<p class="p1">The former <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/latest/coronation-street" target="_blank">Coronation Street</a> actress, who played the first transgender character in a British soap, said that it would be an &#8220;anomaly&#8221; for her to still play the part since there have become more high-profile trans stars.</p>
<p class="p1">Speaking about her role as Hayley from 1998 to 2014, Julie said: &#8220;It ended just as there was this whole movement of young trans actors coming through and it would have been such an anomaly, it would have been absolutely wrong for me to be playing that part now.&#8221;</p>
<p class="p1">The 46-year-old added that it would be &#8220;anachronistic&#8221; for her to play the part now, saying: &#8220;It just happened at the right time that I went and everyone else took over.&#8221;</p>

<p class="p1">Julie will soon be in the third and final series of the hugely popular <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/latest/itv" target="_blank">ITV</a> drama Broadchurch when it returns to screens later this month.</p>
<p class="p1">She admitted that she still gets &#8220;Hayley hugs&#8221; from Corrie fans and opened up about the experience of being a part of such a staple British show.</p>
<p class="p1">&#8220;I&#8217;m really proud of all of that and it changed my life beyond measure,&#8221; she said of her part as Hayley. &#8220;It never leaves you, it never does. I&#8217;ve left it, very much so, but she will always be a part of me, will Hayley.</p>
<p class="p1">&#8220;I love that part and I love that whole time in my life but I feel very separate from it now.&#8221;</p>

<p class="p1">Julie is set to appear in Broadchurch alongside David Tennant and Olivia Coleman as a sexual assault victim at the centre of the plot for the final series.</p>
<p class="p1">She recently revealed her <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/767840/Broadchurch-final-Julie-Hesmondhalgh-apprehensive-join-ITV-drama-cast" target="_blank">nerves at joining the cast</a>, saying: &#8220;I was apprehensive because it&#8217;s a difficult thing when you move over from being a fan of something to actually being a part of it and getting the right balance of being very happy to be there and being a little bit of a competition winner.&#8221;</p>
<p class="p1">She also spoke about her reservations covering rape and serious assault for &#8220;entertainment&#8221;, but praised the way Chris Chibnall&#8217;s drama handled the storyline.</p>
<p class="p1">&#8220;From the very start Chris said to me that the main objective was to show how things have changed for people how have experiences sexual assault… the belief that you are telling the truth and you will be treated with dignity and respect,&#8221; she added.</p>

<p>Kim commented: &#8220;She was all sweetness and light, I knew there was something there. How that woman won <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/latest/celebrity-big-brother" target="_blank">Celebrity Big Brother</a> when Jedward were sitting there, I have no idea!</p>
<p>&#8220;Public I don&#8217;t know how you let that boring, Fag Ash Lil&#8217;, with what I know now to be a rotten mouth on her about me… She shouldn&#8217;t have won &#8211; it should have been Jedward.&#8221;</p>

<p>Kim continued: &#8220;I am bit tired of people on Loose Women winning &#8211; she&#8217;s got a good following apparently. It was wrong, she was not entertaining. I&#8217;d rather Nicola had won!&#8221;</p>
<p>The TV star went on to brand James Cosmo as the &#8220;most disappointing person in that house&#8221;, over his failure to stick up for her.</p>
<p>&#8220;He disappointed me terribly, he&#8217;s a great favourite of my husband and I&#8217;s,&#8221; Kim said: &#8220;He was another one in the gang. He went in that diary room and he slated me disgustingly, I thought, &#8216;What are you doing?'&#8221;</p>

<p>During the interview, Kim addressed her row with Nicola, in which the latter said she didn&#8217;t understand her because she didn&#8217;t have any children.</p>
<p>She added: &#8220;She would say anything… I did have a child, my child died. They were all desperate to win, especially her. Something in my opinion is wrong with that girl.</p>
<p>&#8220;I was glad to be taken away, because frankly I&#8217;d worn myself to the bone. I&#8217;m a tough woman, but I never thought I&#8217;d have to face this disgusting behaviour. Nicola is an evil little beggar.&#8221;</p>
