We called DJI’s DSLR and mirrorless Ronin S gimbal “essential YouTube equipment,” and it just got even more so with nine new accessories. The most interesting for filmmakers is the $ 169 Focus Motor for manual focus lenses. It consists of a motor, rod mount set and focus gear strip that can handle a wide variety of lens diameters. Once attached and connected to the Ronin-S, you can can use the existing the $ 59 Focus Wheel to adjust manual focus with .02 degrees of accuracy.

If you’d rather not use your smartphone to control the Ronin S, DJI has introduced the $ 129 Command Unit that attaches to the side. It has a small screen that lets you quickly change settings like motor controls and operations. There’s also a new $ 69 External GPS Module that improves stability when you do quick moves that rapidly accelerate the gimbal. It also helps keep the horizon line horizontal.

If you want to go beyond handheld shooting for more complex shots, the $ 169 Universal Mount lets you use the Ronin S with camera control systems, cables and jibs, or mount it to a car. It can also power the gimbal using a separate dual battery mount. You can also increase battery life using the new $ 99 BG37 Grip that packs a 12 hour rated 2400 mAh battery.

Other accessories, like the $ 49 Top HotShoe bracket and extended lens support give you new ways to mount various cameras and lenses. While many of the accessories are specialized, they’re an indication of the gimbal’s success and a sign of DJI’s commitment to DSLR filmmakers. They’re all available to buy now at DJI’s store or from authorized dealers.

The benefit of wearing wireless headphones doesn’t typically outweigh the headache of constantly charging and pairing them. But the Beats Solo3s are different. They’re my favorite Bluetooth headphones because of how easy they are to use and how good they sound.

The Solo3s also have a 40-hour battery life, so I can go days without charging them, and they automatically pair to my iPhone without me having to manually search through my Bluetooth devices. Last week, when discussing the HTC Vive Pro’s sky-high, $ 799 headset-only price, we noticed a bit of an oddity surrounding the pricing of the tracking base stations and controllers needed to go along with the system. Picking up two of each accessory at HTC’s retail pricing would run about $ 530, or $ 30 more than a $ 500 original Vive bundle which also includes the same accessories.

Someone at HTC seems to have noticed the same oddity, because the company is now offering a “Pro Headset Accessory Starter Kit” for the slightly reduced price of about $ 450 ($ 450.47, to be exact), down about $ 80 from the a la carte price. As noted by UploadVR, the accessory pack doesn’t currently show up for purchase on the Vive’s main accessory store page, but it does appear as an additional option after the Vive Pro is added to your online shopping cart.

The deal lowers the “starter” price for a Vive Pro experience to about $ 1,250, not including the high-end computer needed to power the setup. But the new price doesn’t change the fact that, for about $ 50 more, you can buy a Vive Pro and an original Vive, getting two headsets and one set of needed accessories for very nearly the same price (as if that wasn’t enough, the original Vive comes with a copy of Fallout 4 VR to boot).
