Martin Lewis explained how to save as much as £480 on your broadband internet by making a quick phone call.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he revealed BT is hiking up its prices – but you could use it as an opportunity to save.

He said: “On Tuesday BT’s website revealed that it’d be increasing prices for the 2nd time this year from 16 September 2018 – effecting millions of its customers.

“Standard line rental will rise by £1/mth to £19.99/mth, unless you ONLY have BT landline (ie no broadband or tv packages with it), standard broadband will rise by up to £30/year, and calls to landlines will increase from 13p/min to 15p/min.

“And buried on a page only BT customers can get access to by logging into their account, it also indicates it’s sports subscription will rise by up to £54/year – though this hasn’t officially been confirmed.

“Yet in its contract, following guidelines from Ofcom, it says that if it rises price mid-contract you can leave penalty-free within 30 days from when you get your letter telling you of the rise.

“So if you want this do watch out for the letter – it should be sent via email or post over the coming few weeks.

“More so though, this provides the perfect opportunity for you to haggle.

“After all EE currently does home standard broadband and line for £17/mth (through certain comparison sites not direct) so ask it to match that.

“If it says no, then tell it you’re going to leave and ask to be put through to disconnections, known internally as ‘customer retentions’.”

“As their job is to keep you, they have much greater discretion to give you better deals.

“In fact, in my poll in November last year, 78 per cent of BT customers who tried to haggle said they’d succeeded.

“Last time it announced price rises many people succeeded in haggling it down like Diane who tweeted ‘@MartinSLewis you said 75 per cent who haggle with BT succeed.

“’So we rang: monthly payment reduced by £40 and new upgrade internet hub delivered! One sentence saving us £480 per year! Thank you.'”

He also explained that two bank switch bribes end this week so consumers should act fast.

He explained: “Banks are willing to pay serious money for you to switch to them, and if they’ll give you a (legal) bung, why not take it, especially as it often means improved service.

“Yet these offers tend to be cyclical, earlier this year they were on, then many ended, then back on, and now two big ones are ending.

“Yet don’t assume these are right for you see Martin’s full best bank account guide for a rundown of all the current offers, including First Direct, the UK’s no. 1 rated bank for customer service.

“And remember switching accounts is easy. Within seven days your old account is closed, any direct debits and standing orders are moved across and any payments going to your old account is auto-forwarded to your new one.

“Though note, when opening a bank account you will be credit scored.  To qualify for freebies most banks require a minimum monthly pay in (just a way of really setting a minimum salary amount) and you to switch direct debits to them.”

The £360 million, or $ 480 million, Sailing Yacht A, one of the largest private sailing yachts in the world, was spotted sailing in the crystalline waters of Formentera again Tuesday — this time by UFC star Conor McGregor.

Formentera, the tiny Spanish island near Ibiza, is a hotspot for celebrities and billionaires. Its white sand and turquoise water resemble the Caribbean.

McGregor has been living it up in Ibiza with family and friends after losing his fight to Floyd Mayweather in late August. He was enjoying life aboard boats and yachts himself when he spotted Sailing Yacht A, owned by a Russian billionaire named Andrey Melnichenko.

His first post was captioned: “The 360 million dollar ‘sailing yacht A’ pulls up out the back garden this morning. ‘Sailing yacht A’ its called. That’s how you know the owner doesn’t need to give a bollox about anything. Sailing yacht A. Most expensive sailing yacht in the world. 360mill. Owned by a Russian billionaire. Google it. Crazy!”

First he admired it from afar in his Versace dressing gown, before deciding to get a closer look.

He got out a huge lens to zoom in and posted: “Quick scope of it before I depart like a pirate towards it.”

He even took out a Jet Ski to get a closer look of what he calls a “super boat.” He said: “It’s like something out of a bond film. Can’t believe this just pull up.”

His photos show the sheer size of the 469-foot-long vessel, which boasts masts that, at 330 feet above the water line, are taller than Big Ben and which counts eight decks (connected by a series of lifts), a free-floating spiral staircase, huge swimming pool, and an underwater observation pod among its stunning features.

Finally, he posted a photo of himself in front of Sailing Yacht A that has been liked almost 1 million times.

The caption says: “That was a mad scene. I only posted ‘race to the next yacht’ two days ago and then this one pulls up right out my back garden. The biggest one of all. This is an eye opening level of opulence to witness first hand. To me, it is truly motivating. I’m starting to think I don’t have a wealth belly just yet. I’m more just rich fat now. I must keep eating. I wonder if my lunch is ready. Happy Tuesday.”

McGregor has, however, been living it up in Ibiza on an impressive yacht, joined by family and friends, since losing a fight to Floyd Mayweather on August 26. They appeared to be enjoying the Balearic sunshine.

Pandora has settled ongoing speculation around its future by confirming it has received a $ 480 million investment form SiriusXM, while offloading its ticketing business Ticketfly to Eventbrite for $ 200 million.

