Emery has lost his first two games as Arsenal boss to Manchester City and Chelsea.

It was clear from the game against City the Spaniard was keen on playing out from the back.

Goalkeeper Petr Cech had some nervy moments and the defenders did not look comfortable playing that way.

So Allardyce criticised Emery, saying it was not the way to play against the reigning champions.

“It is the manager’s fault,” he said on talkSPORT.

“You shouldn’t play out like that against Man City.”

However, this Monday Neville launched a passionate defence of Emery and called out Allardyce for his comments.

“He’s only five to six weeks in,” Gary Neville said of Emery.

“I saw Sam Allardyce’s comments on the radio after the first game, where he talked about ‘you can’t do this, you can’t do that’.

“Unai Emery’s not trying to get eight points from five games to avoid relegation.

“He’s trying to build a team to win a title. He’s trying to build a team with a style to win a title, not lump it long and get in behind.”

Sam Allardyce has now responded to the Manchester United legend, claiming “he always thinks he’s right”.

“Gary thinks he’s an expert in the field, as you well know,” Allardyce told talkSPORT on Thursday morning.

“Why he quite had a dig, I’m not that sure, but of course Gary is very open in his own opinion.

“Let me say this: I’ve managed seven Premier League clubs and over 1000 games – do you think I’m entitled to my opinion? I think so.

“So like I said, Gary is Gary, and in the end he thinks he’s always right, that’s probably the reason why he said it.

“But at the end of the day, people ask me for my opinion and I say what I see, I always give my honest opinion.

“He talks about me having to win five games to save a club from relegation, I never got five or six weeks [like Emery at Arsenal].

“If I don’t get a result in five weeks, the club I take over is relegated – so I have to do it in days.

“I have to work out the players immediately and convince all of them we have to turn results around immediately.

“So he’s not right in what he said, but Gary is Gary – he’s got his opinion and I’ve got mine.”

Arsenal will look for their first points of the season on Saturday when they host West Ham.

The Hammers have also lost their first two games of the campaign, against Liverpool and Bournemouth.

Arsenal news: Sam Allardyce makes big Jack Wilshere claim amid Everton link https://briefnews.eu/arsenal-news-sam-allardyce-makes-big-jack-wilshere-claim-amid-everton-link/ https://briefnews.eu/arsenal-news-sam-allardyce-makes-big-jack-wilshere-claim-amid-everton-link/#respond Thu, 22 Mar 2018 15:00:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/arsenal-news-sam-allardyce-makes-big-jack-wilshere-claim-amid-everton-link/

Wilshere is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season and has been linked with a free transfer to Everton.

Reports claim the Toffees are willing to offer the England international more than the Gunners.

Wilshere has been a regular in the Arsenal side in the Premier League since December and his form has led to him being recalled to the international squad by Gareth Southgate.

Allardyce has also been impressed by the 26-year-old this season but refused to comment on whether he would want to sign him.

“I can’t comment on that, you’re not supposed to be talking about that!,” Sam Allardyce told talkSPORT.

“I’ve always admired him, oh yes.

“I’ve seen a big difference in Jack Wilshere recently, in his frame, in his body.

“He looks like he has really got the bit between his teeth.

“He looks a lot fitter than he was and he is leaner in his face.

“He looks like he’s had a real go off the field, with his diet and extra training, to overcome his injury problems and prove what a great player he is.

“Hopefully if he is over his problems, whether it’s Arsenal or another club, we all hope he has a long career ahead of him.”

Sam Allardyce: Why does Everton manager wear an earpiece? Who is he talking to? https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-why-does-everton-manager-wear-an-earpiece-who-is-he-talking-to/ https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-why-does-everton-manager-wear-an-earpiece-who-is-he-talking-to/#respond Mon, 18 Dec 2017 19:57:23 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-why-does-everton-manager-wear-an-earpiece-who-is-he-talking-to/

But why does Sam Allardyce wear an earpiece?

Allardyce is one of the most experienced managers in England, having first taken a full-time post at Blackpool in 1994.

He is credited with being one of the most forward-thinking managers of his generation, using sports science and psychology to get the most out of his players years before others took the methods on board.

He has been more than two decades in the business and the ex-Bolton defender is still going strong.

