Countryfile fans have certainly seen a number of strange goings-on on the the BBC show.

However this evening gave them another shock as they began watching Adam Henson birthing a lamb.

Venturing into his lambing pens, he announced: “Our first block of lambing is in full swing!”

“All of these are pregnant in the pens, but I’ve got one yew who is giving birth now.”

After claiming one lamb to give to another sheep, he noticed the sheep in question was having some trouble giving birth.

He continued: “She needs a little bit of assistance to get the lamb out.”

However Adam also wanted to help one of the stray lambs get adopted, so he wanted to perform what was called a “wet adoption.”

He continued: “Then I want to do a wet adoption, it’s called, so I need to collect the birth waters as the lamb is born – and I’ll rub the lamb in the waters.”

Viewers than sat through the newborn lamb being pulled out of its mother’s womb by Tom.

He began by pulling one leg out, before reaching for the second.

Once the lamb was out, he proudly announced: “The newly born lamb is breathing!”

However fans of the show were a little perturbed by the process, and quickly began speaking out about it on Twitter.

One viewer complained: “Watching a sheep give birth has put me off my strawberry cheesecake #Countryfile.”

Another agreed: “Really don’t know why they showed a lamb being birthed in prime time – when like everyone is having their food. #countryfile.”

While a third concurred: “So glad I’ve just had my dinner #countryfile.”

Recently Countryfile presenter Anita Rani spoke out about why people still watch the show.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk she explained: “I am surprised at how many people love the programme. It’s 30 years old, it’s been going for a long, long time and it’s most successful at the moment.

“I just think people want to switch off from whatever else is going on in the world and on a Sunday night at seven o’clock.

“It’s just the perfect time to have something which taps into nature.”

Countryfile continues Sunday at 7pm on BBC One.

While neither guest on Good Morning Britain were happy with the current deal laid out by Prime Minister Theresa May, they each had different reasons.

While JD Wetherspoon owner Tim Martin explained how he doesn’t agree with the £39 million charge, Geeta disagreed with the entire process of Brexit.

She brought up the infamous bus which claimed the NHS was losing money to the European Union, and pinned the blame solely on former UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

However Susanna Reid jumped in to the conversation to point out some facts to the owner of Nosh Detox.

As Geeta listed her complaints, host chimed in: “Yes but politicians lie to us all the time!”

As the debate continued surrounding Nigel Firage’s involvement in Brexit Geeta added: “I just think he [Nigel Farage] needs to be obliterated on every level.”

Tim laughed and said: “That’s a bit harsh!”

Susanna was a little surprised by this comment as well and hit back: “Well that’s a bit dramatic.

“And to be fair to Nigel Farage it wasn’t his bus!”

Greta later went on to explain that she is all for a second referendum to stop Brexit.

The entrepreneur, who earlier cited currency inflation as the cause of her business’ woes, explained: “I honestly don’t want it. Brexit was responsible.”

Giving final words to the debate, Geeta exclaimed: “Just stop. Just stop.

“If [Brexit] doesn’t come into effect it’s fine.”

However Tim was all for the Brexit, but wants the Prime Minister to alter the deal.

He said: “Theresa, cut the tariffs. Don’t pay £39million. Don’t agree to chequers – we’ll all be happy.”

Yesterday saw Piers Morgan taking on Alastair Campbell in a heated Brexit exchange.

Piers told him: “You don’t ignore the referendum.

“You can’t just dismiss it. The will of the people can change.”

But Alastair said he was addressing the referendum, and added: “But if her deal gets defeated by parliament what should you do then?”

He went on to offer an ultimatum of his own, saying: “It’s her deal or no deal.”

Alastair appeared on the morning show to promote the latest volume of his book.

During the interview he spoke about Gordon Brown calling a woman “bigoted” during his last campaign, to which he called it: “A horrible, horrible, horrible moment.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.

Trevor Noah Blasts Hillary Clinton for 'Just Protecting Herself' In Campaign Advisor's Harassment Scandal https://briefnews.eu/trevor-noah-blasts-hillary-clinton-for-just-protecting-herself-in-campaign-advisors-harassment-scandal/ https://briefnews.eu/trevor-noah-blasts-hillary-clinton-for-just-protecting-herself-in-campaign-advisors-harassment-scandal/#respond Tue, 30 Jan 2018 13:54:57 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/trevor-noah-blasts-hillary-clinton-for-just-protecting-herself-in-campaign-advisors-harassment-scandal/

After making headlines with a buzzy cameo on the Grammys, Hillary Clinton became the target of Trevor Noah’s criticism on Monday’s The Daily Show.

