Alya Nazir (played by Sair Khan) has been battling Aidan Connor’s (Shayne Ward) family since he left the Underworld factory to her in his will.

The Coronation Street business women has been at loggerheads with Kate (Faye Brookes), Johnny (Richard Hawley) and especially Carla (Alison King) as she refused to hand over the company.

However, this could all change when she watches a video of her late boss Aidan talking about his life and relatives.

It unfolds when Alya is handed a DVD of an interview Aidan did with a student about kidney donation.

Aidan, who is tied to a drip and sitting on a hospital bed in the video, had given half-sister Carla his kidney to save her life.

When Alya watches the video of Aidan she quickly realises how much his family meant to him and he to them.

Having already taken over the knicker factory, will Alya change her mind and return the business to Aidan’s family?

Also, how likely is she to share the footage with Kate, Johnny and Carla?

Sair had previously said Aidan wants Alya to carry on his legacy, she said: “Alya is trying to keep her and Aidan’s vision alive, and she has a very strong, unique idea about where the factory’s heading.”

At the time the 30-year-old actress hinted that Alya has no future plans to step down as owner of the factory.

She added to What’s On TV: “Alya is no pushover. It’s a real reversal of fortune.

“When Alya first started, she was young, naive and didn’t know the business world very well, but that’s changed.”

Aidan’s suicide earlier this year was arguably one of the soaps most harrowing storylines to date and viewers were warned before it aired.

The show faced mounting criticism for its decision to screen the “dark” scene, but outgoing producer Kate Oates defended the storyline, saying: “Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 in this country.

“With 84 men taking their lives each week, we quite simply can’t afford to not talk about it.

Aidan’s story is designed to give people who hide their feelings of desperation a chance to start a conversation, letting someone know what they’re going through.

“We want to assure anyone who feels suicidal that there is always someone who wants to listen, whether a friend, family member, or one of the brilliant charities we have been working with.

“We want to tell people that however bleak they are feeling, there is always another way.”

Writer speaks out https://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-5-spoilers-series-to-return-without-aidan-turner-writer-speaks-out/ https://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-5-spoilers-series-to-return-without-aidan-turner-writer-speaks-out/#respond Mon, 23 Jul 2018 01:47:30 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-5-spoilers-series-to-return-without-aidan-turner-writer-speaks-out/

Season four of Poldark is set to wrap up later this week and the final episode will see Ross (played by Aidan Turner) try and mend things with wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson).

Elizabeth Chenoweth (Heida Reed) is also attempting to repair her own marriage as she will persuade George (Jack Farthing) that Valentine really is his child.

Whilst the BBC has already confirmed a fifth season for Poldark, writer Debbie Horsefield has spoken out about working on it and the future of the series.

She revealed she has already started writing the next scenes to follow on from season four.

“Yes I have started writing it,” she began, “I’m writing episode 7. [But] it is the final series as far as we are concerned.”

Although some fans will be saddened to know Poldark won’t be returning to the screen after season five, it may not be the definite end for the period drama.

The series is based on The Poldark novels by Winston Graham, and there are several more books which could inspire Debbie to reignite the storyline after season five.

But would they continue the series without lead actor Aidan Turner?

It’s not likely as Debbie revealed she would have to speak to the cast before continuing to pen the series.

She explained: “There are five more books, [but] the BBC the cast would need to talk about that, there are more books definitely. “

Debbie went on to add that she’d love to write more seasons, explaining: “Yes, I would be happy to do them.

“[But] i’ve got lots of things lined up at the moment, and so have the cast.”

It seems fans will have to wait a while for the sixth season but in the meantime, details for season five are slowly being confirmed.

Ross will return to his home in Cornwall, confirming the location for the next series.

Cornwall Live’s website reported The National Trust have applied for planning permission for a temporary set to be put in place.

The application read: “The temporary structures will be in place for less than six weeks, for the duration of filming of the Poldark series.”

Meanwhile, speaking about the pressure to continue to pen compelling stories for television, Debbie added: ““I don’t think I’m unusual in this, I know a lot of people I work with say the same thing.

“You always think this is the one when you’re going to be discovered that you can’t do it. Everything else was a fluke.

“Yes there is always somewhere in the back of your mind, when something first comes to the screen that’s the time when you go ‘obviously I’m rubbish and now everyone will realise it.’

“For a long time you’re typing away, then you’re on set and it’s being filmed and you’re watching the rushes and it’s just a small group of creatives all getting together.

