Kiev’s belligerent policies pose a “constant” security threat to Europe, Greece’s alternate foreign minister said, adding that the last thing Europe needs is another “hotspot of tension.” “It is true that Ukraine is a constant problem for the European Security System,” George Katrougalos told the Greek Kokkino radio broadcaster when asked to comment on the recent maritime incident in the Black Sea when a group of Ukrainian ships illegally crossed into the Russian territorial waters. He added that “the last thing that we need is another hotspot of tension … at the heart [of Europe]” and vowed to raise this issue at a meeting of the EU foreign ministers. The minister also referred to Ukraine as a “troubled and complicated” area, adding that the crisis there could be resolved only through “respect for the international law” and “belief that [all the] differences can be resolved only through dialog.” He then called for the implementation of the Minsk Agreements by saying that the accords provide all the necessary “political steps to bring the situation back to normal.” Speaking about his country’s relations with Russia, the Greek diplomat called a recent meeting between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and President Vladimir Putin an “absolute success,” adding that the two nations enhanced their cooperation and put their relations on a “better basis.” It is important not to let any differences become a defining element of bilateral relations, Katrougalos said as he spoke about a brief spat in relations between Moscow and Athens this summer after Greece expelled two Russian diplomats. “Both sides agreed [to put] it behind us,” he said, adding that relations between Russia and Greece have traditionally been good and the current Greek government seeks to keep them this way. Like this story? Share it with a friend! Ahead of the release of Avengers 4, it’s been revealed how one of the early shocking moments from this year’s blockbuster was kept so secret. It seems that Loki’s shock demise stayed under wraps because not even the crew knew Tom Hiddleston’s character was being killed off until the moment it was filmed. The reason? They had been given a decoy script in which he escaped Thanos. In The Art of Avengers: Infinity War, executive producer Trinh Tran drops the bombshell. “We created a version of the script where Loki would get away in an escape pod at the beginning of the movie,” she said. “When we started shooting that particular sequence, we had crew members who were thoroughly confused. “We had to let them know that those were fake versions of the script that they read.” Sadly for the anti-hero’s fans, he met his maker when Thanos killed him in the very first scene. He wasn’t the only fatality of that sequence: countless Asgardians’ were slaughtered, including – in one particularly brutal moment – Idris Elba’s Heimdall. Hiddleston is rumoured to be appearing in Avengers 4 but it’s not known in what capacity: it could be a flashback, or a time jump or some other kind of non-linear scene. Whether or not he’ll actually make a full return from the dead remains to be seen – but given that he’s already faked his own demise multiple times, would it be a step too far to have him do it again? Whatever the case, Benedict Cumberbatch implied in a recent interview that characters like his – Doctor Strange – are definitely deceased. Asked if he’ll be back, he told Jimmy Fallon: “I’m dust, baby. “I’m just out there. I’m in the ether. I’m probably part of your food chain. I’m in your stomach somewhere.” Marvel have launched a webpage for the film, which gives a countdown clock to its release – but there’s still no sign of a title or trailer. Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019 in the UK.

She’s not in Avengers Infinity War, but will be introduced in her own solo movie next year before appearing in Avengers 4.
And interestingly Captain Marvel, like the first Captain America movie, is a period piece – one which is set in the 1990s.
While Agent Coulson and Nick Fury are set to star opposite Brie Larson, fans have been wondering why there’s been no mention of her in the Marvel Cinematic Universe if the film is a prequel to the original Iron Man.
With the Time Stone and Reality Stone in play for the next two Avengers movies, could she in fact be from another timeline in the multi-verse?
Screen Rant have suggested the interesting theory, pointing out that Avengers 4 seems to be dealing with time travel or perhaps different timelines, based on set photos.
One in particular showed Iron Man and Captain America back in the Battle of New York from 2012, but for some reason Ant-Man is there.
One of the most obvious ways Captain Marvel could be brought to the main MCU timeline, is via Doctor Strange.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer was introduced to the multi-verse in his 2016 solo movie, so he certainly has access to visiting different realities.
Perhaps Thanos gets the upperhand at the end of Avengers Infinity War, so Doctor Strange travels to another timeline to find other powerful superheroes to join the fight.
After all, Captain Marvel is something of a female Superman, with super strength, speed, stamina and flight among her powers.
Ben Mendelsohn co-stars in Larson’s solo movie and has revealed what she’s like in the role.
While promoting Ready Player One, he said: “Brie is absolutely perfect for that role.”
He added: “Why? Because she’s a strong, yet sensitive, contemporary female.
“She is a champion, she’s a fantastic actress and she’s a great human. So you can’t ask for better for Captain Marvel.”
Captain Marvel is released in UK cinemas on March 8, 2019.

