Spotted: CW president Mark Pedowitz stirring speculation about a Gossip Girl reboot at the Television Critics Assoc. winter press tour.

“There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet,” the exec told reporters on Thursday when asked about the possibility of reviving the XOXO franchise. “I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Bros. and [exec producers] Josh [Schwartz] and Steph[anie Savage], ’cause you don’t want to do anything without them.”

Despite pulling in mediocre ratings during much of its six-season run, the original Gossip Girl — which concluded in 2012 — was a pop culture phenomenon that made household names of stars (most notably Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick).

The CW is currently home to reboots of Charmed, Dynasty and Roswell.

Let’s block ads! (Why?)

Riverdale's Skeet Ulrich Previews Gina Gershon's Arrival as Jughead's Mom: 'There's a Lot to Be Worried About' https://briefnews.eu/riverdales-skeet-ulrich-previews-gina-gershons-arrival-as-jugheads-mom-theres-a-lot-to-be-worried-about/ https://briefnews.eu/riverdales-skeet-ulrich-previews-gina-gershons-arrival-as-jugheads-mom-theres-a-lot-to-be-worried-about/#respond Fri, 23 Nov 2018 02:11:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/riverdales-skeet-ulrich-previews-gina-gershons-arrival-as-jugheads-mom-theres-a-lot-to-be-worried-about/

This season on Riverdale, Jughead’s dad F.P. Jones has stepped back and let his son take control of the Southside Serpents, and he’s also getting hot and heavy with Betty’s mom Alice. He should be in a good place, right? Well, there’s still the matter of his wife… Jughead’s mom Gladys.

We haven’t met Gladys yet — she skipped town with Jughead’s sister Jellybean before the series began — but she’ll make her debut on the CW teen drama later this season, with Gina Gershon joining the cast to play her. And F.P. might not be all that thrilled to see her, series regular Skeet Ulrich admits. “I think there’s a lot to be worried about” with Gladys’ arrival, he hints. F.P. has just “started to get life by the horns a little bit and find a workable life with Jughead,” he notes, “and she’s the X-factor.” (Or did he mean ‘ex’ factor? Hmmm.)

F.P. and Gladys were estranged when she left town, and Ulrich says they don’t exactly fall into each other’s arms when she returns, either: “As [with] most toxic relationships, there’s someone that just sets you off. The reunion is certainly not what he would’ve wanted.” Gladys is actually “just like” F.P. was in Season 1, he adds, “just such a wildcard. You just don’t know what’s coming.”

Ulrich knew what was coming from Gershon, though: “I worked with Gina a long time ago. We did a Paul Schrader movie together called Touch [in 1997] and haven’t seen each other since. It’s great to work with her again. She’s really bringing something so unique and interesting [to the role].” (Additional reporting by Vlada Gelman)

Adventure Time EP Talks Bubblegum and Marceline's Series Finale Moment: 'There's Enough to Draw a Conclusion' https://briefnews.eu/adventure-time-ep-talks-bubblegum-and-marcelines-series-finale-moment-theres-enough-to-draw-a-conclusion/ https://briefnews.eu/adventure-time-ep-talks-bubblegum-and-marcelines-series-finale-moment-theres-enough-to-draw-a-conclusion/#respond Tue, 04 Sep 2018 00:35:04 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/adventure-time-ep-talks-bubblegum-and-marcelines-series-finale-moment-theres-enough-to-draw-a-conclusion/

Adventure Time crammed countless individual conclusions into Monday’s series finale, each satisfying in their own way, but no singular moment elicited more joyful gasps than the confirmation of Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen as an official romantic couple. When Marceline thought Bubblegum had become the latest casualty in the battle against GOLB’s minions, she unleashed hell on the enemy, only to discover that Bubblegum had survived the attack — a moment they celebrated with a long-awaited first kiss.

As for how the momentous lip lock came together, executive producer Adam Muto tells TVLine, “There was some conversation about [logistics], but it was really up to [Hanna K. Nyströmthe], the storyboard artist who got that scene, to decide what her take on it was going to be. It actually wasn’t in the outline when it was submitted. It didn’t say that they kiss. It just said they ‘have a moment.’ When Hanna boarded that, there was a little note in the margin that said ‘Come on!’ with a big exclamation point. That was the only note. I can’t argue with that.”