He is often out his technical area bellowing instructions to his players.

And when the TV cameras pick up on Allardyce you can usually see his earpiece.

Why is Sam Allardyce wearing an earpiece?

The reason for Allardyce’s earpiece is simple.

At Everton, he is connected with Toffees coach Craig Shakespeare, who watches the games either in the stands or somewhere out of earshot.

Allardyce has regularly used the earpiece at other clubs he has managed in order to get a different viewpoint – in both senses of the phrase.

Allardyce at Everton

Allardyce has overseen a major upturn in form since his arrival at Everton.

The former England manager is yet to lose, having won games against Huddersfield, Limassol and Newcastle.

The Toffees also earned a credible 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby at Liverpool.

Allardyce’s Everton host a Swansea side currently rock bottom of the Premier League and four points from safety.

Sam Allardyce: Everton announce former England boss as new manager on huge contract https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-everton-announce-former-england-boss-as-new-manager-on-huge-contract/ https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-everton-announce-former-england-boss-as-new-manager-on-huge-contract/#respond Thu, 30 Nov 2017 20:14:44 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-everton-announce-former-england-boss-as-new-manager-on-huge-contract/

The 63-year-old watched on last night as Everton beat West Ham 4-0.

And the former England manager has now put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half year deal worth £9million.

Allardyce’s first match in charge of Everton is against Huddersfield at Goodison Park on Saturday with his first Merseyside derby against Liverpool on December 10.

He said: “The attraction of the club itself, the people I’ve known at the club, these people have always made me aware of just how special and unique a club Everton is.

“I feel really enthused and energised to come in as manager.

“I’ve always thought Everton was a great club. It is a great club.

“Obviously, the club has gone through a difficult spell and hopefully I can put that behind us as quickly as possible and start looking upwards again.

“Because, ultimately, it’s the ambition of the club, the ambition of the owner and the board, allied to the fact that it’s Everton and all the fantastic history, which have proved to be key for me.”

Allardyce’s appointment comes just two weeks after he ruled himself out of the job over not feeling wanted enough.

But after Watford rejected Everton’s approach for Marco Silva, the Toffees made contact again with Allardyce.

Allardyce’s £6m-a-year salary puts him amongst the highest-paid managers in the Premier League.

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola earns an annual salary of £15.3m with Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho on £15m.

Antonio Conte, Arsene Wenger and Klopp are the only other managers ahead of Allardyce.

Everton owner Farad Moshiri said: “More than anything he (Allardyce) will bring stability.

“He is a strong leader with a great track record. He will be able to stabilise Everton’s position in the top half of the table and give us a platform to move on.

“He uses the players he has. He is very effective and a great leader. That is what we need.”

He added: “I think they have a leader in this Club and at USM Finch Farm, which provides stability.

“He will give it his all and his focus 24 hours a day is this Club. I’ve followed him for many years and I’ve been a great fan of him. This is the biggest stage for him and I’m sure he will rise up to this.”

Sammy Lee joins Allardyce’s backroom staff alongside Craig Shakespeare, goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson and head of fitness Ryland Morgans.

David Unsworth, who’s has been the caretaker boss at Everton since Ronald Koeman’s sacking, will return to managing the under-23s.

Sam Allardyce signs STUNNING Everton contract to overtake Zidane, Simeone and Allegri https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-signs-stunning-everton-contract-to-overtake-zidane-simeone-and-allegri/ https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-signs-stunning-everton-contract-to-overtake-zidane-simeone-and-allegri/#respond Wed, 29 Nov 2017 17:23:55 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-signs-stunning-everton-contract-to-overtake-zidane-simeone-and-allegri/

The former England boss has agreed to take over at Goodison Park and will be in attendance tonight as they take on West Ham.

He has agreed an 18-month contract on £6m-a-year which takes him above some of the biggest names in football.

That works out at around £115k a week and will see him pocket £9m in 18 months.

Allardyce overtakes Real Madrid’s double Champions League winner Zinedine Zidane, Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, Juventus manager Max Allegri and PSG chief Unai Emery.

It is a staggering move from Everton chief Farhad Moshiri following the dismissal of Ronald Koeman six weeks ago.

“I really want to give him the support he needs,” said the Toffees owner. “He can go as far as he wants.