It wasn’t Clinton’s Grammy moment that raised Noah’s ire; in fact, Noah began the segment (embedded below) by defending the former First Lady’s appearance on the award show, in which she read an excerpt from Michael Wolff’s Trump exposé Fire and Fury.

But Noah then segued into another recent story about Clinton, which revealed that she had protected a 2008 campaign advisor after allegations of sexual harassment came out against him. The advisor, Burns Strider, was accused of inappropriately touching and sending suggestive emails to a younger staffer — but despite advice from her campaign manager to fire Strider, Clinton merely docked his pay and reassigned his accuser to a different job on the team.

“Look, there’s a few areas where I don’t necessarily expect Hillary Clinton to nail it. Managing emails, visiting Wisconsin. You know, weaknesses,” Noah began. “But I won’t lie: I expected standing up for a woman on her staff to be one of her strengths. So this story is disturbing.”

Even more puzzling to Noah were Clinton’s Jan. 26 tweets about the story, in which she claims the allegations against Strider were “taken seriously and addressed.”

“I know that this incident happened 10 years ago, and maybe 10 years ago, the world was a different place,” Noah said. “But I thought in 2018, with everything we’re learning about now, maybe Hillary might come out and say, ‘Hey, guys. I realize now that I was part of the problem in the way I handled this. When I look back, I realize I should have done better.’”

Noah then revealed that Strider went on to receive another job in politics, but was ultimately fired for harassing female staffers in similar ways.

“It feels like Hillary’s not only trying to dodge all the blame, she wants to present herself as having always been on this woman’s side, which doesn’t fly,” he concluded. “You could argue that if Hillary had fired him, she would have been protecting many women, instead of just herself.”

Not enough to be smart: Having gut instict 'just as vital for survival' https://briefnews.eu/not-enough-to-be-smart-having-gut-instict-just-as-vital-for-survival/ https://briefnews.eu/not-enough-to-be-smart-having-gut-instict-just-as-vital-for-survival/#respond Wed, 24 Jan 2018 00:53:43 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/not-enough-to-be-smart-having-gut-instict-just-as-vital-for-survival/

Basing life or death decisions on hunger memories is almost as effective as thinking up intelligent solutions, the study shows.

Scientists used computer modelling to predict how animals could best enhance their survival when faced with food shortages and predators.

They found that hunger responses allowed a less intelligent animal to survive nearly as long as one with a big brain.

Lead researcher Dr Andrew Higginson, from the University of Exeter, said: “Many of us sometimes get ‘hangry’, when hunger makes us emotional and changes our behaviour.

“Our model explains why there is a link between our gut and our decisions: hunger can act as a memory telling us there’s not been much food around, which it’s important to respond to in the wild.

“The usefulness of such memory means that animals, including humans, may appear to be processing a great deal of information in the brain when in fact they are just following their gut.“

At the heart of the study is the idea that an animal’s body condition tells it how successful it has been in the past.

This can act as a useful guide to how it should behave in the future.

Such a simple form of physiological memory may have allowed many species to avoid evolving large brains, which require a lot of energy.

Co-author Professor John McNamara, from the University of Bristol, said: “If it costs a lot of resources to be so clever, then natural selection will have found a cheaper way to make decisions.“

Physiological memory may be closely tied to emotions, the team believes.

It may explain why it can take so long to calm down after feeling threatened.

Remembering the feeling of threat keeps the body ready to fight or flee should the danger return.

Humans and other animals may even have emotions partly because emotional “memory” is so useful for survival, say the scientists.

The study, reported in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B, is said to have implications for conservation.

“By using their body condition as a cue, the animals in our model can still perform well when the environmental conditions change suddenly,” said Dr Higginson.

“This suggests that some species might be able to cope with the effects of climate change better than expected.”

Phillip Schofield STUNS viewers as he begs Holly Willoughby to do THIS: 'Just lick it!’ https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-stuns-viewers-as-he-begs-holly-willoughby-to-do-this-just-lick-it/ https://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-stuns-viewers-as-he-begs-holly-willoughby-to-do-this-just-lick-it/#respond Tue, 14 Nov 2017 11:43:55 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/phillip-schofield-stuns-viewers-as-he-begs-holly-willoughby-to-do-this-just-lick-it/

As the duo opened the ITV show today, Phillip, 55, announced that he would be attempting the One Chip Challenge.

The One Chip Challenge involves participants eating one tortilla chip flavoured with Carolina Reaper, the hottest pepper on the planet.

Phillip Schofield revealed to viewers that Holly would not be participating in the challenge, so therefore he would be doing it on his own – but he desperately tried to change her mind.

