The CW’s bonkers young adult drama keeps piling on the twists, and this week’s episode of Riverdale was no different. Fans were genuinely stumped by the latest chapter, ‘Fire in the Sky’, which seemed to confirm extraterrestrial invaders had infiltrated the town.

The small town of Riverdale had yet another brush with the supernatural in the latest episode of the show’s unpredictable fifth season.

After jumping ahead by seven years, Archie Andrews (played by KJ Apa) and his friends return home in their mid-20s in hopes of restoring their old high school to its former glory.

Unfortunately, the situation in the town has only gotten worse over the years, and the gang find themselves once again pulled into various conspiracies.

This week’s instalment, ‘Fire in the Sky’, saw Archie volunteer at the local fire department.

Meanwhile, Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan) tries to coax Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) out of isolation, and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) uncovers yet another serial killer.

Where the show may start to lose viewers is when struggling author Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) stumbles upon a mystery of his own.

Fans were already gripped before the series took a two week break as the previous episode warned of a mysterious Mothman who could be stalking the town.

Now the series appears to have fully embraced the supernatural as Jughead could become the victim of an alien abduction.

“This Mothman thing is getting very Scooby Doo,” said one viewer.

“I feel like they’re gonna unmask an alien in the finale and be like “It was Old Man Mr. Jenkins this entire time!” and explain how everything was done using magnets and holograms.”

The series has certainly come close to introducing other-worldly concepts when the Gargoyle King was still in town, as well as the gang’s ordeal with Edgar Neverever (Chad Michael Murray) and the Farm.

While this fan rightly pointed out that Riverdale’s latest spooky conspiracy will probably be revealed as yet another elaborate hoax, others had their doubts.

Another viewer said: “On the one hand I don’t want this show to add aliens.

“But on the other hand any non-alien explanation is probably gonna be dumb as all hell so I guess I’m doomed to have this show melt my brain either way.”

The series remains as addictive as ever, but long-suffering fans may have to suspend their disbelief to dizzying degrees in the coming episodes once Jughead starts to investigate further.

Riverdale season 5 continues Wednesday, March 17 on the CW and the following Thursday on Netflix.

Legends Boss on Finale’s Zari Dilemma, [Spoiler]’s Abduction and That Cameo https://briefnews.eu/legends-boss-on-finales-zari-dilemma-spoilers-abduction-and-that-cameo/ https://briefnews.eu/legends-boss-on-finales-zari-dilemma-spoilers-abduction-and-that-cameo/#respond Wed, 03 Jun 2020 06:14:51 +0000 https://briefnews.eu/legends-boss-on-finales-zari-dilemma-spoilers-abduction-and-that-cameo/ Warning: The following contains major spoilers for Tuesday’s Legends of Tomorrow finale. Proceed at your own risk!

Legends of Tomorrow has beamed up a new problem: At the close of Tuesday’s Season 5 finale, Sara was abducted by aliens, unbeknownst to her friends, setting up the CW series for a new, “romp-ish” Big Bad, co-showrunner Phil Klemmer tells TVLine.

The season ender also saw the departures of some beloved Legends: Zari 1.0 realized that her presence and the two timelines fighting for control of Behrad’s life was slowly killing her brother, so she said a very tearful goodbye to Nate and her friends before going back into the totem. As the team was drinking their sorrows away/celebrating their victory over Lachesis and the Encores at a The Smell concert, Charlie made the decision to stay behind in 1970s London with her punk band and put down roots. (Her portrayer, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, will not return as a series regular for Season 6.)

And then there was Sisqó — yes, that one! — singing “Thong Song” during the big fight sequence with the returning Encores, because this is Legends of Tomorrow, after all.

Below, Klemmer talks about the space forces that took Sara, the writers room’s big Zari dilemma and the “terrifying call” he had to make to Sisqó.

Legends of Tomorrow RecapTVLINE | Sara being abducted is certainly a dramatic way to end the season, and thanks to The CW’s official synopsis for Season 6, we actually know a little bit about who took her. But what do you want to share about next season’s Big Bad and what they want with Sara?
Obviously, we want to live in a different kind of genre in the same way that mythological creatures was a fun playground. We definitely wanted to get into something like a little more B-movie creature feature. We got pretty hardcore into mythology with the Fates at the end of this [season]. We’re just trying to unburden ourselves by having something really fun and visceral. The nice thing about space aliens: When you do them the way that we intend to do them, it’s not like you have to spend half the episode getting to know the creatures. It’s sort of like our zombie episode: The great thing about a zombie episode is everybody knows what a zombie episode is. The shorthand allows you to spend the time exploring the dynamics of your actual characters. So I guess doing something that was, at least on the surface, very simple was appealing to us, because it was an opportunity for next season just to focus on our actual Legends.