“Then comes the time when you have to push your baby out into the world to get shot down and that’s the terrifying moment.”

Poldark returns for the season 4 finale on Sunday 29th July at 9pm on BBC One.

Poldark season 4: Aidan Turner has ‘NEVER felt objectified’ by Ross Poldark topless frenzy https://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-4-aidan-turner-has-never-felt-objectified-by-ross-poldark-topless-frenzy/ https://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-4-aidan-turner-has-never-felt-objectified-by-ross-poldark-topless-frenzy/#respond Wed, 13 Jun 2018 20:04:54 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-4-aidan-turner-has-never-felt-objectified-by-ross-poldark-topless-frenzy/

Aidan Turner has been the lead in Poldark for four years.

The hunky hero has stripped off numerous times for the role, and has become something of a sex symbol as a result.

Aidan, 34, recently addressed a Radio Times article, which argued men and women “should both be able to confidently express desire for the other sex”.

He spoke on BBC News earlier today, speaking about the notion of a “double standard”.

Aidan said: “It seems like there is a double standard, yeah, it does seem that way.

“But I try not to get involved in [that debate].”

He went on to explain: “I’ve never felt objectified. I think sometimes other people want to feel that for you, which can be quite a strange thing.

“But personally I haven’t. You say objectify, but it sounds like [journalist, Mariella Frostrup] was sort of admiring that character of Ross Poldark or physically how he looks or whatever.”

Aidan added how he doesn’t have a problem seeing a shirtless Ross on the covers of newspapers, explaining how context is key.

“These photographs were stills from the show, so in context it makes sense.

“When you pull them out and stick a photograph on the front page of a national newspaper it becomes something very different.”

He continued: “Were not doing anything in our show that… I mean, Game of Thrones probably has far more nudity, or Vikings, or any of these shows, than we would have.

“so I never quite understood why our show was picked in particular, or why these images were concentrated on more so than any other shows, or other images of actors who’ve gone topless for any sex scenes…”

This comes after Eleanor Tomlinson revealed she wasn’t allowed to audition for her role of Demelza.

Eleanor won a legion of fans when she appeared on television screens as Ross Poldark’s (played by Aidan Turner) wife.

However, it has been revealed that the actress was originally going to play a very different role in the BBC drama.

The 26-year-old has noted that bosses actually wanted her to play Ross’ former lover Elizabeth (Heida Reed).

“Initially they had been down as Elizabeth,” Eleanor confessed to Red Magazine.

“They told me they couldn’t see me as Demelza at all.”

Poldark continues Sunday on BBC One at 9pm.

Coronation Street spoilers: Alya Nazir drops HUGE bombshell amid Aidan Connor suicide https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-alya-nazir-drops-huge-bombshell-amid-aidan-connor-suicide/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-alya-nazir-drops-huge-bombshell-amid-aidan-connor-suicide/#respond Fri, 08 Jun 2018 04:20:16 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-alya-nazir-drops-huge-bombshell-amid-aidan-connor-suicide/

Aidan Connor’s (played by Shayne Ward) untimely death rocked Coronation Street and left his family in bits as they had no clue he was battling with depression and would take his own life.

The Connors were also shocked to discover he had left the Underworld Factory to his business partner Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), rather than his own flesh and blood.

Now, Alya will announce she is in charge of the business in tonight’s episode, despite the Connors refusal to accept it.

In a preview clip Alya is seen revealing the news to the factory workers that she is the new owner of the company.

“It was a surprise to me as well,” she told them. “I know it’s a shock, but I want you to know nothing changes, not where you’re concerned.”

Off course, the news upset some of the staff and one member of the team even asked whether Carla Connor (Alison King) would be running the factory with her.

“She [Carla] is not entirely happy, obviously,” she replied, before telling them she would be running it alone.

Will the workers accept Alya as their new boss? And, can she retain her position with the Connor’s desperate to take back the company?

Elsewhere, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) will finally tell Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) the truth about baby Susie.

The Rovers Return landlady has been pretending the baby girl gifted to her by Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) is her own, to hide the fact her surrogate, Jackie, suffered a miscarriage earlier this year.

But the secret has been eating away at Toyah and she will come clean and tell Peter about their “baby pact”.

Speaking about the upcoming scenes, Georgia said: “Toyah and Peter have had their ups and downs but this was something else, these scenes are really full-on.

“It’s really heartbreaking to see because, for once, Peter hasn’t done anything wrong, he really hasn’t.”