That kiss, coupled with a few shots of the two looking cozy in the final montage, would suggest that Bubblegum and Marceline have finally decided to make their relationship official — an assumption Muto says you would not be incorrect to make.

“There’s enough to draw a conclusion,” he says. “I don’t want to lay out their entire future — what their relationship will be like after this, and all that — but there are enough pieces there that you can kind of construct what their life will be like going forward. We knew that if we put this in, it would get some attention. But would it be too much attention? … Or would we be downplaying it too much? We knew we wanted to incorporate it, and in the end, you just have no control over how people will remember things.”

Muto says that the Bubblegum-Marceline kiss has “been an ongoing conversation. … It certainly wasn’t in the show’s original pitch. It was a relationship that evolved over time,” offering former writer/storyboarder Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe) the credit for building and nurturing that connection.

Sir David Attenborough shamed by the Queen ahead of broadcast: 'There's no pleasing you!' https://briefnews.eu/sir-david-attenborough-shamed-by-the-queen-ahead-of-broadcast-theres-no-pleasing-you/ https://briefnews.eu/sir-david-attenborough-shamed-by-the-queen-ahead-of-broadcast-theres-no-pleasing-you/#respond Tue, 10 Apr 2018 01:04:10 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/sir-david-attenborough-shamed-by-the-queen-ahead-of-broadcast-theres-no-pleasing-you/

Renowned broadcaster Sir David Attenborough has met the Queen on many occasions, having produced a number of her Christmas broadcasts in the late 1980s.

But the acclaimed writer was put in his place when he asked the Queen to change her clothes, as the colour did not compliment the room he planned to broadcast in.

“There is no pleasing you people from the media,” the Queen reportedly said to Sir David.

“I am told by one lot that I have to wear something colourful so I can be seen in a crowd; and then you come along and tell me that I have to wear something pale and nondescript.”

However, this didn’t stop Her Royal Highness from working with Sir David again, in fact, the pair have collaborated on the new ITV documentary The Queen’s Green Planet.

Some would assume, Sir David is used to being in the company of the longest serving monarch then, but he has revealed he still gets anxious when it comes to meeting her.

He admitted he approached the garden walk and talk for the ITV documentary with some uneasiness.

“Yes, there was a certain amount of apprehension because all sorts of things could have gone wrong,” Sir David told Radio Times.

“There were problems in that where the palace is, geographically, there are always police sirens and ambulance sirens that make filming difficult.

He added: “But she took it all in her stride.

“It was a privilege of course, a very nice occasion — and she was very gracious.

“She is very unsolemn, very good at putting people at their ease.”

The Queen’s Green Planet is a one-off documentary, which focuses on Her Majesty’s plans to create a global network of forests across all 53 Commonwealth countries.

Sir David says the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy project is a scheme she cares for deeply because of her personal interest in the environment.

“She certainly cares for the Commonwealth,” he said. “And she very clearly cares for the natural world.”

Sir David, who was knighted by the Queen in 1985 and awarded the Order of Merit in 2005, believes the project with ensure the future of forests.

As well as following the Queen on her mission to preserve the natural habitat for generations to come, The Queen’s Green Planet will also see Prince Harry and Prince William do their part for the environment.

The cameras will follow Prince Harry when he plants trees in the Caribbean and Prince William and his family in Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest.

The Queen’s Green Planet airs Monday at 9pm on ITV.

Emmerdale star Emma Atkins fears Charity Dingle will be CUT: 'There's a shelf life' https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-star-emma-atkins-fears-charity-dingle-will-be-cut-theres-a-shelf-life/ https://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-star-emma-atkins-fears-charity-dingle-will-be-cut-theres-a-shelf-life/#respond Sat, 24 Feb 2018 02:47:34 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/emmerdale-star-emma-atkins-fears-charity-dingle-will-be-cut-theres-a-shelf-life/

The actress, who has starred in for 18 years, confessed that Charity’s behaviour could lead to her departure.

Over the years, fans of the long-running soap have watched as the barmaid has tried to con several men out of their fortune and sold her own son.

But in recent episodes, she has shown a much softer side as she embarks on a relationship with Vanessa Woodfield (played by Michelle Hardwick).