“There is no way I’m doing this and I’ll tell you why I’m not doing this… there is a sick bucket over there just in case one of us pukes up… I puked up on telly once after having a sip of tobasco and that’s all over YouTube! I’m not doing that again – not even for you,” the mother-of-three said.

She added: “There’s the sick bucket, you can make friends with that later…I’ll hold your hair back!”

After watching clips of various people attempting the One Chip Challenge on the internet, Phillip suggested they set up a poll asking whether Holly should do it or not.

He then turned to Holly and shouted: “Lick it! Lick it! Just lick it!” as Holly Willoughby giggled away before introducing a clip which showed Phillip doing a shot of chilli vodka back in 2012 alongside Emma Willis.

This Morning fans certainly want Holly to take part and took to Twitter to set up their own polls.

“I think @hollywills should try the chilli with @Schofe it would be fun to watch and brighten up a few peoples mornings #ThisMorning,” one person wrote, while another added: “Oh come on Holly, give the chip a lick!!”

Other viewers were concerned with Phillip’s choice of words as he shouted: “Lick it!”

“#Thismorning don’t think Phil should repeatedly tell Hollie to lick it,” one user tweeted, while another said: “I can’t handle listening to @Schofe telling @hollywills to ‘lick it’.”

This Morning continues weekdays at 10:30am on ITV.

This Is Us Team: Premiere's Stunning Reveal Is 'Just a Piece of the Puzzle' https://briefnews.eu/this-is-us-team-premieres-stunning-reveal-is-just-a-piece-of-the-puzzle/ https://briefnews.eu/this-is-us-team-premieres-stunning-reveal-is-just-a-piece-of-the-puzzle/#respond Wed, 27 Sep 2017 04:53:46 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/this-is-us-team-premieres-stunning-reveal-is-just-a-piece-of-the-puzzle/

Sure, we wanted to know how Jack died… but we didn’t want to find out like this.

Season 2 of NBC’s This Is Us got off to a decidedly morbid start, with the final moments of Tuesday’s premiere delivering a big clue about how dad Jack died: As teen Kate and teen Randall wept over their father’s demise (teen Kevin was blissfully unaware, for now), Rebecca drove alone, wearing a Steelers T-shirt, a plastic bag of Jack’s possessions in the passenger seat next to her. She pulled up to the old Pearson house, charred and gutted after what must’ve been a massive fire, and let out a heartbreaking howl of grief.

The reveal does come as a bit of a relief to the cast, since the question of how Jack died won’t be hanging over the show anymore: “It’s like a pressure valve release, for a little bit,” Milo Ventmiglia told fans and reporters at a post-premiere Q&A on Tuesday. But as his co-star Mandy Moore points out, “we don’t know the full story. We’ll just say that. That’s just a piece of the puzzle. We have 18 episodes!”

More pieces of the puzzle might be found in the tiny details contained within that flashback, Moore hints: “Kate was holding a dog, Randall’s got a girlfriend, and Kevin has a broken leg. These are all things that I think people are going to see… the origin of in the next couple of episodes.”

The filming of that final scene, with Moore in the car, was shrouded in secrecy, creator Dan Fogelman says, which involved months of intricate planning: “We built a replica of the house five hours away. We had code names for everything.” But Moore ended up nailing the emotional scene in a single take, he remembers: “Mandy came to set, and they put her in the car, and what you see is literally her first take. After all that planning, it was like 30 seconds, and then we were done.”

It’s been a mystery to fans, but Jack dying in a house fire was always the plan in the writers’ room, Fogelman reveals: “We had talked about the fire, and what ultimately happened to Jack, pretty much from day one, when we started.” And he adds that we won’t have to wait another year to put all of those other puzzle pieces into place: “All the answers about how Jack died, it’s all going to happen this season.”

IBS is 'just a tummy ache' – FIVE myths about irritable bowel syndrome BUSTED https://briefnews.eu/ibs-is-just-a-tummy-ache-five-myths-about-irritable-bowel-syndrome-busted-2/ https://briefnews.eu/ibs-is-just-a-tummy-ache-five-myths-about-irritable-bowel-syndrome-busted-2/#respond Sat, 11 Mar 2017 09:28:08 +0000 http://briefnews.eu/ibs-is-just-a-tummy-ache-five-myths-about-irritable-bowel-syndrome-busted-2/

Nearly one in four GPs say they diagnose someone with IBS once a week and 81 per cent said they’ve seen an increase in cases over the past ten years.

It is thought that almost one in five people have IBS, yet many of us still don’t fully understand the condition.

Research by Buscopan IBS Relief found that despite 90 per cent of people claiming to have heard of IBS, only a quarter – 25 per cent – correctly identified that it’s caused by muscle spasms in the bowel.

