Aljaz, 30, will be supporting his wife Janette, 36, this evening as she performs in her first-ever Strictly Come Dancing final with singing sensation HRVY, 21. The pair are on course to win the Glitterball Trophy after their former co-stars, including the BBC show professional dancer’s husband, were booted out of the competition. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent rules put in place, the married couple have had to live away from one another so they could form support bubbles with their partners. After such a trying year, they would have liked to have travelled abroad but it seems the current climate could put a stop to their future plans.

Speaking with Express.co.uk and other publications ahead of the final, the Cuban-born professional dancer explained what the future holds for her and Aljaz.

Janette said: “I’ve started packing up already, bits and bobs in the flat that I’m in because finally on Sunday, I go home.

“I think these 11 weeks is the longest I have been away from Aljaz,” she added, expressing how much she has missed her other half.

Of what she and her spouse wanted to do over the festive period, HRVY’s partner replied: “Our Christmas plans are still up in the air because of COVID and the guidelines.

“We are hoping we will get to go to Miami to see my family and spend some time with my grandparents that I’ve not seen in a while but Sunday I cannot wait to be home on my couch just resting with my husband.”

Since the pair began a relationship some years ago, they have always taken it in turns to see each other’s families over Christmas.

Last December, the pair travelled to Slovenia to see Aljaz’s parents after they were both booted out of the competition early.

This means Janette hasn’t seen her loved ones across the pond in almost two years and she is desperate to see them.

Even though they might not be able to travel this year, it seems the talented pair could be starting a brood of their own very soon.

Appearing on an Instagram Live session with her co-star Gorka Marquez, 30, recently, Janette joked about her plans for the future.

After seeing her fellow finalist’s daughter Mia, the Cuban-born professional said: “Aljaz and I are going to have a baby and move to Manchester.”

“Well, you have the best time now, you know, you’re at home together, no dancing… there is nothing better to do,” the father-of-one jokingly replied.

Speaking on Lorraine earlier this year, Aljaz and his wife referred to having children of their own sometime in the future.

Janette said in February: “Especially as a woman, it’s a big decision, for me whenever we do decide to have a child.

“We talk about it all the time. We adore kids. You should see us around babies,” the professional dancer explained.

“We get so broody, both of us,” Aljaz’s wife continued before confirming: “We are definitely going to have children.”

Before any of their plans can come to fruition, HRVY and his partner need to see if they can claim the Glitterball Trophy.

According to the latest odds from Coral bookmakers, the couple stand in good stead to become champions of the show at 7/4.

However, they first need to defeat frontrunner Bill Bailey, 55, who is the favourite to secure victory at 8/11.

Spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “It’s time for the Strictly Come Dancing final and we make Bill Bailey the one to beat and the odds on favourite.

“If Bill falls short, then HRVY looks the one to swoop in and lift the Glitterball Trophy,” the bookmaker added.

Strictly Come Dancing concludes Saturday at 6pm on BBC One.

Alex hosted the show alone as her regular co-host, Matt Baker is currently taking a step back from the show and is currently self-isolating at home as he suffers from suspected symptoms of covid-19.

Birmingham Airport has suspended all services citing an air traffic control fault, becoming the latest British airport to halt its work in days – and heating up conspiracy theories on Twitter in wake of the Gatwick “drone crisis.”

A brief statement issued by the airport said it “had to temporarily suspend services due to an air traffic control fault,” without giving any further details. Passengers have been advised to check schedules while the airport is working “to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

The incident follows a string of alleged drone sightings at London’s Gatwick Airport, which were enough to shut it down for over 30 hours this week. Thousands of passengers became stranded or had to rebook their flights.

Neither the drone nor its pilot have been found by the police so far. Moreover, the latest police comment cited by media said there may not have been any pesky UAV at Gatwick at all.

It is no surprise that the new air traffic disruption at Birmingham in wake of the Gatwick mayhem has evoked a horde of conspiracy theorists and jokers alike trying to ‘explain’ the coincidence.

Some questioned the official explanations given for the traffic collapse – because, of course, the government is hiding “the truth.”

A few blamed the aliens in a solid old-school move.

But others chose to stay more in vein with the recent trends and laid blame on “the Russians” instead.

Of course, things got political pretty soon, with some witty commenters suggesting that the whole air traffic mess had something to do with Brexit.

