  • Yellow vest protesters took to the streets across France on Saturday, in what quickly devolved into violent clashes with police.
  • The demonstrators began by protesting a planned fuel tax hike weeks ago, but participants have continued even after the French government canceled the increase.
  • The protesters continue to be outraged over French President Emmanuel Macron, economic inequality, and worsening living standards.

For the fourth weekend in a row, yellow vest protesters took to the streets across France to demonstrate against President Emmanuel Macron, high taxes, and economic inequality.

The weekly protests have steadily grown more violent, and French officials said by the end of Saturday, dozens were injured and hundreds arrested.

Thousands of police officers were deployed to control the riots, eventually firing tear gas and rubber bullets, and repelling demonstrators with water cannons.

Here’s how the clashes unfolded:

The so-called “Yellow Vest” movement was first sparked weeks ago, when protestors began demonstrating against a planned fuel tax increase.

Ebay is a terrific online platform for finding and selling rare coins, and certain coin types prove particularly rare among collectors.

While to the average person a £2 coin might not look like anything special, certain designs are sought after.

A £2 coin selling for £1,300 on eBay right now is a great example of this.

The listing, put up by user mehmetikiz2012, currently has 22 people watching it.

The £2 coin is said to have a particularly rare Magna Carta design on it.

The description reads: “Magna Carta. 1215-2015. Very rare £2 two pound coin.

“800 years anniversary. Rare collectors item. Super condition. Only a few in the United Kingdom.”

So what is so special about this design? The design features a king with a scroll and a quill in his hand.

The official Royal Mint website paints more of a picture about this much coveted coin design.

The description reads: “Drawn up over 800 years ago, the Magna Carta was a catalyst for a journey towards freedom for the ordinary man, in the United Kingdom and across the world.

“We marked this historic moment with a coin struck in celebration of the Magna Carta – the charter of freedoms.”

The edge inscription of the coin is said to read “Foundation of liberty”.

The designer of the reverse designer was John Bergdahl, and the mintage is TBC.

Last month, a rare Battle of Britain 50p coin was selling for £1,000 on eBay.

The coin was created to commemorate the 1940 Battle of Britain, when the country was at risk of being invaded.

The design on the coin features a dramatic scene of three soldiers running towards barbed wire.

Fighter planes soar overhead through the sky, and the words ’The Battle of Britain’ are clear in the middle of the coin, with the date 1940 below.

The listing, created by greeneyes_2013, currently has 18 watchers on the buying and selling forum, and the seller has 100 per cent positive feedback.

The Royal Mint website provides more information about this and what makes it special among collectors.

It says: “In the summer of 1940 Britain faced the threat of invasion. It would fall to brave young pilots, and their crews, to protect the country’s defences – the Battle of Britain had begun.

“75 years later, we honoured the few with a commemorative 50p, the only official United Kingdom coin to be struck for the anniversary.”

We’ve discussed some of Sony’s absurdly priced endeavors recently — the absurdly priced Xperia Touch projector comes to mind — and now here is another one. The Xperia Hello, a robotic assistant designed to rival Amazon’s Alexa speakers, is now available for preorder in Japan. The price is advertised as 149,880 yen at Sony Stores, which is equivalent to about $ 1,300. Devices will ship starting November 18th.

What do all those dollars buy you with the Xperia Hello? Engadget Editor James Trew had a few minutes with the device at IFA and came away impressed with its performance (before the pricing was announced, of course). The robot responds to voice control, but it also can read facial expressions and gestures. It runs on Android and has an onboard 4.55-inch tablet with a resolution of 1,280 x 720.

Otherwise, it has the features you’d expect from a smart speaker with an LCD screen. You can make video and voice calls via Skype, as well as leave video messages for other people. The speaker can also deliver calendar notifications, make new appointments, check the traffic and weather, and keep an eye on other members of your family in the house. Xperia Hello is also compatible with LINE, a popular Japanese messaging system; additionally, it can move around on its own.

The features are pretty standard, so it’s difficult to justify the high price of this device. Many of Amazon’s smart speakers can do similar tasks for a fraction of what this costs, and with this Sony speaker, you’re locked into the company’s proprietary Agent platform (a rival to Alexa). Sony wants consumers to think of this as a robot and a member of the family, rather than just a smart speaker. But until it can actually drive to the coffee shop and bring me a latte, it’s safe to say that this device is overpriced.

One lucky collector, who wished to remain anonymous, spotted the coin and is now planning to sell it after the Royal Mint confirmed was caused by a genuine minting error.

The Standing on the Shoulders of Giants £2 error coin has not been pierced, which means it has only been stamped on nickel brass.

It it missing the inner cupronickel disk, made from 75 per cent copper and 25 per cent nickel.

Whilst approximately 10,270,000 of these types of coins were issued for circulation in 2007, this is the first £2 of this kind that experts at GoCompare’s Coining It In and coin traders at Chards have seen.

Speaking to the Sun Online, a spokesperson from Coining It In said: “We have only come across four or five similar coins, none of which have been £2 coins.

“There are very few coins to compare it with but as the coin has been authenticated by the Royal Mint it this makes this coin particularly interesting to collectors or error coin enthusiasts.”

The anonymous coin collector has an authentication letter from the Royal Mint that comes with the coin.

Royal Mint said: “What therefore looks to have happened is that an unpierced blank has somehow been struck between two pound dies.”

The coin is not yet up for auction but experts say an ultra-rare silver 2p with a similar error was found earlier this year and was estimated to be worth £1,350.

And a very rare £2 coin worth sixteen times its original value is now in circulation.

Four designs were made to celebrate the Commonwealth Games in 2002, with one for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The most sought-after of the four designs is the coin designed for England, but it can be hard to spot it among a pile of change.

This is because the four coins feature the same design with only the flag to tell them apart.

The England coin is nearly identical to the Northern Irish version, with the only mark of difference being the small “Red Hand of Ulster” on the NI coin.

If £1 coins are more your thing, there is a way to find out if your coin is worth a fortune.

With the launch of the new 12-sided £1 coin back in March, coin collectors have been desperate to snap up coins missing from their collection, as the old £1 coins get taken out of circulation. A full list of the most rare £1 coins can be found on ChangeChecker.org.