“We need a strong leader, he gives us that.”

Everton have continued to slide under David Unsworth and are now 17th in the table just two points above the relegation zone.

But Allardyce is now in and will be unveiled tonight ahead of the West Ham match.

Everton have now tweeted: “Sam Allardyce will be at USM Finch Farm this afternoon to finalise terms on becoming the new manager of Everton Football Club.

“David Unsworth will remain in charge of the Blues for tonight’s Premier League match against West Ham United at Goodison Park.”

Allardyce replaces Ronald Koeman, who was sacked six weeks ago, after an emphatic summer saw £150m spent on transfers.

But without replacing Romelu Lukaku, who was sold to Manchester United, Everton have struggled.

Allardyce recently spoke of the club’s troubles this season when writing a column for Paddy Power.

“Everton are obviously in a bad place at the moment and, like every football club that is struggling, it’s mainly down to a loss of belief,” he wrote.

“The players’ loss of belief in themselves and their lack of confidence means that the first thing the new manager needs to do is re-instil that confidence and morale in them again.

“When a player plays with confidence, that’s when he’s playing to the best of his ability.

“At the minute, I can’t see that with that set of Everton players. It’s completely gone.

“At any football club, that should be your top goal and your main focus before anything else, keeping your team mentally happy.”

Everton to appoint Sam Allardyce as new manager in next 24 hours https://briefnews.eu/everton-to-appoint-sam-allardyce-as-new-manager-in-next-24-hours/ https://briefnews.eu/everton-to-appoint-sam-allardyce-as-new-manager-in-next-24-hours/#respond Tue, 28 Nov 2017 00:36:27 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/everton-to-appoint-sam-allardyce-as-new-manager-in-next-24-hours/

Allardyce, 63, will bring in former Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare as his chief coach as he attempts to reverse Everton’s alarming slide – described shambolic by their former striker Gary Lineker – towards the foot of the Premier League.

One set of talks with Allardyce floundered this month because Everton power broker Farhad Moshiri only wanted to offer him a short-term deal.

Everton instead pursued their No1 choice, Silva. But when it became clear Watford would not part with the highly rated Portuguese coach – dubbed the “new Mourinho” when he performed so well in almost keeping Hull in the top flight last season – Everton were forced to act.

Talks were on-going last night, with Allardyce understood to be looking for a three-year commitment.

Everton, however, were still trying to convince him to take a shorter option, although one with big incentives for keeping the club in the Premier League. A compromise deal of two years, with a large bonus for survival, was one option being discussed.

That would enable the Toffees to chase Silva, or any other big-name boss, this summer while offering Allardyce hefty financial compensation should he succeed in keeping them up.

Survival has looked an increasingly tall order since the departure of Ronald Koeman last month and the disastrous caretaker spell of David Unsworth.

A 3-2 win – coincidentally against Silva’s Watford at the start of the month – is Everton’s only victory in their last dozen league and cup games.

Last Thursday the Toffees, who were expected to make an assault on the top four this season, slumped to a new low in a 5-1 home defeat by Atalanta in the Europa League, followed by Sunday’s 4-1 hammering at Southampton.

A return to management for Allardyce would mark a dramatic u-turn after he walked out on Crystal Palace six months ago claiming he had retired.

Palace owner Steve Parish let him out of his contract on the understanding he was quitting the management game and Everton will owe his former club compensation – understood to be around £2million.

Allardyce was in Abu Dhabi over the weekend watching the Grand Prix, but is understood to be poised to step in after tomorrow’s (WED) home game with West Ham.

Everton’s director of football Steve Walsh, under pressure after a poor summer in the transfer market, is understood to be firmly behind Allardyce.

And given Allardyce’s proud Premier League record of never having been relegated with Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham, Sunderland and Palace, Moshiri has now come around to that line of thinking.

Whatever they decide, Everton need to act quickly. Indeed, Lineker believes his old club can ill afford to delay over the appointment of a new manager as he traces the current malaise right-back to the summer and the reaction to the sale of Romelu Lukaku.

“They are in a bit of a mess at the moment,” said the BT Sport presenter [MUST KEEP IN]. They need to get a good manager in and try and sort it out because it’s a bit of a worry, it’s fairly shambolic at present.