However Emma isn’t convinced their happiness will last and worries that Charity will end up in trouble again.

“I’m blessed with really good dialogue,” she said.

“Her humour runs throughout and it’s so important when you’re playing such a b***h.

“I’m so lucky with the writing because there could come a point where you think we’ve just had enough now, how much of a b***h can you be before there’s a shelf life?”

Emma went on to add to The Sun: “I’m sure there will be a shelf life to my character at some point, but right now I’m blessed with the fact that humour is a big part of life in general.

“When you’re having huge traumas in your life, sat there with a cup of tea crying and then laughing, we’ve all been there.”

Speaking about Charity’s romance with Vanessa, the 42-year-old insisted their relationship is “genuine and loving”.

“Laughter is an absolute tonic,” she said. “I think that’s the beauty of what she’s found with Vanessa.

“There’s no manipulation going on, it’s actually genuine and kind and loving.

“She’s perhaps not been used to that. She’s often been the unkind one, and she’s found herself being a bit nicer. She can’t believe it.”

Thursday night’s instalment of Emmerdale saw Charity and Vanessa agree to give their relationship a go after the vet tried to make The Woolpack barmaid jealous on a night out.

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm.

EastEnders spoilers: Alfie Moon for UNEXPECTED return? 'There's unfinished business' https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-alfie-moon-for-unexpected-return-theres-unfinished-business/ https://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-alfie-moon-for-unexpected-return-theres-unfinished-business/#respond Wed, 17 Jan 2018 21:32:18 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/eastenders-spoilers-alfie-moon-for-unexpected-return-theres-unfinished-business/

The 53-year-old plays Alfie Moon on Albert Square and has not been seen since last year’s spin-off Redwater.

Alfie was previously seen fighting for his life when he went through an operation and fans were left in turmoil when the show ended without revealing if he lived or died.

Earlier this week, Shane said that he “declined” an offer to go back to the soap.

Today, the actor has backtracked on him comments, explaining that he would never say never to a return to EastEnders.

He told Metro: “Forgive me I used the wrong words. I wouldn’t – and in fact have never declined going back to EastEnders – as it’s part of my life. It’s like family!

“And it goes without question that if EastEnders want me, I’d jump at the chance of stepping back into Alfie’s boots!”

A soap insider added to the publication: “Shane and Alfie will always be part of the EastEnders family.

“It’s very exciting to have Kat, Mo and Jean joining Stacey on the Square and there will always be unfinished business where Kat and Alfie are concerned so who knows what the future holds?”

This comes as Aaron Sidwell, who played Steven Beale, has opened up on his experience in the soap, admitting that he was “ready to go”.

He told The Daily Star: “I don’t want to do a soap again. It wasn’t a discipline I enjoyed.

“I mean, I admire the actors on there who are so insisting that they can do it, but I was definitely ready to go.

“There was a lot of negativity around. And my storylines did meander for me. I also think the soap actor can sometimes get taken for granted too.”

The 29-year-old confessed that he felt more at home in a “theatre environment” where he was allowed to push more boundaries.

Aaron added that he found the decision to kill off his character a strange one, saying that he feels sorry for Adam Woodyatt, who plays his father, Ian Beale.

“Killing off another one of his on-screen children seemed like an odd decision, but the writers assured us there’s a bigger picture,” he explained.

Aaron concluded: “Time will tell if it was the right thing to do.”

EastEnders continues tomorrow on BBC One at 7.30pm.

Last night’s Emmerdale saw Tom Waterhouse reveal his true identity as Joe (played by Ned Porteous), the son of Chris who Charity (Emma Atkins) framed for murder years ago.

However, Debbie (Charley Webb) threw a spanner in the works when she dumped him after realising she’d been duped into approving the building of a golf course, which will destroy her family home.

Though it didn’t take long to Joe to work his magic and win Debbie (Charley Webb) around, while she was blissfully unaware that her cottage was being repossessed.

As fans tried to compose themselves after the humongous bombshell, they began speculating that Zoe – who was played by actress Leah Bracknell until 2005 – and with good reason.

Soap boss Iain Macleod hinted the fan favourite will be coming back to the Dales in full force.