Hailing her co-star, she added: “Chris is fantastic, he is just wonderful and I have loved working with him since I’ve been back.”

The 38-year-old actress went on to tell Belfast Telegraph Toyah has no clue how Peter will react to the news, but hinted it could cause a rift in their relationship.

She explained: “It’s like ripping of a plaster and she just knows in that moment, that it is the right thing to do.

“She doesn’t know what the fallout is going to be, but then the fallout is catastrophic and even worse in a way than she ever thought it could be.”

Georgia also said the shock revelation will be a “double-whammy” for Peter as she has to confess their own baby died and reveal Susie is not their child.

Poldark season 4: Has Aidan Turner just revealed BBC series ending? https://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-4-has-aidan-turner-just-revealed-bbc-series-ending/ https://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-4-has-aidan-turner-just-revealed-bbc-series-ending/#respond Fri, 25 May 2018 00:58:59 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/poldark-season-4-has-aidan-turner-just-revealed-bbc-series-ending/

Aidan is well-known for playing the brooding character on the popular series and has opened up on the future of the show.

has been commissioned for a fifth run but the actor isn’t sure if it will come back for a sixth.

“It’s been big for us all and it’ll always be a special thing,” he explained.

“But things naturally do come to an end and I think we’ve done really well with Winston’s books and I hope he’d be really proud.”

Aidan continued: “But it’s nice when things naturally come to an end, you don’t want things to go on really long.”

The 34-year-old continued: “I think next year might be the last one, certainly for a while.

“We may come back, who knows. There’s a huge gap in the books, about 15 years.

“I wouldn’t age up, I’d come back in 10 years. I’d revisit it the right way, I’m not putting grey in my hair or anything like that.”

The new series will see Ross face a fresh rival in the come of Monk Adderley (Max Bennett).

Dishing details of his enemy, Aidan commented: “Monk represents everything that Ross hates.

“He is corrupt and has likely acquired his political position through nepotism rather than hard work.

“Monk is mostly involved in politics for the social scene and rarely bothers to show up to the House of Commons.

“Ross and Monk immediately get off on the wrong foot and it is funny to play that situation where you just don’t trust someone from the get go – he doesn’t trust Ross and Ross doesn’t trust him.”

Aidan continued: “They clash straight away and whilst it is never really spoken about, they have this unsaid hatred for each other from the very beginning until it reaches a dramatic end.”

Meanwhile, his relationship with Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) will also play a large role in the new storyline.

“Ross doesn’t want to lose Demelza,” the actor explained.

“He realises how fragile their relationship is and how awfully he has treated her and what it feels like to be at the other end of that, which is something he has never experienced before.

“Ross sometimes need those wake up calls as he is not always aware how he effects other people and it isn’t until something happens where the tables are turned and he is confronted with that same action himself that he realises what he has done.”

Will the pair survive the fourth series?

Poldark returns to BBC One later this year.

Aidan Connor’s (played by Shayne Ward) death has rocked his family and residents in Coronation Street but things will get worse when details from the important legal document are revealed.

The Connor family, including Johnny (Richard Hawley), Kate (Faye Brooks) and Carla (Alison King), will be left heartbroken when they read Aidan’s will in an upcoming episode.

Since his death, Kate and Carla have had to take care of all his business affairs which included running the Underworld knicker factory.

But in a blow to the family it will be revealed that Aidan has left the company to his business partner, Alya Nazir (Siar Khan), rather than his own relatives.

It is believed a huge legal battle will ensure as the Connors plan to get back the business they think they are entitled to.

A TV insider said: “In the fallout from the emotional storyline Aidan’s will shows that he’s left Underworld to Alya.

“It’s a shock as everyone was expecting it to be left to his own family.”

The source went on to tell The Sun: “It’s an unintentional snub to the Connors, as he made the will months earlier when he thought about taking his own life.”

Meanwhile, Coronation Street has been applauded for their handling of the suicide story, with viewers taking to Twitter to praise the ITV show.

One fan shared: “Coronation Street have portrayed this storyline so well, showing that we don’t always know what’s going on in someone’s life beyond what we can see.”

Another posted: “Bravo @itvcorrie watching the aftermath of Aidan’s suicide is heartbreaking but it’s being covered and acted so well.”

A third said: “That #Corrie episode was extraordinarily well done. The juxtaposition of Aidan’s and David’s stories worked very well and great care was taken in ensuring to show a balanced representation of numerous viewpoints and reactions.”