“When you sell a big player, you bring in loads of money and loads of new players and spend a fortune. But some of those new players will adapt very well and others won’t adapt at all and it takes a while to find that out. We saw it with Spurs when they spent Gareth Bale’s money.

“By the time Christmas comes around you still don’t know whose your best team. I think that’s kind of what’s gone on with Everton.”

West Brom eye Sam Allardyce as Tony Pulis replacement to save Premier League status https://briefnews.eu/west-brom-eye-sam-allardyce-as-tony-pulis-replacement-to-save-premier-league-status/ https://briefnews.eu/west-brom-eye-sam-allardyce-as-tony-pulis-replacement-to-save-premier-league-status/#respond Tue, 21 Nov 2017 00:29:54 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/west-brom-eye-sam-allardyce-as-tony-pulis-replacement-to-save-premier-league-status/

West Brom’s ambitious Chinese owners are looking to name someone who can safeguard their £170m summer investment and build for the future and Allardyce, who has been out of work since keeping Crystal Palace in the top flight last season, could be just the man.

The 63-year-old looked set to go to Everton but pulled out of the running because he did not feel their heart was set on him.

Now West Brom, who sacked Tony Pulis yesterday after three years at the helm, are on the lookout for someone with proven Premier League experience.

And Allardyce ticks all the boxes having managed a record six clubs in the top flight – Bolton, Blackburn, Sunderland, Newcastle, Palace and West Ham.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill also emerged as one of the early front runners but he is not thought to be one that appeals to the Hawthorns hierarchy.

While Albion pulled the plug on Pulis just 48 hours after the 4-0 home defeat against Chelsea, there is not a massive list of stand-out candidates.

Former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic and ex-Everton boss Ronald Koeman would be interested but have just lost their jobs for the self-same reason as Pulis got the chop.

Former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is also a name who could be in the frame.

Pulis’ assistant Gary Megson will take care of first-team duties until a successor is found.

West Brom have been on a horror run which has seen them get just two wins from the last 21 in the league.

Chinese owner Guochuan Lai was at the Chelsea game and decided it was time to part company with Pulis who is believed to have picked up a £2million golden handshake.

Everton news: Sam Allardyce to be TEMPORARY boss with Craig Shakespeare his assistant https://briefnews.eu/everton-news-sam-allardyce-to-be-temporary-boss-with-craig-shakespeare-his-assistant/ https://briefnews.eu/everton-news-sam-allardyce-to-be-temporary-boss-with-craig-shakespeare-his-assistant/#respond Tue, 07 Nov 2017 18:11:17 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/everton-news-sam-allardyce-to-be-temporary-boss-with-craig-shakespeare-his-assistant/

Everton have been on the lookout for a new manager since axing Ronald Koeman last month, with the Toffees currently enduring a nightmare Premier League campaign.

With just three wins from their first 11 league games, Everton currently sit just two points above the relegation zone.

Express Sport understands they are lining up Allardyce to replace Koeman, with David Unsworth currently in temporary charge.

But The Sun say Everton only want Allardyce until the end of the season, where they hope to make a splash by landing a bigger, more marquee name.

Should the former England boss take the reins, then former Leicester boss Shakespeare will be his No2.

The 54-year-old was axed by the Foxes last month, just four months after penning a three-year deal.

Allardyce has supposedly told Everton he wants a long-term contract.

But the former England manager could be tempted to take over at Goodison Park if a lucrative offer is put in front of him.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol claims Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is Everton’s No1 choice to be their next permanent boss.

“Everton working hard behind the scenes to find a new manager,” Solhekol said.

“We understand they’re working on four options at the moment.

“The one that’s really, really interesting, the dream candidate we’re being told is Diego Simeone the Atletico Madrid manager.

“We understand he is the No 1 choice of Everton’s owner Farhad Moshiri, a man who has a lot of money. He’s the man who Moshiri wants.

“Of course it’s going to be very, very difficult to get Diego Simeone out of Atletico Madrid.

“A club who are unbeaten in La Liga, I think they’re fourth in the table. They’re not doing great in the Champions League at the moment, they’re in the same group as Chelsea and Roma.

