Antiques Roadshow is not only popular with British viewers but American too. During an episode of the PBS version, appraiser John Colasacco took a closer look at a beautiful sapphire and diamond ring which was over 100 years old. But how much was the piece worth should it go to auction in this day and age? The lady who had brought it along to the Roadshow told the expert: “I have a ring that I had inherited from my grandmother. “And other than I know it’s diamonds and a sapphire, I don’t know much about it. “I know that it’s inscribed; T.J.O.D. to A.L.O.D. December, or D-E-C, 25, 1913,” she added. John remarked: “It’s a nice Christmas gift.” READ MORE: Antiques Roadshow expert exposes enormous profit for Rolex watch “When I asked my father what my grandfather did– and it was actually my maternal grandfather– he said: ‘Oh, he was retired.’ And I said: ‘Retired from what?’” Fans saw the lady explain. “He said: ‘He was just retired.’” John the inspected the jewels and explained how the ring was formed: “The ring is a sapphire and diamond three-stone ring. It is signed by Tiffany and Company. “Looking at the stones, we can do weights by formula. Obviously, we can’t unmount the stones, so by formula, that centre sapphire is probably about three-and-a-half carats, and each one of those side diamonds is about one-and-a-half carats. “In this period, Tiffany would’ve only used the highest-quality stones [and] country of origin is very important. “I’ve shown my colleagues at the jewellery table, and we feel that there is a good chance that this might be a sapphire from Burma,” John revealed. “Also, in this period, we would not expect any treatments. It hasn’t been heated, so it came out of the ground like that, and that is very unusual. “In the Tiffany mounting, with the three-stone setting, it’s a very desirable ring. 1913, it’s nice to think that it could’ve been here at Rosecliff at a party one day.” As for how much the ring was worth, John said: “I think, at auction, if we sent the stone to a lab and could determine that it was a Burma sapphire with no heat, you might be looking at a value of $ 25,000 [£18,000] to $ 35,000 [£25,000] at auction.” Taken aback by its value, the owner exclaimed: “Oh, wow! Oh, my gosh.” “Now, if you walked into Tiffany’s and had to replace this ring, I don’t think you could replace it for under $ 100,000. It’s a really nice ring,” John added in reference to its insurance value. The guest replied: “Oh, my gosh. Thanks, Granddad! You made my day!” Flights welcome all sorts of people on board a plane and passengers often spot their fellow fliers doing intriguing things. Travellers on one plane couldn’t believe it when they spotted a man employing a clever travel hack. A hilarious photo of the incident was shared by Instagram account passengershaming. It shows a man apparently using the overhead light of his seat in an intriguing way. The photo captured him attempting to heat up a slice of pizza using the reading light. He can be seen reaching up towards the roof of the cabin with the pizza in his hand. The savvy passenger holds it close to the bright light in the hopes of warming up his meal. Other passengers can be seen in front of the traveller but don’t seem to have spotted his travel hack. In reality, it’s unlikely the cooking attempt worked, but Instagram users were nevertheless impressed. Instagram account passengershaming captioned the funny photo: “Heating up leftover pizza with an airplane reading light? Genius!!” They even included the entertaining hashtag “#pleasebesingleandDMme.” “The guy is a genius,” one person agreed. Another added: “So that’s how you get decent airplane food! #lifehacks.” Others Instagram users were less impressed, however, and pointed out that the act was rather unpleasant. “Ugh! The germs. The grease. The smell. Ugh,” one wrote. Another posted: “Gross! Cold pizza is way better than lukewarm!” This is far from the first time someone has spotted trying to use the plane amenities in an unusual way. A surprising viral video captured a woman carrying out a very bizarre activity on a plane. She was doing something most people would only ever do in private – but shows no shame for the unorthodox action. The woman was drying a pair of pants under the air vent on the aircraft ceiling. She was holding up the black and white underwear right next to the channel of air. On another occasion, a photo shared by passengershaming showed a woman trying to stave off the cold by wearing a transparent plastic bag over her head. This action is highly dangerous, making it alarming she has chosen such a rash way of keeping warm. Suffocation can happen when a plastic bag is out over the head because the plastic is flexible enough to form an airtight seal around the nose and mouth.