Rumors have persisted for a while that Pandora was courting buyers, with SiriusXM touted as one potential suitor. However, nothing came to fruition, with Pandora insisting it wasn’t selling and that it was “focused on executing its strategy and its operating model.”

As things have transpired, Pandora was correct with this claim, however it’s now clear that the duo have been cosying up of late, as evidenced by the substantial investment.

“This is a very significant juncture in Pandora’s journey,” noted Pandora founder Tim Westergren, who rejoined the company as CEO last year. “After years of innovation and hard work we now have critical pieces in place: A massive and highly engaged audience, a market-leading digital advertising business, a best-in-class product portfolio, and a robust balance sheet that gives us the flexibility we need to attack what is becoming a larger and larger opportunity as digital music enters a new golden age.”

Pandora snapped up Ticketfly for $ 450 million less than two years ago, so to sell the company for 55 percent less will come as a blow. The transaction constitutes $ 150 million in cash and a $ 50 million note.

Founded in 2000, Pandora’s internet radio service is available in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand and now claims 100 million listeners. Traditionally, Pandora had differed from the likes of Spotify in that it didn’t offer an on-demand subscription tier, but this changed when the company unveiled a Spotify-like subscription service earlier this year in the U.S. Leading up to that, Pandora had been on a major reinvention spree, spearheaded by Westergren’s return to the hotseat last March before rebranding with a new logo.

Today’s investment from SiriusXM comes a month after a $ 150 million cash injection from KKR & Co LP, meaning that Pandora has a $ 800 million-plus warchest as its disposal, which it says will be used “sharpen” its operational focus, and “strengthen the company’s board of directors,” according to a statement.

“Pandora is now poised to advance to the next stage of the company’s lifecycle,” added Pandora director Tim Leiweke. “We are pleased that the conclusion of our strategic review resulted in a major investment by a world class company like SiriusXM, and with the sale of Ticketfly, we will now redouble our focus on execution supported by a strong balance sheet.”

Pandora went public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) back in 2011, and the company’s shares peaked at more than $ 37 in 2014, around $ 20 above its IPO price. However, Pandora’s stock has dropped to below $ 10 in recent months, prompting Pandora to seek a buyer or investment — whichever came first.

Sirius XM will invest $ 480 million in internet-radio pioneer Pandora, the companies said in a joint statement Friday.

Pandora will also sell Ticketfly, the ticketing startup it bought for $ 450 million in 2015, to Eventbrite for $ 200 million.

Under the terms of the Sirius XM investment, a subsidiary of the satellite-radio powerhouse will buy issued series A convertible preferred stock of Pandora, representing 19 percent of the company’s current outstanding shares.

The deal comes after private equity firm KKR & Co LP agreed last month to invest $ 150 million in Pandora.

KKR’s agreement gave Pandora a 30-day-period to look for an alternative deal. This period was set to expire on Thursday, and so Sirius XM was racing late on Wednesday to beat that deadline and clinch its own investment in Pandora, sources told Reuters. But on Thursday, Pandora announced that it had extended the deadline “to explore interest expressed by a strategic investor in making a substantial minority investment in Pandora, in lieu of the KKR investment.”

We now know that investor was Sirius XM.

To sell or not to sell

Pandora has endured on-an-off M&A chatter for months, as it tries to re-invent its business with the launch of an on-demand competitor to Spotify and Apple Music. That product finished its rollout in April.

Liberty Media, which controls satellite-radio Sirius XM, has been seen as the only real buyer in town.

That means Pandora has had to endure stock swings whenever Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei talks publicly about the company — which is often. Maffei reportedly made an informal offer for Pandora at roughly $ 15 a share early last year. But in March, Maffei said that Pandora was “overvalued,” and that $ 10 per share was something that could work. Right now, it seems that Liberty/Sirius XM isn’t ready to take the plunge, at least for whatever price Pandora is looking for. The new investment also includes terms that prevent Sirius XM from picking up over 31.5% of Pandora without Pandora’s board signing off, according to Variety.

Still, any partnership between Sirius XM and Pandora would be a boon to both companies, given that they target a common audience. Pandora is seeking to become more popular with drivers, many of whom subscribe to Sirius XM, while Sirius XM is looking to expand its internet and mobile presence.

Pandora had been urged to explore a sale by Corvex Management LP, an activist hedge fund run by Keith Meister, a protégé of activist investor Carl Icahn. Corvex owned 8.6% of Pandora as of the end of March.

OnePlus took its time getting the finish right, testing 30 options before settling on the final one seen here. It used three coatings of the color, sandblasted it twice for a bright finish, and finally added an anti-fingerprint layer to keep it free of smudges.

The technology inside the phone remains the same, which means a Snapdragon 821 processor, a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED screen with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, a 16-megapixel camera on the front and rear, plus a 3,400mAh battery with fast charging. Until now, the OnePlus 3T has been available in gunmetal gray and soft gold.
