Yu Delu and Cao Yupeng admitted to manipulating the scores of matches they played in certain ranking tournaments from 2015-17, following an investigation resulting from suspicious betting patterns in the Far East.
Yu, ranked No. 52, was handed a suspension of 10 years and nine months, and ordered to pay costs of 20,000 pounds ($ 25,000). He was involved in fixing five matches across five tournaments over a period of 2} years to earn money for himself and friends, and also admitted to lying to investigators and betting on snooker when banned from doing so.
Cao, ranked No. 44, was banned for six years — with 3{ years of that ban suspended — for fixing the outcome of three of his matches in 2016, including one at the prestigious UK Championship.
His suspension was reduced from six years because he showed remorse. He had to pay costs of more than 15,000 pounds ($ 19,800).
They are the longest suspensions for fixing since English player Stephen Lee was banned for 12 years in 2013. Yu would have received a ban of the same length had he not decided late in the investigation to plead guilty.
The disciplinary panel of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, which announced the bans, said Yu took “the initiative in offering match-fixing services” and, in one match, “the stakes placed on the result were 65,000 pounds and would have generated a profit of 86,000 pounds.”
“The misconduct of Mr. Delu represents a scourge to the game of snooker,” the panel said.
Yu won two of the five matches he agreed to fix, having arranged for the correct score to be 4-3 in frames to either player. Cao lost all three of the matches he agreed to fix.
“It is very sad,” WPBSA chairman Jason Ferguson said, “when talented players are attracted to the opportunity to make money from fixing matches.”
The star played Emmett Cullen in the franchise; teaming up with Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
The five-part series grossed over $ 3.3 billion worldwide, despite poor reviews that saw the instalments range from 25% to 49% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans adored it, though; and Lutz has predicted the cast would be up for coming back if a new story were prepared.
“Oh yeah, I think if Stephenie Meyer and Melissa [Rosenberg] wrote something I think we’d all for sure come back for it,” he told ScreenRant.
Asked if he had any particular ideas for his character, he said: “Well, yeah so Stephenie wrote an excerpt called ‘Emmett and the Bear’ that showed how he turned into a vampire and how Rosalie saved his life.
“And I remember reading that and I was like, ‘Man, this is so cool, I wish we could be able to show this.’
“Because you’re able to show Alice’s transformation, you’re able to show Jasper’s, and Rosalie’s – but not Emmett’s. So I was always kind of like, ‘I wish we could do that.’
“And I think it would be really cool to have a spinoff of Rosalie and Emmett, that would be really fun to do.”
As for whether it could be rebooted without the original stars, he admitted: “I could see it being rebooted. Probably not anytime soon because the other movies, the CGI, the budgets, everything was great. I don’t know what more would be different besides having new actors in it.
“But if somewhere new technology happens, or new VR experiences and you could integrate the fans into the movie, that’d be a new experience.”
Stewart was asked about the movies by Entertainment Tonight earlier this year.
“On one hand, it’s 10 years ago—it’s wild, it’s surreal to think about that,” she said.
“But then on the other, my memories are still so close to me, it doesn’t feel like a lifetime ago, necessarily. It’s trippy.”
When asked if she’d ever return to the character of Bella, she said somewhat sarcastically: “Oh, yeah sure… Honestly, start sending scripts my way. Let’s start building this. Let’s really explore [it].”
Other stars of the films – which also included New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn – Part One and Breaking Dawn – Part Two – included Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene and Anna Kendrick.
Catherine Hardwicke helmed the first movie, with Chris Wetz, David Slade and Bill Condon going on to take charge of the rest.

LONDON — The 10-year anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers is just weeks away and, for most people, it will be a reminder of the banking excesses that led to the financial crisis.
For some former Lehman staffers, however, the anniversary is a chance to have a party.See the rest of the story at Business Insider

The Italian, appointed to take over from Antonio Conte only three weeks ago, is remarkably, the ninth different permanent manager to be appointed by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich since he bought the club in 2003.