Thakfully there was a lone Christmas conspiracy theory too, but it blamed the striking Santa Claus’s reindeer in a telling sign of our times.

Doug from Hastings innocently looked for some advice on what do to with his seafood, but perhaps didn’t consider his wording when he boldly told the host: “I’ve got crabs!”

The caller’s question was lost as the entire team cracked up, leaving Matt to try and silence them. 

“You’re looking for something to do with fresh crabs?” clarified the 43-year-old presenter. 

Cheeky Matt then asked his guest chefs: “Boys, what would you do with crabs?

“Don’t mess with it Doug, top tip,” the chef joked after his colleagues suggested putting them on toast with a bit of mayonnaise. 

Viewers couldn’t ignore the filthy innuendo, with many taking to Twitter to joke about Doug’s rather unfortunate situation. 

One posted: “#SaturdayKitchen’s audience questions kill me. ‘Hi Doug, what’s your question?’ ‘I’ve got crabs’ – Too much information, Doug.”

Another joked: “Haha #SaturdayKitchen caller ‘I’ve got crabs, what can I do with them?’ @matt_tebbutt trying his hardest not to crack up.”

A third gave good advice, adding: “#SaturdayKitchen Doug from Hastings ‘I’ve got crabs’ Try phoning NHS24 pal.”

A Frenchman serving 20 years in jail over the ‘Air Cocaine’ plot to smuggle a planeload of drugs out of the Dominican Republic has flown home to France to undergo surgery to save his leg from amputation after being hit by a motorcycle while on bail.

Alain Castany was one of four co-conspirators arrested at an airport in the Dominican Republic city of Punta Cana on March 19, 2013, in a plot that implicated members of France’s upper political echelons.

Dubbed ‘Air Cocaine,’ Castany and his accessories loaded a small jet with 700kg (1,500lbs) of the drug, but were apprehended shortly before takeoff, reports the Local.

The men were all convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2015, but were placed under house arrest in the Dominican Republic pending an appeal.

The plot thickened in October 2015 when the two convicted ‘Air Cocaine’ pilots, Pascal Fauret and Bruno Odos, were picked up by a speed boat in Santo Domingo and taken to the French West Indies.

Their companions on board the boat were leading members of France’s National Front party – Aymeric Chauprade and Pierre Malinowski a parliamentary assistant to both Chauprade and the party’s founder Jean-Marie Le Pen, the Irish Times reported at the time.

The pilots held a press conference in Paris on October 27, 2015, to plead their innocence, but were arrested by French authorities soon after.

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was also briefly embroiled in the investigation as he was scheduled to use the same private jet just two days after the men were arrested.

Sarkozy’s phone records were also examined, but no connection to the ‘Air Cocaine’ plot was found.

The public prosecutor’s office in Marseille called for the four co-conspirators and seven other suspects involved in the case to be handed over to the court in Bouches-du-Rhone, reports the Local.

Another alleged conspirator, French aviation security expert Christophe Naudin, was extradited from Egypt to the Dominican Republic as part of the investigation.

Yesterday, per Vulture, Wilmore announced he’d be hosting a new podcast over at Bill Simmons’s new-ish website the Ringer, called Black on the Air. In a short teaser featuring Simmons and Wilmore, Wilmore says the podcast will be “me kind of weighing in on issues of the day with my audience, and then I’ll be interviewing some really cool people.” His first guest is the TV legend Norman Lear, who not only created some of the most iconic sitcoms in television history, but happens to give a great interview. We won’t have to wait long: The first episode drops tomorrow, Thursday May 11. Upcoming guests include Bernie Sanders and Neil deGrasse Tyson.

In a press release, Simmons called Wilmore “one of a kind — not just one of the best thinkers and fearless voices we have, but someone who can talk to anyone about anything … I think it makes perfect sense for Larry to become the 22,354,919th human being with a podcast.” As Vulture’s Nicholas Quah points out, the announcement comes shortly after Wilmore appeared as a guest on Simmons’s own podcast. Crooked Media founders (and former Obama staffers) Jon Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer also showed up on The Bill Simmons Podcast shortly before they launched Keepin’ It 1600, their 2016 campaign podcast that eventually led to the created of Crooked Media shortly after the election. That’s the kind of empire-building we can get on board with.
