain he had “f****d up a lot of things” when he entered the jungle a few days later than the original contestants.

Iain confessed in the Bush Telegraph that Amir’s comments made him feel “uncomfortable.”

The 35-year-old boxing ace, who reunited with his pregnant other half before entering the jungle last month following their very public split, spoke out about his role as a husband and father in a frank conversation with fellow campmate Ian Lee, 44.

“I still live a young bachelor’s life,” he confessed, adding: “Now it’s made me realise that I need to live a family life.

“I miss my daughter so I want to spend more time with them,” he continued, prompting Ian to chip in: “Especially after being away for five weeks.”

“One thing I know that it’s cleansing my body, being here,” Amir said. “It’s cleansing my head.

“Makes you realise a lot of things that you want in life, with your career and also your loved ones and how you want to change yourself as a person,” Amir explained. “I did wrong, I was messing around a lot.

“I don’t want to live that life,” he said. “I’ve for a good wife there.”

Amir and Faryal, 26, who are parents to two-year-old daughter Lamaisah, had a bitter break-up earlier this year, with the sportsman even accusing her of cheating on him with boxer Anthony Joshua.
