A serious issue appears to have occurred during preparations for Boeing’s test of the Starliner spacecraft and its launch abort system, three sources have told Ars. However, a company spokeswoman for the Starliner program did not respond to multiple requests for comment on the test, which was due to take place in White Sands, New Mexico, about three weeks ago.

The pad abort test is a necessary part of certifying spacecraft for flight, as it ensures the ability of the spacecraft to pull rapidly away from its rocket in the case of some emergency during liftoff or ascent into space. One person familiar with the incident in New Mexico said, “This is why you test these things now, rather than with people on board.”

Despite the lack of information from Boeing, industry sources indicated that some kind of failure occurred prior to the test, damaging some of the infrastructure at the test site.

Watch a video which shows the effect of the New York bomb cyclone winter snow storm on a flight forced to abort its landing.

The Singapore Airline flight was scheduled to land in New York’s JFK Airport in the USA, but had to be diverted to the smaller Stewart Airport instead due to the extreme freak weather.

The plane in the video is said to be an Airbus A380 model – the largest passenger jet in the world.

However, the aircraft was no match for the strong winds and massive blizzard.

The video, taken by passenger Manoel Gerlach, who showed it on Twitter, at first shows a plane packed with people.

The film maker travels towards one of the windows, displaying a view of the plane’s wing which is sprinkled with white snow.

All that can be seen of the outside world is a snow storm obscuring the ground and sky.

“Currently on SQ26, A380, diverted to SWF due to weather. Sitting on tarmac,” tweeted Manoel from the plane.

He later tweeted an update: “A380 was moved. Now closer to terminal. 

“Waiting for stairs and busses. Everyone still on the plane as of 5:05p. 

“People remain polite but are ready to get off the plane, knowing that immigration might take a long time.”

What is a bomb cyclone?

A bomb cyclone, which is also know as a “weather bomb” or “bombgenesis”, is a storm formation which occurs when a rising column of air exits a low pressure area on the surface of the Earth. 

It causes extremely powerful winds to develop around the area, which are strongest at the centre. 

Earlier this week, a viral video showed Storm Eleanor winds prevent a BA plane from landing on the runway.

The terrifying video shows the pilot try and fail to battle the strong winds in order to bring the passenger plane to the ground for landing.

The plane is instead forced to take off again into the sky rather than land on the runway.

Sinead (played by Katie McGlynn) is carrying the baby of Ken’s (William Roache) youngest son, but he is adamant to tear them apart.

In pictures released by ITV, the longest-running soap character will call the two to the bistro to announce some exciting news in Monday’s episode.

He tells them they are there to celebrate Daniel’s (Rob Mallard) acceptance into Oxford University, which throws a spanner in the works for the mother-to-be.

Later on, Ken talks to Sinead in private and asks her to call off her relationship with his son because she’s standing in the way of his future career.

Clearly hurt by the throwing comment, Sinead reveals she’s pregnant with Daniel’s baby.

But, Ken isn’t happy with the news and rants to the expectant mother that he wants better for Daniel after he wasted his own life with Deirdre.

However, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) – who Ken adopted after becoming stepfather to Deidre’s daughter when she was four-years-old – overhears his comments and is appalled.

How will Tracy react to Ken’s comment? Will Sinead have an abortion?

The actress who plays the pregnant character previously spoke out about the storyline, she said: “I think Ken really regrets his own life. He always wanted what Daniel now has the chance to do – to go to university in Oxford, be educated and move away from Weatherfield.

“He is seeing Daniel just about to walk into that life and then a factory girl in Weatherfield gets her claws into him.”

Coronation Street continues tomorrow night on ITV at 7.30pm.

Passengers on board Icelandair flight FI440 had a terrifying experience when the plane came in to land at Manchester Airport. 

The commercial jet was on its way down to the runway when fierce winds from Storm Doris forced it to abort its landing. 

Video footage captured from the ground shows the moment the plane was forced to climb back up as it was battered around by the wild weather. 

The stomach-churning clip has been shared on Twitter, with viewers quick to react at the frightening experience.

One user tweeted: “This video gave me anxiety” while another shared: “Oh dear, so glad I’m not flying today!!!!!”

Twitter user Graeme Coombes described a similar experience that happened to him. 

He said: “Happened to me at Johannesburg some years back. A bit scary when the plane shoots up in the air again after the long descent.”

Kate Carruthers tweeted: “I would not like to have been on that plane! Made my stomach churn just watching.”
