Adidas is dropping its all new Ultraboost 19 running shoes later this week, but you won’t have to wait in line to get a look at them. The company is partnering with Snapchat to offer an augmented reality-powered preview. Sneakerheads will be able to use the Snapchat lens to see exactly how the shoes will look laced up on their feet before they are officially available on December 15th.

According to Adidas, the AR preview will be the first time Snapchat has partnered with a sneaker brand to let users try on a product through a lens. To see how your feet look clad in the kicks, fire up Snapchat and browse the lenses until you see the Adidas logo. You’ll get to watch a brief unboxing before being presented with the option to learn more about the shoes or try them on. Adidas will all be sharing the Snap lens with shoppers today via AirDrop in select locations in New York, Los Angeles and Houston.

Adidas is just the latest shoe company to embrace AR for a new releases. Nike tapped the technology to build hype for the release of the Air Jordan 11 Concord. Adidas has used AR previously to sell limited-edition versions of its sneakers.

It’s never been easy to buy limited-edition sneakers, especially for consumers who may not have the same resources as a reseller. This can be anything from automated scripts (aka bots), to an army of people waiting in line outside a store ready to take all the stock. That’s why brands such as Nike and Adidas are using technology to try to even the playing field for everyone, be it through random launches on an app or by using experiences based around emerging mediums like augmented reality. On November 3rd and 4th, at ComplexCon in Long Beach, California, Adidas Originals will debut a new AR feature that’s going to let attendees buy some of the hottest shoes of the year — including its Dragon Ball Z collaboration.

Those who happen to be at the event will need to download the ComplexCon app, which works for iOS and Android, and enable push notifications. Once doors open and Adidas is ready to start selling the hyped kicks, the application will send information on where to go to “Unlock the Drop,” which is going to be at various beacons that have been setup inside the venue.

After users make their way to one of these locations, they can point their smartphone at the AR-powered signs (as pictured above) and then follow instructions to pick a size and complete the checkout process. The last step will be for people to go to a designated locker at ComplexCon and, voila, pick up whatever model they bought — all, from the very first step, without having to interact with any Adidas Originals staff.

While Adidas says it is “reinventing” the shoe drop with this ComplexCon experience, Nike has actually been experimenting with augmented reality to sell highly coveted sneakers since 2017, when it launched the SB Dunk High Pro “Momofuku” via its SNKRS app. Adidas itself has tested AR features, though that was simply for marketing purposes. Now that Adidas is actually using the tech to sell its shoes, it’s yet another example of how sportswear brands are serious about the potential of augmented reality as a tool to combat bots.

“A transaction that would have taken over two hours in the past is now served within minutes of the AR release,” Chris Murphy, Adidas North America’s senior director of digital activation, told Engadget. “At events like ComplexCon you have a very diverse mix of attendees that go from resellers, collectors to fashion enthusiasts and culture makers… and everyone gets a fair chance at the same release.”

He said Adidas has been looking heavily into augmented reality for the past couple of years, and that what we’re going to see at ComplexCon is only a small taste of what the company has planned for the near future. “Before the end of the year,” Murphy added, “we aim to provide more access to our most desired product through the digital lens.” For now, Adidas will be hoping that its Unlock the Drop AR feature is at least going to keep people from fighting for pairs, considering how last year’s ComplexCon turned out to be quite chaotic.

Fresh from pocketing a $ 3.8 million check from winning the US Open on Saturday, Osaka is now set to pen a clothing deal with the German sports manufacturing giant that could see her take on Williams, the woman she defeated to win the title, for her Forbes number one highest-paid female athlete ranking.

Osaka already earns a six-figure salary with Adidas, which is due to expire at the end of the year. The Times reports a $ 8.5 million deal is being lined up for the 20-year-old, enjoying newfound global recognition after her maiden Grand Slam win.

With the new deal, reports suggest Osaka could climb the Forbes ladder to become the second-highest paid player of 2018, ahead of Caroline Wozniacki but just behind Williams, but she will have to go some way to matching the all-time tennis great.

Despite collecting just $ 62,000 between June 2017 and June 2018 due to a break to have her daughter Olympia, Williams earned $ 18.1 million to be the world’s top-earning female athlete thanks to a lucrative endorsement portfolio.

The move could be smart business from Adidas, pitting the younger Osaka against the 36-year-old Williams, who is one of the most prominent faces of rivals Nike, and who will have no doubt lost some public favor after her shocking outburst during their match.

Williams launched into a tirade of abuse directed at umpire Carlos Ramos, calling the official a “liar” and a “thief”, then later accusing him of sexism, after he penalized her for on-court infractions. The 23-time Grand Slam winner was later fined $ 17,000 for her behavior.

