UPDATE ONE: The release of Spotify on Microsoft’s Xbox One console has now been confirmed.

The new app, which has only been available on Sony’s PlayStation 4 console up until now, looks set to go live very soon.

The official product page has gone live ahead of the Spotify release, giving us all the details on what it will include.

According to latest information, the app will function in a similar fashion to the one currently available on the PS4.

The Spotify product page confirms: “Soundtrack your gaming with the new Spotify app, free on Xbox One. Listen to your favorite music as you play any game, and browse playlists for every mood using your Xbox One Controller.”

CONFIRMED SPOTIFTY FEATURES:

  • Listen to music in the background while you game, for free.
  • Browse your favourite albums, songs and playlists.
  • Easy playback from your Xbox One Controller, or change tunes from your mobile or tablet without leaving the game.
  • Find the perfect playlist for epic gaming in the Gaming genre (in Browse) on Spotify.
  • Premium users can listen in higher quality audio and without ads. 

The Sony PlayStation 4 missed out on a killer Microsoft Xbox One feature a couple of years ago, when EA Access was first announced.

It appeared a misstep on the tech giant’s part, leaving fans without the option of the subscription service.

But the PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro got something else later on that made up for that, the Spotify app.

The new option gave players a great new way to incorporate their own musical tastes into their gaming experience and is something that’s not been available on Microsoft Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch.

However, that could all be changing very soon.

A new leak this week appears to confirm that the Spotify app is coming to the Xbox One and Xbox One  X, although nothing new has been found for Switch support.

Xbox’s Larry Hryb appears to have been spotted trying out the new app, and has been seen as part of his Xbox account’s activity.

It has also been confirmed by The Verge that Spotify is coming to the Xbox One, with the media site explaining: “Sources familiar with Spotify and Microsoft’s plans tell The Verge that a Spotify app for Xbox One is coming soon, and is currently being tested internally.

“Spotify arrived in the Windows Store recently as a desktop version for Windows 10 devices, and not a special Universal Windows App that works on Xbox One devices. 

“The new Spotify app for Xbox app will mean Microsoft’s console now has access to the popular music streaming service.”

The latest on the subject is that an announcement will be made by Microsoft very soon, so perhaps by the end of August.

Testing may also be needed, so there’s the chance it will be made available on the Xbox Preview Program first, before a general release later this summer.

It’s hoped that the app will work the same as on the PS4, providing players the chance to stream music in the background while playing games.

Here’s the FAQ description from Spotify: “Playing Spotify music while playing games is only available for select PS4™ games (not available on PS3, PlayStation Now, or using Remote Play).

“You can also share music while you game! Just select Share Music Information from the quick menu and choose from Now Playing, Recently Played, and Recently Saved.”

It should also be noted that Spotify premium is also available on the PlayStation 4, users can upgrade to Spotify Premium through the PlayStation Store without needing to leave the PlayStation console, via the Sony Xperia, or direct at Spotify.com.

With the successful show jumping ship from BBC One to Channel 4, viewers will certainly have high expectations.

But the publicity shows that not much has changed as the cookery competition appears to be sticking to their winning recipe of retaining show-stopping cakes, pastries, bread and other delightful desserts.

The only thing that has changed is the three new faces who have joined returning judge Paul Hollywood.

Standing on the far right in a bright yellow jacket is TV chef Prue Leith, who has replaced Mary Berry to judge the contestants on their baking skills alongside Paul.

In the middle are the show’s new co-hosts Fifteen To One presenter Sandi Toksvig and comedian Noel Fielding who have took the place of Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.

Clutching yummy looking cupcakes, they all seemed ready for action as they stood behind an array for scrumptious delights with the famous bunting behind them.

Fans will also spot that the foursome aren’t standing in front of the Bake Off’s huge marquee and are instead pictured in front of a brick wall.

However, viewers shouldn’t panic just yet as it has been reported that Channel 4 are keeping the famous tent but will be putting their own stamp on the show.

“They want to attract new legions of Bake Off fans, but also don’t want to dishearten those loyal viewers who have been watching it for years and are planning to keep doing so despite the change in channel,” a source told The Sun.

The insider continued: “Viewers will get the familiar tent set-up, in the beautiful grounds of Welford Park, and the same theme tune they’ve been hearing since it was first launched in 2010.”

The Great British Bake Off is expected to air on Channel 4 later this year.

While it’s currently unclear who the Overwatch new hero will be, it’s likely to involve the Doomfist gauntlet and recently introduced child-genius.

Overwatch Twitter teases have been slowly shared by Blizzard, the latest adding another link to Efi Oladele, the Numbani native who recently won a grant and now has some cash to burn.

It’s now reasonable to predict that Efi is building the new Overwatch Season 4 character being added to the game, be it robot of Android.

It appears the new Twitter images and links are creating a story in which we see Efi move forward with her plans to build a new fighter.

We have now seen an incident occur at Numbani airport, where a OR15 defense units were destroyed in confrontation with an unidentified assailant.

The latest tease includes a shopping list of items Efi is trying to get her hands on, including a UR-15 Chassis, Fusion Driver and Brandford Arm, among others.

The new Blizzard Twitter tease was accompanied with the caption: “Genius grant recipient and Numbani local Efi Oladele posts curious image on her holovid channel, declaring: “Time to get to work!”

There are also connections to the Doomfist gauntlet, with the aftermath of the Numbani attack being brought to life in the on the PTR servers, with the glass containing Doomfist’s gauntlet now smashed and the weapon removed.

While this would suggest that Doomfist is on the way, the talk of OR15 units also ties in with the recent reveal of robotics expert Efi.

In a fictional interview with Efi Oladele, the young genius said: “I want to create things that make our lives better. 

“And someday, my dream is to build something that can keep us safe, like the new OR15s! I think that would be great.”

Game director Jeff Kaplan recently said that the company was working on multiple heroes and that the release of a new character is its priority right now.

“We have multiple new heroes being worked on right now plus numerous events and event-related content,” he said.

“We’re always asking ourselves ‘what would make the biggest impact for the most people’ when we prioritise.

“Right now, we feel like introducing a new hero to the line up would be more impactful to the game. Hope that makes sense.”
