<p>The new show began last night with David Walliams at the helm and it was hoped that it would emulate the success of American late night programmes. </p>
<p>Last night&#8217;s episode included a chat with Martin Clunes, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/772808/The-Nightly-Show-Donald-Trump-David-Walliams-press-conference-ITV" target="_blank" rel="tag">a sketch of Walliams crashing a Donald Trump press conference</a> and a ventriloquist.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, viewers were not impressed with the series&#8217; debut and took to social media to demand that the News at Ten be reinstated to its 10PM slot. </p>
<p>One person tuning in slammed: &#8220;Whatever possessed <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/latest/itv" target="_blank" rel="tag">ITV</a> to postpone News at Ten for a show featuring a ventriloquist with a monkey. Pretty awful TV so far #thenightlyshow.&#8221;</p>

<p>Another added: &#8220;F**king hell! I&#8217;ve never wanted to see the News at Ten more than now!! #thenightlyshow This is bloody awful, I&#8217;m afraid @itv missed the mark.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Let&#8217;s see how long it takes ITV to bring back News at Ten this time. If that opening monologue&#8217;s anything to go by not long #thenightlyshow,&#8221; a third wrote. </p>
<p>Someone else continued: &#8220;@ITV David Walliams #NightlyShow is truly awful, gut wrenching rubbish. Martin Clunes is virtually incoherent, pathetic drivel turned it off.&#8221;</p>
<p>A fifth begged: &#8220;Can we have News at Ten back please? #TheNightlyShow&#8221;</p>

<p>However, there were some who did enjoy the new addition to the ITV schedule, with one viewer tweeting: &#8220;@davidwalliams @ninaconti Great Show. O&#8217;l Clunesy was a great sport. Looking forward to tomorrow #thenightlyshow (sic).&#8221;</p>
<p>While another simply commented: &#8220;@nightlyshow really enjoyed the show!&#8221;</p>
<p>David Walliams will continue to host the series for the remainder of the week with John Bishop taking over next week. </p>

<p>The 39-year-old broadcaster and his co-presenter Louise Minchin couldn&#8217;t stop laughing after they attempted to set off a homemade rocket on this morning&#8217;s edition of BBC Breakfast.</p>
<p>His rocket was seen spluttering and falling over on its stand instead of flying into the air during the demonstration for the Terrific Scientific campaign.</p>
<p>Dan was heard calling his vinegar-fuelled rocket &#8220;truly pathetic&#8221; after it collapsed and sputtered across the ground.</p>

<p>His poor show came in stark contrast to 48-year-old Louise&#8217;s own rocket flight which was a big success after she launched it.</p>
<p>Louise&#8217;s rocket went shooting skywards and both she and Dan watched as it soared up before coming to a land on the ground.</p>
<p>Dan later took to social media to talk about his rocket fail after a viewer told him on Twitter that the hilarious scenes had left them in &#8220;stitches&#8221;.</p>

<p>&#8220;The Rocket of Justice was a magnificent disappointment #TooMuchVinegar #TerrificScientific,&#8221; Dan told his 453,000 Twitter followers.</p>
<p>He followed up with another post in which he joked: &#8220;Which story does this best represent? Leicester&#8217;s title defence? <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> #RubbishRocket.&#8221;</p>
<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/latest/bbc-breakfast" target="_blank">BBC Breakfast</a> shared GIFs of the two presenters&#8217; rockets, which showed the stark difference in their results. </p>

<p>The Terrific Scientific campaign aims to try to encourage children to pursue a career in science but it&#8217;s not certain how much of an impact Dan&#8217;s rocket would have had on younger viewers watching the programme today. </p>
<p>This is not the first time that Dan&#8217;s <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/latest/bbc" target="_blank">BBC</a> broadcasts have gone viral, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/699873/rio-olympics-hen-party-dan-walker-live-tv-viral" target="_blank">last year during the Rio Games a live link was interrupted when a raucous hen party turned up</a> while he was presenting on the beach.</p>
<p>The video of Brazilian bride-to-be Maria Vieira went viral after she and her friends ended up gatecrashing Dan&#8217;s piece to camera and started revealing details for the upcoming nuptials. </p>
<p>Weather woman Carol Kirkwood also got in on the act after she also launched a rocket which went flying high.</p>