TVLINE | Just to clarify, are these different aliens from the Dominators we met in the crossover?
These are totally, totally different. [The Season 6 premiere], it’s effectively a premise pilot explaining who these aliens are. We wanted to come up with sort of a surprising variety of them. We wanted to shape the season to lean into kind of a B-movie creature feature and low-budget ’80s [productions]. We wanted it to be kind of romp-ish. We didn’t want our aliens, at least in the beginning, to be too complicated. We, really, were inspired by things like They Live and Mars Attacks!, things that are kind of outlandish. This season got very, very emotional, and we want to counter-balance that with something that feels like a little bit frothy and trashy, I guess.

Legends of Tomorrow RecapTVLINE | Watching this episode, it seemed inevitable that Zari 1.0 would have to go back into the totem. But while you were breaking the story, was there any debate or discussion about who would get to stay in this Zari 1.0/2.0/Behrad situation?
Yeah, I think there was a moment where the room was split completely… There was a moment where we were basically bargaining with ourselves: “Let’s just keep them both. We love them.” There are some people who won’t lose one of them, and others that won’t lose the other, and we were at this weird impasse, and then we just had to have this moment where we’re like, “What are we doing to our crew? What are we doing to poor Tala Ashe?” Just the complexity [of] having her play two characters almost killed us in the finale. But at the same time, there was this moment of us being like, “Let’s just keep them both! Who cares? We’ll figure it out next season! It’s OK!” And that was before the pandemic shut down all of TV and film production. Somehow, we came to our senses, and we know that Zari 1.0 is always, theoretically, out there for us. But at the same time, we felt like Zari 2.0’s evolution over the course of the season… incorporates elements of her other self.

TVLINE | Was merging the two Zaris not an option, like sort of how we saw her in last week’s episode?
It was an option, but then I guess, to us, it sort of implied that there was something wrong with 2.0. When we met her, we thought that there was something wrong with her, and that wouldn’t have been much of a journey for us to be like, “Well, she was kind of a vapid, self-absorbed, superficial person, and we fixed her by giving her the substance of her other self.” But I think the surprise was really realizing that there was substance to her all along that was different, and it was not as obvious. To find someone like John Constantine falling for her for who she is is proof of that substance, and to find her secret strength… It’s the audience and us, as writers, chastising both for not taking her seriously. Because when you conceive of a character, in the beginning, it’s always a little two-dimensional, and then the performer plays the part, and you learn and they learn, and it’s back and forth, and all of a sudden… We thought it was funny to make Tala dress up as an influencer, but then it is a humbling experience where you realize, “Oh man, this is a real person, and we better take her seriously. We better write her seriously.” By the end of the season, of course, we’re entirely in love with her the way we were in love with Zari 1.0. It’s a funny process.

Legends of Tomorrow SisqoTVLINE | How did that Sisqó cameo and fight sequence to “Thong Song” come about? Were you just looking for a way to top “Return of the Mack“?
[Laughs] I was out of the room when we were talking about the Museum of Bad Ideas and what we could find there, and all of a sudden, the name Sisqó was up on the board… Then you’re like, “Oh my God, the thing that was a joke on the board is now completely integral to the finale of the season, and we haven’t even called Sisqó.” We were totally back-against-the-wall, and we’re like, “This is not a joke anymore. This is completely load-bearing. Our final action sequence requires a soundtrack and an animatronic Sisqó.” It was the most terrifying call I’ve ever made in my life, because I had to try to explain Sisqó what our show was and, you know, our show’s bats–t. By the time you get to the finale, to try to be like, “All right, here’s the deal: The Greek Fates have this Loom, and free will has been crushed, and there’s this museum, and yeah, technically, you’re part of the bad ideas, but secretly, as writers, we think the bad ideas are the best,” and he was just like, “Yep, totally, I get it. Yeah, I’ve got that outfit from the video. Yeah, I’ll dye my hair silver.” All the actors went completely berserk and were crowding around video village, filming the monitor as he performed. You’re just like, “This was not guaranteed. He could have said no. He could have not still been the Sisqó we remembered.” There are times where you are just like, “God, we don’t deserve the good luck that we get on this show,” but man, bless Sisqó!