If you’re on a road trip traveling through Texas, Buc-ee’s looms large as a mythical highway oasis — and not just because of the endless signs along the road, telling travelers how many miles until the nearest location appears on the horizon.
Much like Pennsylvanians worship at the altar of Wawa, the gas-station chain Buc-ee’s is answer to hungry road trippers’ prayers across the Lone Star State.
Need gas? Buc-ee’s apparently has it cheap! Food? Chefs say their breakfast tacos are some of the best! Clothing? Per sources, Buc-ee’s t-shirts — featuring its iconic beaver mascot — are one of the trademarks of a cool Texas teen.
Despite the Texan obsession, most of the world has never even heard of Buc-ee’s. The chain, founded in 1982, has almost 40 locations.
We visited Buc-ee’s to see if it lived up to the hype. What we found was like nothing we’d ever seen before:

Steven Soderbergh has always been a filmmaker very open to praising fellow artists, and in a recent interview the Logan Lucky director sang the praises of George Miller‘s Mad Max: Fury Road. In a bit of effusive praise for Miller and his directorial skills, Soderbergh commented on how incredibly well-staged the action set pieces in the recent Mad Max sequel were, and how they left him awestruck. Read the Steven Soderbergh Fury Road thoughts below.
It feels weird to refer to a film that only came out 2 years ago as a “masterpiece,” but that truly seems like the correct classification for George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road. With his action-packed, high-octane cinematic spectacle, Miller put all of his contemporaries to shame, staging a movie overflowing with show-stopping moments.
And director Steven Soderbergh agrees. In a candid new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Soderbergh, who recently released Logan Lucky and has the experimental series Mosaic on the horizon, couldn’t say enough good things about Miller’s 2015 film. “I guarantee that the handful of people who are even in range of that, when they saw Fury Road, had blood squirting out of their eyes,” Soderbergh says. “The thing with George Miller, it’s not just that, he does everything really well.”
When asked if he storyboards for his films, Soderbergh replied in the negative, saying “The ability to stage well is a skill and a talent that I value above almost everything else.” He then went on to praise Fury Road:
“I just watched Mad Max: Fury Road again last week, and I tell you I couldn’t direct 30 seconds of that. I’d put a gun in my mouth. I don’t understand how [George Miller] does that, I really don’t, and it’s my job to understand it. I don’t understand two things: I don’t understand how they’re not still shooting that film and I don’t understand how hundreds of people aren’t dead.”
The Oceans 11 filmmaker goes on to add, “We are talking about the ability in three dimensions to break a sequence into a series of shots in which no matter how fast you’re cutting you know where you are geographically. And each one is a real shot where a lot of things had to go right.” The filmmaker is of course referring to the multiple jaw-dropping action scenes on display in Fury Road, the majority of which were filmed in practical ways, with real people and vehicles, while most modern day movies of this kind tend to lean heavily on CGI. Soderbergh shared similar thoughts on Miller on his Twitter account back in 2015:
Once again, George Miller schools everyone on how to stage action. Couldn't match him if you put a gun in my mouth.

Soderbergh is one of the most interesting filmmakers in the biz, frequently sharing interesting, insightful thoughts on filmmaking as a whole, often on his own website. I strongly urge you to watch this informative talk he gave on the state of modern cinema in general. The talk itself is four years old, but everything he says there still holds true today.