Black Panther is tearing up the box office and generating mountains of hype, and rightfully so. Already breaking records a few days removed from its opening weekend, Black Panther is the film everyone wants more of. So here’s something new: director Ryan Coogler recently dropped some info regarding a Black Panther alternate ending. He also spoke a bit about a MCU character’s absence from the film. Spoilers follow.
If you haven’t seen Black Panther yet, get the heck out of here. I’m assuming you have seen the film, though, since it broke all sorts of box office records and people can’t stop talking about it. But if you haven’t seen it yet, this is your last warning: spoilers ahead.
Director Ryan Coogler recently revealed a Black Panther alternate ending, and here’s the kicker: you’ve already seen it.
You’ll recall that Black Panther ends with T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and Shuri (Letitia Wright) in Oakland, California, discussing sharing Wakandan technology with the rest of the world. After this, a post-credit sequence shows T’Challa at the U.N., where he confirms he wants to share tech from Wakanda with outsiders for the first time. Speaking with The Empire Film Podcast (via Collider), Coogler confirmed something you may have suspected: the U.N. sequence was the original alternate ending for the film, not a post-credit scene:
“It was [almost the ending]. We played with a lot of different ways to end it. We went back and forth about the U.N., and we had a version where it was the U.N. before the scenes in Oakland at the end. But we really kind of settled on how do we want the movie to end? And it came back to that symmetry, and it came back to the most moving version of it. That’s what we were asking ourselves, ‘Who’s more moved emotionally, that kid or the people sitting in the U.N.?’ Who is that a bigger deal to for T’Challa to walk in, who’s more connected to him?”
Coogler then goes on to say why he settled on the film’s real ending, involving T’Challa talking to a kid from Oakland:
“As a kid, growing up, when you see somebody who looks like an older version of you doing something awesome, it’s like, ‘What’s going on?’ That’s kind of what that moment… We kind of went with the less distilled emotion, and the U.N. makes sense afterwards for where Wakanda could be going in the future of this universe.”

When watching Black Panther, did you wonder, “Where’s Bucky?” I certainly did not! But someone might have, and Ryan Coogler has an answer. During the mid-credits scene in Captain America: Civil War, it was revealed that Bucky, AKA The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), had been brought to Wakanda. The plan was to freeze Bucky until they could wipe the last traces of Hydra’s brainwashing from his mind.
While Bucky does appear in one of Black Panther‘s post-credit scenes, he’s not in the film itself. Personally speaking, I think that makes sense – there was no room in the film’s story for Bucky. But if you wanted more bang for your Buck(y) in the film, director Ryan Coogler has an answer about the character’s absence (via Collider):
“[A Bucky scene] was something that was always—it was a Shuri thing, because in our world we kind of figured that Bucky Barnes would be her assignment. We kind of drop the hint at that when they bring Ross in and she’s like, ‘Oh another one.’ So we dropped hints in there, but what we kind of decided was that her cracking his mental code, if Shuri’s as smart as she is, that wouldn’t really be a big problem.”
Coogler also added that Bucky’s mental state played a part in his absence from the film:
“But Bucky would have horrible PTSD, he would need spiritual guidance. The last thing he would need to do is jump into that Civil War, and so that was kind of the thought process there. And it could be potentially problematic if it’s a bunch of Africans fighting and you bring in a White dude, he comes in shootin’ people (laughs). We were aware of that. Bucky’s not trained to neutralize people peacefully, he’s an assassin…”

Fans didn’t know what to expect when they sat down in darkened theaters for the anticipated return of the Star Wars franchise with J.J. Abrams‘ The Force Awakens. After the familiar opening crawl disappeared from the screen, The Force Awakens drops viewers right in the middle of the action. In a span of minutes, a Jakku village is besieged by First Order troops, Poe Dameron is captured, and Finn gets his tragic origin story.
It’s a sensational start to a great film, but it wasn’t the only opening that Abrams considered. Several The Force Awakens alternate openings were considered by Abrams, several of which were storyboarded. One particularly gripping alternate opening even went into production. You may remember it. The one with Luke’s hand. Now, one of those alternate openings has been given the fan animation treatment.
Animator Tim Gray created the animation based on one of Abrams’ original storyboards, presumably found in one of the many Force Awakens-related books. In the description of his two-minute animated opening, Gray says “The original concept for The Force Awakens opening was very different to what finally made it to screen. Using the original storyboards by J.J. Abrams, I have attempted to capture what this could have looked like.”
The alternate opening mirrors the opening to A New Hope almost exactly. Several small ships are being followed by a gargantuan Star Destroyer, but here’s the twist: the smaller ships are tugging the dilapidated Star Destroyer to Jakku, where scavengers like Rey will harvest it for parts. It’s a truly satisfying parallel to A New Hope, and would fit in well with the rest of the film’s homages to the 1977 original.
But while the visuals are impressive and foreboding, I could see why Abrams and his team ultimately scrapped it. It’s a more subdued opening that sets the stage for Rey’s journey, but doesn’t have quite the kick of the final opening scene.
Neither opening is quite as wild as another, more infamous alternate opening scene. That opening featured Luke Skywalker’s severed hand (we never really saw what happened to it after The Empire Strikes Back) floating in space, still clutching the blue lightsaber he lost in his duel with Darth Vader. The hand finally enters the atmosphere of Jakku, where it burns upon entry, leaving only the lightsaber falling into the sandy wasteland. Yes, that is a real alternate opening, and yes, Mark Hamill totally confirmed it.