Someone else added: “What a stunning performance by all involved at @itvcorrie all of you have done an amazing job I’m sat here in tears and all I want to do is hug you all and help those who suffer.”

While another tweeted: “Well done @itvcorrie on showing the aftermath of loosing a loved one. It’s the most heartbreaking thing a parent, family member or friend can ever go through.”

Elsewhere, producer Kate Oates congratulated Shayne on his performance, saying: “The challenge for Shayne was that so much of his performance was about subtext and subtlety.

“I think he explored that so beautifully and with such depth – he was fantastic.”

She went on to tell the Metro: “I’d also like to say that when we approached Shayne with the storyline, he was gracious, brilliant and professional.

“He’s been a joy to work with, a brilliant company member and a brilliant actor.”

Whether fans are ready for it or not, the beginning of Aidan’s (played by Shayne) exit, with Coronation Street producer Kate Oates revealing the actor was the one who created his character’s final scene.

“The final scene in which we see Aidan is entirely of Shayne’s creation,” she told Metro.

“Originally we were just going to see Aidan at the pub with his family. Life’s going on around him and he’s just completely dis-engaged.

“But Shayne instinctively said: ‘That feels really wrong to me. I think I need another moment and Aidan needs it too,’” she explained.

“So we added a final scene of him breaking down at the flat.

“Now when I watch these episodes, they wouldn’t feel complete without it.”

The heart-wrenching story will see Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) finding Aidan dead in his flat.

It will become clear that Aidan has been struggling with his mental health for months and eventually decides to take his own life.

It was recently revealed he will pay a visit to his loved ones before he takes his life.

Most notably, he will present his dad with a golf club membership shortly before he plans on leaving for Spain.

She later went on to discuss the subtleties of the storyline, and how well Shayne played his role.

She continued: “The challenge for Shayne was that so much of his performance was about subtext and subtlety.

“I think he explored that so beautifully and with such depth – he was fantastic.

“I’d also like to say that when we approached Shayne with the storyline, he was gracious, brilliant and professional. He’s been a joy to work with, a brilliant company member and a brilliant actor.”

Coronation Street spoilers: Aidan Connor's tragic suicide storyline revealed months ago https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aidan-connors-tragic-suicide-storyline-revealed-months-ago/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aidan-connors-tragic-suicide-storyline-revealed-months-ago/#respond Wed, 02 May 2018 05:21:49 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aidan-connors-tragic-suicide-storyline-revealed-months-ago/

Coronation Street confirmed the tragic news that Aidan Connor (played by Shayne Ward) will commit suicide in an episode next week.

However, producer Kate Oates revealed Aidan came very close to taking his own like in scenes aired back in January.

Admittedly most viewers would not have noticed the moment as Aidan was posting a letter to his father Johnny (Richard Hawley) at the time.

But when he discovered that Carla (Alison King) needed a kidney transplant he stopped the postman from delivering the note.

It turns out the letter was actually a suicide note, intended to explain the reason Aidan chose to end his life.

In that episode, Aidan also reminisced and flicked through old family photos, which his sister Kate (Faye Brookes) described as “weird” behaviour.

“There was an episode some time ago when Carla said to Aidan and Kate that she wasn’t very well – she needed a kidney transplant and they were her best chance at a match,” Kate told Digital Spy.

“The next day, Aidan went and intercepted a letter at Johnny’s house.”

She continued: “As writers and storytellers, we’d got ourselves to a point where Aidan was planning on doing it that night, but he decided to hang on for Carla.

“It didn’t mean he was better or sorted, but he just decided to hang on to help her.

“Within that period of story that followed, we’ve seen moments of hope and moments of Aidan going back down – all skillfully played by Shayne. The letter may be found in subsequent episodes.”

Kate defended her decision to air the controversial storyline, telling ITV’s Lorraine Kelly she wanted to show the power of dialogue.

“I think a really positive thing to take out of this storyline is once you start conversations, the power of talking is phenomenal.

“Once you’ve opened that door ever so slightly there are charities, friends and family that always want to listen to you.”

She added: “Once you’ve started that conversation the change can be astronomical and that’s really, really important.  There’s a lot of positivity to come out of this story.”

Meanwhile, Shayne confessed to This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that he was worried when he read the script.

“I was instantly scared, I was nervous and completely heartbroken because I knew that this was more than just a storyline.

“I knew the impact that it’s going to have on the public when it airs and I think it’s amazing that Coronation Street is covering this.”