Coronation Street spoilers: Kate and Rana torn apart in TRAGIC abduction scenes https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-kate-and-rana-torn-apart-in-tragic-abduction-scenes/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-kate-and-rana-torn-apart-in-tragic-abduction-scenes/#respond Mon, 26 Feb 2018 05:31:24 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-kate-and-rana-torn-apart-in-tragic-abduction-scenes/

Ever since Rana (played by Bhavna Limbachia) revealed her affair with Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) to her husband Zeedan (Qasim Akthar) everything has been up in complete turmoil for her in ITV’s Coronation Street.

Rana’s parents resolved to set up a marriage contract that would see their daughter and her husband stay together in exchange for money.

However, the marriage of convenience is unsurprisingly not working out, and things are about to take a turn for the worse.

Rana’s devout Muslim parents will do anything to save her reputation, and that includes kidnapping.

They lie to their daughter, telling her they will be visiting a sick relative in Pakistan, but the ticket is one way.

Kate teams up with Zeedan so they can help the woman they both love while enlisting the help of Rana’s brother Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) and Zeedan’s grandmother Yasmeen (Shelley King).

Pictures from the set show Rana being rushed away by her brother as she is open-mouthed in anguish while Zeedan looks on from the side.

Her parents can be seen in the background as they have their cruel attempt at kidnap thwarted.

Yasmeen can also been seen in the fray as she steps in between Rana and her father.

Another shot shows a distraught Rana being ushered into the car by her brother as she sobs with her plane ticket in hand.

A third snap sees Kate with her arms out stretched as she looks ahead toward the scene.

While the group will manage to save her, Rana’s parents have had enough and disown her.

Rana and Kate’s future is not certain either as they have tried to keep their distance recently.

However, the pair will soon find themselves confessing their love for each other as a shocked Zeedan walks in on them.

Viewers will just have to wait and see if it’s a happy ending for the star-crossed lovers.

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.

Man Charged With Kidnapping International Student Visited An Online Forum Called “Abduction 101” https://briefnews.eu/man-charged-with-kidnapping-international-student-visited-an-online-forum-called-abduction-101/ https://briefnews.eu/man-charged-with-kidnapping-international-student-visited-an-online-forum-called-abduction-101/#respond Sun, 02 Jul 2017 09:29:04 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/man-charged-with-kidnapping-international-student-visited-an-online-forum-called-abduction-101/

An Illinois man charged with kidnapping an Chinese international student visited an online forum called “Abduction 101” with sub-threads like “Perfect abduction fantasy” just weeks before the student went missing.

The 26-year-old student, Yingying Zhang, is believed to no longer be alive, the US Attorney’s office for Central Illinois said in a statement, ending a near-month-long search.

The suspect, Brendt Christensen, of Champaign, was arrested in connection to her disappearance late Friday by FBI agents, the statement said.

After narrowing their investigation on Christensen, a search of the 27-year-old’s phone showed he had visited a forum on April 19 called “Abduction 101,” according to an FBI affidavit filed after his arrest.

Christensen found that forum at a social network called FetLife, which caters to people interested bondage and discipline, dominance, and submission fetishes. In the “Abduction 101” forum, Christensen allegedly visited sub-threads called “Perfect abduction fantasy” and “planning a kidnapping” on his phone.

Initially, law enforcement had few leads into Zhang’s June 9 disappearance, but surveillance video at the University of Illinois showed her getting into a black Saturn Astra, which ultimately led investigators to Christensen.

Zhang had arrived at the university in April, and was studying photosynthesis and crop productivity, according to the FBI’s criminal complaint. She had graduated last year from Beijing’s Peking University with a master’s degree in environmental engineering, and was serving a year-long position at the University of Illinois’ department of natural resources and environmental sciences, according to CNN.

Local and federal authorities have been trying to locate Zhang and the driver since she went missing, officials said.

Authorities believe Christensen spotted Zhang at a bus stop, then circled around the block back to her location to speak with her. Zhang had been on her way to speak to the manager of a building where she was going to be leasing a new apartment. Sometime after getting in the car, the manager texted Zhang about the meeting but received no response.

Christensen came under the law enforcement’s attention three days after Zhang went missing, as authorities checked on Saturn Astra cars registered in the area.

An initial interview with him provided no leads, but according to the FBI affidavit, authorities later noticed Christensen’s car had a cracked hubcap like the one observed in surveillance video from the day Zhang went missing.

Sometime on Thursday, while law enforcement was keeping Christensen under surveillance, the 27-year-old was overheard explaining that he had kidnapped Zhang.