Sarrim who had a smile on his face as he made his plea on Friday, knows full well that Abramovich has a fearsome reputation as a man with little patience with his managers at Chelsea, with Luiz Felipe Scolari lasting only seven months in the hot seat in 2008-09.
In fact the longest anyone has managed under the Russian billionaire is Jose Mourinho in his first spell at the club – three years three months.
Former Napoli manager Sarri faces his friend and admirer Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team on Sunday in the Community Shield game at Wembley, insisting that he wants to pick up some silverware early in his Chelsea career – but warning that it will be tough.
Sarri, who has only been working with his squad for two and a half weeks, admitted that to survive he knows he will have to win trophies, and he said: “Will I get time to get it right like Pep?
“It depends on the club. I want to stay here for 10 years.
“I know I have to win. And then it depends on the club. I want to stay here for a long time.”
Sarri joined on a three year contract last month after lengthy negotiations finally prised him away from Napoli, where he had already been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti. His team at Napoli won widespread praise for the football they played – but he did not win a trophy in his three years there.
The 59 year old Italian said: “It is important to start with a trophy. Important to prepare for the step forward.
“First of all I am looking forward to playing at Wembley, because it is my first time.
“The match will be difficult for us. I want to win because. But right now it is the performance that is important.
“We have to improve of course. I hope to see from my team another improving performance.”
Sarri has this week been frustrated in seeing several transfer targets slip through his fingers, with striker Gonzalo Higuain and defender Mattia Caldara both joining AC Milan instead of Chelsea from Juventus, and another defender, Daniele Rugani, now staying with Juve.
Chelsea are still in talks with Inter Milan over tough £30 million midfielder Matias Vecino, and with Shakhtar Donetsk’s former winger Bernard, and are also chasing Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha.
They hope to get at least one more deal over the line before next Thursday’s deadline.
Sarri said: “I don’t know what will happen. I talk with the club about the market. We’ve spoken about positions but no names.
“I think we need something. We have very good midfielders – but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics.”
The new Chelsea manager did get one major bonus yesterday as forward Pedro signed a new one year deal.

IBS symptoms include bloating, constipation and stomach cramps. This patient cured her chronic diarrhoea from irritable bowel syndrome by taking these cheap probiotic supplements everyday.![]()
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is condition that affects the digestive system, according to the NHS.
It affects between 10 and 20 per cent of the UK population, and has been linked to oversensitive nerves in the gut.
There’s no cure for IBS, but some diet changes and medicines may help to reduce symptoms.
Jacqueline Baker, 58, cured her IBS symptoms by taking Alflorex food supplements everyday, she said.
Baker was diagnosed with IBS, diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease 10 years ago.
She had an incredibly restrictive diet – mainly bread and potatoes – as fruit and vegetables triggered her symptoms.
“I suffered from a constant upset stomach, with no warning regarding bowel movements,” Baker said. “I couldn’t leave the house.
“When it occurred, I would have to run to the toilet immediately. I had to be near a toilet all the time.”
Baker started taking Alflorex probiotic food supplements, to try and reduce her symptoms.
The supplement contains the B. infantis3564 probiotic, which works to alleviate signs of IBS directly.
After four months of taking Alflorex everyday, Baker doesn’t have to plan her day around the toilet anymore.
“I have normal and regular bowel movements and I can eat a normal diet,” she said. “I can’t believe I can eat fruit and not get an upset stomach or stomach cramps.”
IBS is usually a life-long condition, and can have a big impact on patients’ everyday lives, the NHS said.
Symptoms include stomach pain or cramps, which are usually worse after eating.
Bloating – a feeling of an uncomfortably full tummy – and constipation are also signs of the condition.
Patients often report having watery diarrhoea, or unexpected urges to pass stools.
ANALYSIS:
Nothing particularly Earth-shattering debuted at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona — the usual array of smartphones were unveiled with Samsung taking top billing, net neutrality emerged as a talking point thanks to FCC chair Ajit Pai’s attendance, and the 5G steamroller trundled into second gear with some interesting early innovations rearing their heads.