Coronation Street spoilers: Shayne Ward drops HUGE hint on 'troubled' Aidan Connor exit https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-shayne-ward-drops-huge-hint-on-troubled-aidan-connor-exit/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-shayne-ward-drops-huge-hint-on-troubled-aidan-connor-exit/#respond Mon, 16 Apr 2018 10:15:27 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-shayne-ward-drops-huge-hint-on-troubled-aidan-connor-exit/

The ITV star revealed all as he appeared on Lorraine this morning for a chat with host Lorraine Kelly.

His Coronation Street exit storyline is being kept tightly under wraps, but Lorraine did ask him what viewers could expect.

He revealed: “You’ve got to see about everything that Aidan’s been through and that he’s a troubled soul.

“He’s always trying to prove himself to his dad and his family.”

The 33-year old’s comments suggest Aidan could be headed for a devastating exit given his history as a “troubled soul”.

Could it all end in tragedy for poor Aidan?

Shayne may tackle a serious subject as the actor dropped a big teaser about the upcoming plot earlier this year when he described the storyline as “important”.

He told OK magazine: “It has been an incredible three years that I’ve had at Coronation Street.

“I am very sad to go, but to be trusted with such an important storyline, I am truly blessed.”

Meanwhile, fans have been devising their own theories as to how Aidan will depart the cobbles.

After he told Kirk Sutherland (played by Andrew Whyment) that he should “look after” Beth Tinker (Lisa George), some think he could be secretly ill.

“Aidan’s going to die #Corrie,” one viewer stated.

Another wrote: “Aidan Connor is giving me too many feels, he’s ill isn’t he #Corrie.”

“Son just said ‘Aidan better not be dying’ @itvcorrie #Corrie @shayneTward,” a third added.

Viewers will have to wait until later this year to see how Aidan makes his exit.

The X Factor winner also revealed to Lorraine that he didn’t leave without a big send-off.

He divulged: “I got told it was the biggest [leaving party] they’ve done.

“It was great, the turnout of people that came.

“I’ve been there for three years and it was only meant to be six months.”

He then turned toward the camera to address his colleagues on the programme.

“I love you guys and I’m gonna miss you.”

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.

Coronation Street spoilers: Aidan Connor ‘forgotten storyline’ EXPOSED amid Eva Price exit https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aidan-connor-forgotten-storyline-exposed-amid-eva-price-exit/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aidan-connor-forgotten-storyline-exposed-amid-eva-price-exit/#respond Fri, 13 Apr 2018 21:34:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-aidan-connor-forgotten-storyline-exposed-amid-eva-price-exit/

The businessman lashed out at Eva (played by Catherine Tyldesley) when she realised they had no future together.

Eva had previously revealed that Aidan (Shayne Ward) was the father of her unborn baby but he was unconvinced.

The Underworld boss asked whether the baby was his or Adam Barlow’s (Sam Robertson), with whom she had a quick fling last year.

Shocked by his reaction, Eva told Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) that she would hand over the child when it was born.

In tonight’s episode, Eva returned to the factory to tell Aidan the baby was not his and begged him not to tell anyone.

Aidan acted as though he was unsurprised and lashed out at the expectant mum.

Eva told him: “It’s not your problem. There’s not going to be any test Aidan.

“You were right, it’s not yours. It was about the money and stuff.

“You can’t blame me for wanting security for my child. Just promise me you won’t say anything and I’ll go.”

Aidan rudely replied: “So it’s Adam’s then? Unless you’ve got half a dozen baby daddies lined up as well?”

Fans of Coronation Street were outraged by his comments and hit out at the businessman on Twitter.

They were quick to point out that Aidan was not completely innocent himself, noting he had an affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) behind Eva’s back.

“What is Aidan playing at treating Eva like that, she is sorry after all,” one viewer wrote.

Another added: “#CoronationStreet has everyone forgotten is was Aidan that cheated on Eva not the other way around so why they acting like it was her #Corrie.”

A third continued: “Does Aidan remember that he’s the one who cheated? #Corrie.”

“Aidan acting like the victim. Has he forgot all about how he cheated and lied and lied and lied to Eva…..?!!! #Corrie,” someone else wrote.

A fifth commented: “#CoronationStreet has everyone forgotten it was Aidan that cheated on Eva not the other way around so why they acting like it was her #Corrie.”

Later in tonight’s double bill, the ITV soap hinted at a tragic end for Aidan.

The Underworld boss sparked concern during an exchange with Kirk Sutherland.

Coronation Street continues Monday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