“Based on this, and other facts uncovered during the investigation of this matter, law enforcement agents believe that Ms. Zhang is no longer alive,” the statement from the US Attorney’s office said.

Officials did not disclose who Christensen was overheard talking to about the kidnapping.

In a recording of the conversation, according to the affidavit, Christensen was heard talking about keeping Zhang against her will to his apartment.

What happened to her next remains unclear.

A professor at the university told CNN Christensen had been a graduate student in the physics department until May.

University of Illinois Chancellor Robert Jones notified university staff and students of the arrest and of law enforcement’s belief that Zhang is dead in an email Friday night.

“There are no words that can explain why or how such a terrible thing should happen nor is there anything I might say that will ease the grief of any of you who knew her,” Jones wrote. “I ask all of you to help to ensure that Yingying is remembered for her kindness, her gentleness and her smile.”

A ceremony in memory of Zhang was scheduled to take place Saturday evening, but university officials cancelled the event early Saturday after Zhang’s family asked for privacy.

“Out of respect for their needs and in accordance with their wishes, we will not be holding a campus wide memorial today,” the university said in a statement. A memorial will be scheduled at a future date.

Alien Abduction ‘Proof’ Caught On Google Earth Debunked By UFO Hoax-Buster https://briefnews.eu/alien-abduction-proof-caught-on-google-earth-debunked-by-ufo-hoax-buster/ https://briefnews.eu/alien-abduction-proof-caught-on-google-earth-debunked-by-ufo-hoax-buster/#respond Sat, 28 Jan 2017 02:55:18 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/alien-abduction-proof-caught-on-google-earth-debunked-by-ufo-hoax-buster/ looming grey alien

A self-identified UFO hoax-buster has offered an explanation to debunk the rather wild story of John Mooner, the man from Devon, England, who this week claimed that he had been abducted by aliens and had proof of the abduction — and proof he had been involved in a fistfight with an alien — that he had uncovered on Google Earth. UFO Of Interest says that Mooner’s “proof” of alien abduction, the so-called UFOs that were, according to him, sent to pick him up, were nothing more than “reflections” of sunlight off glass structures in the area.

RT reported January 24 that the website UFO Of Interest, a self-styled investigative debunker of alien and UFO hoaxes, conspiracies, and misinformation, had presented evidence that the three UFOs that John Mooner had claimed were en route to his home in Devon to get him were just three flashes of reflected sunlight off of glass structures.

“The alleged UFOs are just a glass structure reflecting the Sun,” UFO of Interest told RT. “If we search the previous old satellite images by Google Earth taken in the same area, we can see better these glass structures. The image has gone viral quickly and it was easy for me to find the exact place on Google Earth.”

In support of the debunking, UFO Of Interest provided RT with Google Earth images that matched Mooner’s originals. Additionally, they also presented images of two conservatories in the same position where Mooner had claimed the UFOs were located.

The Google Earth images presented by John Mooner accompanied the man’s fantastic story on Monday, originally reported by the Torquay Herald Express. The Devon resident said that he did not recall the actual incident itself, but he knew that he had experienced “sporadic episodes of missing time throughout the year of 2016 and going back through the previous years.”

Suspicious, he decided to access Google Earth and see if there might be something of note that the popular geographical virtual imaging program might have captured. Mooner admitted he was stunned.

“I was left speechless by what I saw. The satellite has captured a real alien abduction taking place. The shocking thing about this was that it’s me being abducted by a grey alien and the satellite image clearly shows me trying to fight off the grey alien by punching it in the face.”

For those unfamiliar with common UFO vernacular, one of the more recurrent alien figures in alien and UFO research is the “Grey,” which is a being usually described as having gray skin (hence the moniker), a humanoid frame, and a somewhat bulbous head with large, often oval and black, eyes. According to the 1995 book Close Encounters Of The Fourth Kind by C. B. D. Bryan, 43 percent of all alien encounters occurred with a “Grey” alien, or a variation thereof.

In his narrative, Mooner said he noticed in the Google Earth images three UFOs, arranged at different altitudes, that appeared to be headed in his direction.

“The UFO that appears to be at the highest altitude has a green light emanating from it and appears to be leaving a faint contrail with a red glow behind it,” he said. “The other two UFOs are glowing white.”

Mooner had a theory as to what the UFOs were about to do.

“I think that the UFOs were coming to pick me up with the grey alien. I was abducted and this satellite image is proof.”