“Potential there is scope to introduce other characters around [Tom and Graham] further down the line,” he said.

Actress Leah is currently battling cancer and recently suggested she won’t be returning to work anytime soon.

“No one is employing me since I was diagnosed, the phone hasn’t been ringing,” she told the Sunday Mirror.

Actress Charley Webb has now revealed what will come in the aftermath of Joe’s awakening and it doesn’t sound good.

“Debbie is in so much shock – she just can’t take it in. Her initial reaction is hatred but then she goes into herself a bit and is quiet after that,” she explained.

“She eventually decides to trash the house. He has had all of her stuff taken out of the house so she goes in to just destroy it.”

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.

Coronation Street spoilers: Fans spot EPIC Roy Cropper blunder 'There's an imposter’ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-fans-spot-epic-roy-cropper-blunder-theres-an-imposter/ https://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-fans-spot-epic-roy-cropper-blunder-theres-an-imposter/#respond Wed, 03 Jan 2018 22:18:32 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/coronation-street-spoilers-fans-spot-epic-roy-cropper-blunder-theres-an-imposter/

The ITV soap’s long-running character became caught up in the unfortunate drama between Luke Britton (played by Dean Fagan) and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) following yesterday’s distressing scenes with racist business clients.

As Luke struggled with an unexpected arrest for his violent actions and being charged for aggravated assault, the two men came back to exact their revenge by vandalising Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) garage and then went on to nearly hit Roy (David Neilson) as they screeched over the cobbles.

Yet as the high-octane scenes took place, fans were taken-aback when they noticed that not only did Roy’s backflip into a neighbour’s garden seem to stretch reality, but the actor’s stunt double was also clearly visible.

Taking to Twitter, viewers were in stitches as they attempted to process what they’d just witnessed.

“Roy Cropper back flipping over Gail’s Garden Fence! #youvebeencroppered #CoronationStreet @roycropper777,” one person wrote.

Another posted: “That Roy Cropper stunt double on Corrie! #CoronationStreet.”

“Roy Cropper has an impostor!! #CoronationStreet #Corrie,” a third wrote, followed by: “That was a bit over the top Roy.”

The appearance of Roy’s stunt double wasn’t the only gaffe on tonight’s instalment, as many continued to spot errors.

One person asked: “#CoronationStreet Why did Roy just walk past the garage if the alarm was going off and not investigate???”

“Why is there an advent calendar in Coronation Street? #Corrie #CoronationStreet,” another added.

Coronation Street continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.

Neighbours spoilers: Terese to ELOPE with Paul? 'There's something about him' star reveals https://briefnews.eu/neighbours-spoilers-terese-to-elope-with-paul-theres-something-about-him-star-reveals/ https://briefnews.eu/neighbours-spoilers-terese-to-elope-with-paul-theres-something-about-him-star-reveals/#respond Mon, 09 Oct 2017 10:19:34 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/neighbours-spoilers-terese-to-elope-with-paul-theres-something-about-him-star-reveals/

With Terese (played by Rebekah Elmaloglou) seemingly over her old flame Paul (Stefan Dennis), all eyes are on Gary (Damien Richardson) as he prepares to marry the love of his life after winning her from the scheming baddie.

Paul is not one to take rejection lying down though as he plots to disrupt Terese’s big day with a stunning announcement of his own – he is engaged to Courtney Grixti (Emma Lane).

However, soap fans know that things are never smooth when it comes toweddings, something that cast members Olympia Valance and Mavournee Hazel know all too well.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Olympia, who plays Paige Smith, teased that viewers can expect “a lot of drama” in Erinsborough this week.

What’s more, Piper Willis star Mavournee joked: “It’s going to be a typical Ramsay Street wedding!”

With that in mind, when asked who they would like to see Terese ending up with, the pair were undecided.

Mavournee, 21, confessed: “We love the idea of Gary and Terese, but there’s something about Paul… They’re like magnets.”

Olympia, 24, echoed this, adding: “There’s the nice guy who loves you unconditionally but there’s the bad boy and they both work!”

Will Terese pick the good guy or will she succumb once more to Erinsborough’s most irresistible villain?

Neighbours airs weekdays on Channel 5 at 1.45pm and is repeated at 5.30pm.