Hoopla is advertising a terrace house for sale in Lancashire, but its modest appearance on the outside is very deceiving.
The house on Cotton Street in Accrington is currently for sale for £100,000.
But while it looks like a home adequate for a single person or a couple, the property is apparently best suited to a “growing family”.
You may be surprised by what’s actually inside.
See inside this “beautifully derelict” one-bedroom house that is up for sale for £2.5 million.
Mews properties houses were originally used to house staff and horses before becoming popular among businesses such as garages.
But over the past 30 to 40 years they have become extremely desirable family homes, with buyers loving the quirky designs and cobbled streets.
As a result, there are fewer and fewer opportunities for buyers to put their own stamp down, but one specialist estate agency believes it has found one of the last unmodernised mews homes in Prime Central London.
The hitmaker, who previously worked with The Beatles and Robert Palmer, caused a stir on Twitter with her youthful appearance.
The micro-blogging site was inundated with comments about her “amazing” complexion, after host Lorraine Kelly informed that she was 72.
Two users tweeted: “72?! Easily pass for 52 #ElkieBrooks #lorraine,” and: “Elkie Brooks looks amazing #Lorraine.”
A third shocked post continued: “Flippin’ heck, Elkie Brooks is 72-years-old! She looks amazing! #Lorraine.”
“Great to see Elkie Brookes on #lorraine. Still sounds and looks terrific,” another person remarked, while a fifth added: “@ElkieOfficial looking fit for 72! #Lorraine.”
The “British Queen of the Blues” was on the ITV show to promote her new greatest hits album, which is out today.
Remarking on the throwback picture on the cover, Elkie commented: “I’ve aged a little bit since then.”
Lorraine then complimented her and asked if she could reveal how old she was. She said: “I’m proud of being 72, you’d only have to google me.”
On how she stays looking young, Elkie revealed: “I eat well, I’m not fond of meat, I just eat things I really like – fruit and vegetables.
“It keeps you going. You’ve got to be mobile, I have Elkie’s little gym with a skipping rope… it helps the voice.”
Lorraine airs weekdays from 8.30am on ITV1.

NRL: Turmoil is one word to describe last season for the Wests Tigers. Matt Ballin hardly played due to injury but he hopes to add some stability, replacing Robbie Farah as hooker.

WESTS Tigers forward Elijah Taylor shakes his head at the fact Ivan Cleary is still without a head coaching job more than a year after being sacked by Penrith.
Cleary’s name continues to be among the first mentioned for the next job that come on the market.
Ironically it could be Taylor’s new coach at the Wests Tigers who feels the most heat. Taylor, Paul McGregor and Des Hasler are all off contract at season’s end.

Cleary has made no secret of the fact he wants to get back into fulltime coaching even though he works as a consultant to the NRL to assist referees and the match review committee.
Elijah Taylor, who will line up in Friday night’s Campbelltown trial against North Queensland, now has his own career back on track, where the 26-year-old former Kiwi international said he has “loved” playing under Jason Taylor.

He also opened up on how Cleary helped him through his own crisis at the Panthers.
“Oh man, he is a great coach,” Taylor said, when reminded Cleary was still hunting a job.
“It is a tough sport we are in. It is unforgiving. People are very fickle.

“You are Dally M coach one year and next year you are fired.”
Cleary coached Taylor at the Warriors and was responsible for bringing him to the Panthers with a view to one day making him captain.
But Cleary’s shock axing to make way for Anthony Griffin ultimately led to Taylor’s own demise.
“If you asked me in 2015 would I leave the Panthers I would have said there is no way,” Taylor said. “I loved the club.
“I still love all the boys. A change of coach, a change of opinion, they wanted their lock to be more of a prop kind of role. Aggressive carries, big metres.

“When I play lock here I play a totally different role. I was doing my best to change my game to suit the game plan. But it was round eight and I was still playing reserve grade.
“It was a pretty difficult time, mentally it was very tough.”
With Cleary’s advice and support, Taylor backed his ability that led him to the Tigers.
“He supported me through that time. You could talk to him, you could have a conversation, and you wouldn’t feel awkward. You talk about family. I look back at 2015, they got rid of Lewie Brown, they got rid of Sika Manu, those are Kiwi international players.

“I was the next one to go and after me it was Chicko (James Segeyaro) and Sowie (Jamie Soward). There obviously was a plan to get rid of people that Ivan brought. But that is footy. I couldn’t control that.”
Taylor said he had rediscovered his worth playing under Jason Taylor. He labelled the way the coach had changed focus during pre-season training to game specific drills “an eye opener”.
“It has been refreshing to get that opportunity to work on skills and what you want to build on your game. I am not used to doing that during pre-season. Still getting flogged, but in a more specific way. It is smarter.”