It is as yet unclear how John Mooner will digest the debunking of his UFOs, which seems to seriously undermine the foundation of his alien abduction adventure. But he has had experience at dealing with skeptics before.

A 2014 article in the Election Law Journal noted that 2.5 percent of the population (in the U.S.), the same percentage that is likely to report voter impersonation fraud, admits that they believe they were victims of an alien abduction.

UFO News: Alien Hunter Claims Own Abduction Recorded By Google Earth Satellite, Lens Flare Or Indisputable Proof? https://briefnews.eu/ufo-news-alien-hunter-claims-own-abduction-recorded-by-google-earth-satellite-lens-flare-or-indisputable-proof/ https://briefnews.eu/ufo-news-alien-hunter-claims-own-abduction-recorded-by-google-earth-satellite-lens-flare-or-indisputable-proof/#respond Wed, 25 Jan 2017 05:13:47 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/ufo-news-alien-hunter-claims-own-abduction-recorded-by-google-earth-satellite-lens-flare-or-indisputable-proof/ Recent UFO news suggest that an alien abduction had been recorded by Google Earth's satellite photos.

A recent UFO-related incident has caught the attention of numerous hunters worldwide, as a noted alien photographer discovered satellite images from Google Earth that appear to show an actual abduction taking place, complete with a Classic Grey on the ground. What’s more, the UFO photographer claimed that the person who seems to be in the middle of a confrontation with an extraterrestrial was none other than himself.

The incident was first reported in the Torquay Herald Express, with UFO spotter John Mooner of Devon, UK, coming forward with his remarkable findings. Even more interesting is the alien photographer admitting that the dates of the satellite images coincided with a period when he experienced numerous episodes of missing time. If the satellite images are any indication, it would appear that there was a perfect reason behind Mooney’s strange experiences.

The Google Earth satellite images are a bit grainy, but they do have some strange attributes. For one, the photos appeared to have been snapped on a relatively clear day, but three distinctly bright lights could be seen prominently in the image. Of course, the fact that there is a figure of a man and a humanoid-looking creature in the frame makes the satellite image extremely compelling. Mooner himself described how his discovery of his forgotten abduction happened.

“I was having trouble with the Google Earth app that was installed on my computer so I looked for an online option and found Google satellite maps. I thought to myself I will view the area where I was UFO spotted (sic) from last year and look for anything out of the ordinary. I was left speechless by what I saw.”

“The satellite has captured a real alien abduction taking place. The shocking thing about this was that it’s me being abducted by a Grey alien and the satellite image clearly shows me trying to fight off the Grey alien by punching it in the face.”

While details of the alleged Grey alien engaging in a fist fight with the UFO photographer could not be made out clearly due to the satellite image’s quality, it is quite difficult to deny that the particular photo from Google Earth was very interesting. After all, it is not every day that Google’s satellites would capture an image with three seemingly unexplainable lights in the same area. According to Mooner, the lights in the photos are three UFOs flying at different altitudes, according to an RT News report.

Numerous accounts of aliens coming in contact with humans have been reported over the years.

“The strangest thing about this captured incident is that I do not remember this taking place at all. I do, however, remember sporadic episodes of missing time throughout the year of 2016 and going back through the previous years. I do remember wearing a black baseball cap and shirt. This is definitely me on the satellite image.”

“I also spotted three UFOs that were heading in my direction. The three UFOs were identical and appear to be flying in formation at different altitudes. The UFO that appears to be at the highest altitude has a green light emanating from it and appears to be leaving a faint contrail with a red glow behind it. The other two UFOs are glowing white.”

While Mooner’s account and its accompanying Google Earth satellite images are undoubtedly compelling, critics and skeptics in the UFO community have so far been unimpressed, with many stating that the alleged UFOs on the images are nothing but reflections of light from the mirrors of houses in the area. Others, on the other hand, stated that the bright lights in the images are nothing but lens flares from the camera utilized by the Google Earth satellite. Unsurprisingly, Mooney’s supporters have stated that both scenarios are quite unlikely, especially since lens flares and reflections from objects on the ground rarely how up as bright as the lights in the satellite images.

While the truth behind the mysterious photos and the even more mysterious incident behind it might never be fully explored, Mooner’s account becomes yet another compelling incident in this year’s ever-growing list of UFO-related reports. UFOs and other paranormal incidents might not be declassified governments anytime soon, but it is difficult to deny that almost every day, someone on this planet experiences a close encounter with something that is, without question, out of this world.