But buried within the hullabaloo of Samsung flagships and promises of a future 5G utopia, HMD Global — the “home of Nokia phones” — unveiled not one, not two, but five new Nokia-branded phones.
Constituting four smartphones, one of which was the Nokia 7 Plus flagship, as well as a nostalgia trip in the form of the reimagined Nokia 8810 “Banana Phone,” it was clear that the Nokia mobile phone brand is here in a big way.
Above: Nokia 8810 “Banana Phone”
If you’ve followed Nokia’s mobile phone saga over the past few years, you’ll already know the background story, but here’s a quick recap. Nokia itself no longer makes phones — in 2016, the Finnish company helped establish a new business vehicle called HMD Global that would ensure Nokia’s mobile phone brand lives on through a licensing arrangement. HMD Global basically develops the Nokia-branded smartphones and feature phones, with Foxconn subsidiary FIH Mobile taking care of manufacturing duties.
So Nokia (the company) has no direct role in developing these phones, aside from lending its famous name to the handsets. After all, why would you use the corporate-y “HMD Global” nomenclature on your device when you have a perfectly good legacy mobile phone brand, recognized by billions, at your disposal?
Though it is still early days, things seem to be working out reasonably well. In December, HMD Global marked its first full year of its 10-year licensing deal with six smartphones and five feature phones on the market. Throw into the mix the further five new devices announced at MWC last week, and Nokia will soon have 16 new mobile devices available to buy around the world. And early numbers have been encouraging.
In December, one analyst at Counterpoint Research reported that Nokia-branded phones were the 8th most popular globally in terms of shipments in Q3, while it was apparently the top-selling brand in the Middle East and number three in the U.K. It’s worth noting noting that these figures bundle both feature phones and smartphones together.
Its one year anniversary and @HMDGlobal has had a great year so far for comeback of @nokiamobile brand:
From #0 Ranked Mobile Phone Brand (FP+SP)
#8 Global
#5 in India
#4 in Russia
#3 in Indonesia
#3 in UK
#1 in Middle East https://t.co/XyQwjmWTxk— Neil Shah (@neiltwitz) December 1, 2017
Last month, however, the same analyst reported promising figures for Q4, noting that Nokia smartphones specifically had outsold HTC, Sony, Google, OnePlus, Lenovo, and a host of other brands. Apparently, HMD Global shifted 4.4 million Nokia smartphones in the previous quarter.
Talking about smartphones performance, in Q4 2017, @HMDGlobal sold more Nokia branded phones globally and is now bigger smartphone brand than following individual brands:
HTC
Sony
Alcatel
Lenovo
OnePlus
Gionee
Meizu
Coolpad
Asus— Neil Shah (@neiltwitz) February 12, 2018
These numbers are not concrete, but they are promising. And HMD Global was clearly looking to strike while the iron is hot with the five new phones announced at MWC. However, it’s important not to get too carried away, because Nokia’s recent footprint puts it at just one percent of the overall smartphone sales market share.
Moreover, it’s worth looking at the bigger picture to remind us of how we got to this point.
The timing of the latest launches was notable in terms of historical context — the Nokia mobile phone brand has embarked on quite a downward trajectory over the past decade.
In February 2008, a Gartner report pegged Nokia as the world’s number one mobile phone brand by far, accounting for around 40 percent of all smartphone shipments the previous year. However, Apple had only just shipped the first iPhone in mid-2007, and the first commercially available Android phone didn’t hit the market until late 2008. And with the smartphone war only just beginning, Nokia snapped up Symbian in 2008 to boost its own ambitions in the burgeoning space.
What happened next was rapid. It’s always interesting to look at certain tech companies’ share prices around the time that the iPhone and Android devices starting rolling out. In the case of Nokia, its shares slid almost vertically between October 2007 and October the following year, its stock price dropping more than half. By 2011 the company was in Microsoft’s pocket as the duo fought to push a third force in the smartphone operating system realm, and Nokia’s stock price hit an all-time low in 2012.