“But he is Farhad Moshiri’s dream candidate. It would be very surprising to see him at Everton but Farhad Moshiri is a very rich man, he wants the best for Everton.

“He thinks that Diego Simeone would be the right man for the job.”

Everton news: Sam Allardyce holds talks to become new manager, Sean Dyche overlooked https://briefnews.eu/everton-news-sam-allardyce-holds-talks-to-become-new-manager-sean-dyche-overlooked/ https://briefnews.eu/everton-news-sam-allardyce-holds-talks-to-become-new-manager-sean-dyche-overlooked/#respond Mon, 06 Nov 2017 22:17:57 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/everton-news-sam-allardyce-holds-talks-to-become-new-manager-sean-dyche-overlooked/

Allardyce is one of the frontrunners to get the job full time after Ronald Koeman was sacked.

Former England boss Allardyce is said to have spoken to Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri about the vacancy, claim Sky Sports.

The revelation comes as ex-Everton manager David Moyes flies to London to take up the West Ham job.

Everton have been seeking a manager since sacking Dutchman Koeman on October 23.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is another option for the Toffees, although the Clarets would likely demand a hefty compensation fee to let him go.

Discussing Everton on Saturday, Allardyce said: “Everton are obviously in a bad place at the moment and, like every football club that is struggling, it’s mainly down to a loss of belief.

“The players’ loss of belief in themselves and their lack of confidence means that whoever becomes the manager of Everton, the first thing they need to do is re-instil that confidence and morale in them again.

“When a player plays with confidence, that’s when he’s playing to the best of his ability. At the minute, I can’t see that with that set of Everton players. It’s completely gone.

“At any football club, that should be your top goal and your main focus before anything else, keeping your team mentally happy.”

Allardyce has also been linked with the Hammers post in recent weeks, with pressure slowly mounting on Bilic until today’s sacking.

Both Everton and West Ham have pulled the trigger on their managers in a desperate bid to recover their seasons.

Express Sport understands Moyes will not be heading back to Goodison and instead will sign a short-term contract at the London Stadium.

Allardyce, like Moyes, has form in keeping sides in the top flight.

He oversaw Bolton’s rise to the Premier League and also saved West Ham from the drop, before being let go in 2015.

He was appointed England manager after a successful stint at Sunderland saw the Black Cats steer clear from danger.

Sam Allardyce to QUIT Crystal Palace: Ex-England boss tells Steve Parish he's leaving https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-to-quit-crystal-palace-ex-england-boss-tells-steve-parish-hes-leaving/ https://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-to-quit-crystal-palace-ex-england-boss-tells-steve-parish-hes-leaving/#respond Tue, 23 May 2017 17:34:52 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/sam-allardyce-to-quit-crystal-palace-ex-england-boss-tells-steve-parish-hes-leaving/

Crystal Palace wanted Allardyce to remain in charge after he steered them clear of relegation this season.

But the Daily Mail claim the former England manager wants to leave Selhurst Park.

According to the report, Allardyce wanted assurances before committing his future to the south London club.

Today the 62-year-old held a meeting with Palace chairman Steve Parish, which ended with Allardyce announcing he wants to quit the club.

Allardyce has previously admitted his concerns over the support from Palace’s American owners.

He only joined Palace back in December after Alan Pardew was sacked.

The ex-Bolton and Sunderland manager maintained his record as never being relegated from the Premier League as Palace went on a spring charge to avoid the drop.

Neither the manager nor the club are yet to release a statement.

Express Sport reported two days ago that .

“As a manager of six Premier League clubs so far I have never got all I wanted. But we will sit down and make sure we cover the priorities with what we have available,” he said ahead of Sunday’s final game of the season with Manchester United, which Palace lost 2-0.

“The top end of what we want to do will be the first thing to cover and then if we can’t get it all we say let’s get on with it and move on.

“What happens will decide who we go for over the summer months.”

Allardyce’s decision comes three years after Tony Pulis also declined to stay on as manager after keeping the Eagles in the top flight.

There are suggestions Allardyce could return to former club Sunderland, who were relegated from the Premier League this season.

Sunderland fans are calling for their former boss to replace David Moyes, who has quit his post.

Watford are also seeking a new manager after sacking Walter Mazzarri.