The study also found that 15 per cent of Brits question whether IBS is a real medical condition.

GP Dr Roger Henderson, gastroenterologist Dr Jeremy Sanderson, Psychologist Emma Kenny and Consultant Dietician Helen Bond reveal the truth behind some of the most common misconceptions about IBS.

Irritable bowel syndrome: Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome can include constipation and diarrhoeaGETTY

Irritable bowel syndrome: Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome can include constipation and diarrhoe

1.   IBS is just a tummy ache

False: One of the symptoms of IBS is stomach pain. However many people with the condition often experience more than just tummy discomfort. Other symptoms can include diarrhoea, constipation and bloating of the abdomen.

Dr Roger Henderson said: “Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a group of symptoms rather than just a tummy ache, although abdominal pain is the most common symptom. IBS is best described as a functional bowel disorder that occurs when the bowel acts in an abnormal way without signs of damage caused by disease, and all other tests are negative.”

If you’re experiencing abdominal pain, there are treatments called antispasmodics that can be taken at the first sign of a flare up. They work differently to painkillers helping to quickly ease spasms in the intestines at the root cause of pain.

2.   Stress does not trigger IBS

False: Stress is in fact one of the most widespread triggers of IBS and it can have a considerable physical effect on our bodies, particularly the digestive system. For some IBS sufferers, stressful situations can bring on a flare up and others experience high levels of stress because they worry about their symptoms. Like many other chronic conditions, excessive worry can negatively impact symptoms and make them worse.

Dr Jeremy Sanderson, said: “Stress for a lot of people can trigger symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

“There is a rich supply of nerves in the gut, apparently more than the brain, and the nerve transmitters are largely the same. Stress is thought to mainly alter gut motility, especially speeding it up but it also alters sensory perception. As a consequence, ordinary sensations may be perceived by the brain as abnormal and interpreted as severe pain.”

If stress is a big trigger, some relaxation techniques such as meditation or breathing exercises could help as well as physical activities such as walking, running or swimming. If you’re feeling particularly overwhelmed, it’s a good idea to speak to your GP.

3.   IBS is all psychological

False: IBS itself is not a psychological condition but it can make sufferers feel embarrassed and isolated due to the unpredictable nature of symptoms. Statistics show  of people with IBS argue it affects their confidence and one in six have not told anyone about their condition. For this reason it is important not to ignore the psychological impact of IBS.

Emma Kenny said: “The problem with hiding an issue such as IBS is the stress it puts on us psychologically. The very fact that there is a desire to ‘hide’ the issue, suggests a level of shame about the condition and so it can be difficult for the sufferer to deal with it emotionally.

“IBS often causes symptoms that can feel ‘taboo’ to talk about so many sufferers can feel quite isolated.

“It is important to be open about your symptoms with friends and family as talking honestly and openly about your IBS will actually help you deal with stress and this could actually improve your condition.”

4.   IBS is an allergy or intolerance

False: Over 10 per cent of the public believe that IBS sufferers need to eat a gluten free diet while five per cent believe it is a form of lactose intolerance.

Although experts don’t know what actually causes IBS, it is accepted that there are some common triggers that can make symptoms flare up.

These triggers vary from person to person but can include certain foods, so under the supervision of a healthcare professional, some sufferers are advised to cut them out of their diet for a period of time, while making appropriate substitutions to see if it makes a difference.

Helen Bond said: “Many people with IBS find that certain foods and drinks can affect their symptoms, such as high fibre, spicy or fatty foods, coffee and other caffeine containing drinks as well as alcohol.

“Although diet can make a big difference to the frequency and severity of symptoms, identifying trigger foods can be confusing, as they can vary from person to person.

“To help identify your triggers try keeping a food diary and highlight which foods affect your gut symptoms, or if stress is a trigger you could also identify stressful situations and try to avoid these as much as possible in future. Always

5.   IBS is the same as IBD

False: Although the conditions sound similar they are very different. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) includes Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
IBD is characterised by the presence of inflammation in the intestine whereas IBS is caused by the dysfunction of the digestive track. IBS does not turn into IBD, but it is possible to have both conditions.

Dr Roger Henderson said: “Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Inflammatory Bowel Disease sound the same and are both common illnesses that affect the gut but they are both very different.

“The fundamental difference between IBS and IBD is that IBD is structural, meaning there is damage to the gut whereas IBS causes gut symptoms.

“In IBD, inflammation may occur beyond the gut to areas such as skin, joints and eyes but this does not occur in IBS. Having IBS does not predispose someone to IBD but if either condition is suspected a medical assessment should be sort.”

Buscopan IBS Relief is priced at £4.99 for 20 tablets and £8.34 for 40 tablets