By 2014, Nokia’s mobile phone business was owned outright by Microsoft, but by the following year Microsoft had taken a $ 7.6 billion writedown on the acquisition. And in 2016 Microsoft pretty much washed its hands of the whole sorry Nokia episode.
It’s at this point that Nokia realized it would have to start again from the bottom up, because it didn’t have the necessary manufacturing infrastructure to produce hardware at scale. But what it did have was a brand. A powerful brand that millions of people over a certain age recognize. It didn’t matter who actually made the phone — all that mattered was that there was a clear Nokia badge on the phone.
While many had written the whole HMD Global / Nokia escapade off as a lost cause, armed with a powerful brand, a mixture of mid- and high-end Android phones, and a dash of nostalgia with the Nokia 3310 and the just-announced 8810, what we have is a credible attempt at reviving the once-mighty Nokia phone brand.
But one swallow doesn’t make a summer. Or, in HMD Global’s case, a couple of reasonable quarters and a new slate of phones don’t mean world domination. But what this does show is the power a brand can hold over consumers.

If Elon Musk makes sure Tesla keeps growing over 10 years—by the numbers that matter to investors—he could emerge the wealthiest person in the world.
–
Under a new compensation plan for Musk, the CEO’s compensation will be based entirely on the financial performance of the company. “Elon will receive no guaranteed compensation of any kind—no salary, no cash bonuses, and no equity that vests simply by the passage of time,” the company announced as part of a plan that is contingent on the approval of shareholders in late March.
–
The plan was patterned after a similar one that was put into place for Musk in 2012—one for which Musk ended up meeting nine out of 10 milestones that included development targets for the Model X and the Model 3. This time the 12 milestones, over 10 years, are entirely rooted in financial targets—for market capitalization and for operational milestones including revenue.
–
The plan does leave room for a separate Tesla CEO to be appointed below Musk. And it adjusts the milestones upward if Tesla acquires other companies or downward if it spins off areas of its business as new companies. And it claims to create almost $ 600 billion in shareholder value at the end of the 10-year period.
–
What’s in it for Musk? One element is that he’ll be able to use his shares in Tesla to back loans for other ventures. Musk can’t actually sell any of his shares for five years after exercising the options, though. The package is projected to be worth about $ 55.8 billion if Musk accomplishes it all—which, according to some sources, including Bloomberg, could help make him the world’s richest person.
–
Faith in Master Plan
–
In the preliminary documents, the board that oversees the company pointed to Tesla’s Master Plan, Part Deux, which aims to expand solar-energy generation and integrate solar products with battery storage, build out the vehicle product line “to cover all major forms of terrestrial transport” including a semi, advance autonomous technology, and enable customer cars to make money for them when not being used. “With these goals, the Board believes that Tesla has the potential to become one of the most valuable companies in the world,” the proposal stated.
–
Musk is not technically one of the original founders of Tesla but is widely considered a co-founder, and he has taken ownership in the company in a way that few other CEOs have for any company. From his earlier investments of his own money in Tesla to keep it going—and, for the most part, to meet the goals of his original Master Plan—to recently camping out alongside the Model 3 production line, he (and his Twitter account) have become the outward face of the company.
–
The new compensation plan comes amid growing concern that Musk might turn his attention from Tesla to one of his other projects such as SpaceX or the Boring Company—any of which might have their own lucrative returns—or jump wholeheartedly aboard a plan to colonize Mars (yes, really).

Today’s Tesla enjoys a market valuation that last year passed that of General Motors and Ford plus a soaring stock price that has, in recent days, been trading at more than $ 350 a share. That has all come despite some hefty quarterly losses and an especially clumsy production ramp-up for its Model 3 sedan. And despite how ambitious these targets sound, they still don’t put any guarantee on long-term profitability—just that the hype machine could carry on for quite some time.