Adidas has partnered with Twitter on a new series that will livestream high school football games happening all over the country on the social network. Titled, naturally, Friday Night Stripes, the show will broadcast friday night games throughout the sport’s regular season from September 7th until November 9th.

The show will be announced by ESPN’s Courtney Lyle with analysis by he Green Bay Packers’ A.J. Hawk, while YouTube star Cameron “Scooter” Magruder will report from the sidelines. The first game on September 7th will be between Cedar Grove of Ellenwood, Georgia vs. McEachern of Powder Springs, Georgia, with later match-ups listed on adidas’ online post.

Twitter has spent the last couple years slowly expanding its sports content, but it’s had stiff competition from other content platforms. Since the company again lost out on NFL broadcasting rights to Amazon back in April, it’s been looking elsewhere, including snagging 20 WNBA games. But if shows like Cristiano Ronaldo’s fictional Facebook series about teen soccer players take off, youth sports could become the next battleground where social networks clash over content rights.

Since 2015, Adidas has been letting customers reserve highly coveted sneakers (like Kanye West’s Yeezys) through its Confirmed app. But that’s about to change in the coming weeks. According to a message the company is displaying in Confirmed, the application’s features will soon move into the main Adidas app, which was launched in November of last year. Back then, Joseph Godsey, head of digital brand commerce at Adidas, told Engadget that limited-edition drops could be coming to the Adidas app down the road. And, well, it looks like that’s finally about to happen.

The move makes total sense, since the Adidas app will offer hypebeasts a one-stop shop for all their needs, whereas the standalone Confirmed app only had a very specific use. If you have haven’t downloaded it yet, the Adidas app is available for both iOS and Android.

Melania Trump visited an immigrant detention centre to day on the US border.

The First Lady, whose husband is Donald Trump, President of the US, looked serious.

She stepped out in an all white outfit today for her official appearance. She also wore a khaki army style jacket over her angelic look.

But the real surprise was that the First Lady looked unusually casual in white jeans, plus a pair of trainers worth under £40.

This was an out-of-character look for the First Lady who is normally seen in heels and skirts.

On her feet, Melania opted for a pair of flat white leather trainers.

Her trainers are Adidas Women’s Stan Smith shoes which are a cult favourite.

They cost just £39.98 from the Adidas website – much cheaper than her usual £509 Christian Louboutin heels. 

However, her white jeans were rolled up to show a hint of tanned ankle – a stylish touch.

She also had white cuffs visible beneath her khaki jacket. 

The long sleeved white T-shirt flattered her figure and added simplicity to the look.

She chose to wear a pair of sunglasses over her eyes to partially obscure her face for the cameras.

Her hair was in its usual blowdried style, although it looked a little windswept.

She also wore a second shorter cream jacket under her khaki one.

She wore it buttoned up as she braved the Texas rain under a large black umbrella.

During her visit, Melania shook hands with officials at the US Mexico border.

She also visited the Lutheran Social Services of the South “Upbring New Hope Children’s Centre”.

Earlier this week, Donald and Melania hosted Queen Letizia at the White House.

The two glamorous women were pictured side by side. It was hard to tell who had the tiniest waist as they both wore skinny belts highlighting their slim middles.

Those previously on the fence about getting a Fitbit Ionic smartwatch now have a new model to consider.

Fitbit revealed its device collaboration with Adidas today—the Ionic Adidas Edition is a spiced-up Ionic smartwatch featuring an Adidas-made watch face, special wristbands, and the Adidas Train app for runners. Similar to the Apple Watch Nike+ edition, this version of Fitbit’s smartwatch combines all of the features of the original Ionic with exclusive perks developed in collaboration with Adidas that users can’t get on any other Ionic model.

The Adidas Edition’s case is identical to that of a regular Ionic, but the former comes preloaded with a new Adidas-made watch face with the company’s logo at the top, huge block-like numbers for the time in the middle, and a bottom stats row featuring steps taken, current heart rate, and the date. Exclusive bands for the Adidas Edition are available as well, both of which have many small holes along the band’s entire surface. These kinds of perforations allow more air to pass through to the skin, reducing the possibility of skin irritation during long periods of use. These bands are also swim-ready, making them a good option to outfit the Ionic with before tracking a swim.

Kane is one of the main faces of the Adidas brand and helping him move to the Spanish capital would suit both parties, according to the report.

It is suggested that Perez is very keen on the idea.

However, Spurs have not yet received an approach for their top goalscorer and they would not consider selling him should Real make their move.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep the sharp shooter at Wembley.

But if Real table a former offer it may be too good for the England international to turn down.
