The Voice 2019 continued tonight and saw Sir Tom Jones stepping up to knock out the contestants he was removing from the show.

Equipped to Overcome, Deanna, and Roger all sang their hearts out to stay in the show as it opened tonight.

However Roger had some trouble remembering his words as he began his performance, leaving Tom a little disappointed.

Jennifer Hudson gave some encouraging words after his performance had finished, however, as she said: “The show must go on and you took us there.”

But Sir Tom hit out a little, saying: “I know you can do better than that and I know you stumbled through it – and I know you’ve got a great sounding voice.”

Distraught by his blunder, Roger tried to explain: “I was concentrating on the words but my mind just went blank.”

Solemn, he added: “I just want you to know, Tom, I’m sorry.”

Roger’s slip up may have cost him his spot on the show, as Sir Tom eventually chose Deanna to go through to the next round.

Fans were not happy with Tom’s decision, however, as they began hitting out on Twitter.

One wrote: “Really Tom? So disappointed. Either the Trio or Roger for me. Sorry. #TheVoiceUK.”

Another added: “I definitely disagree with Tom’s decision there. #TeamTom isn’t off to the best start. #TheVoiceUK.”

While a third said: “#thevoiceuk oh goodness, it should have been Roger… I’d buy his music. I don’t love Deanna I’m afraid.”

Many viewers did agree with his choice, though, with one writing: “Right choice Tom… #thevoiceuk.”

Another agreed: “Tom made the right choice with Deana! #TheVoiceUK.”

Unfortunately for Roger, there was no chance of him being stole in the competition. 

Meanwhile Jennifer Hudson brought Moya over to the live shows.

This meant she sent home both Connie and Sarah. 

Will.i.am had to make similar sacrifices, as he went home with Next Gen in his final line-up.

But do they have what it takes to win? 

The Voice 2019 continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.

The 44-year-old admitted he felt let down by Amir, 31, after believing they had formed a friendship during their time in the jungle.

The comedian called the father-of-one out for “lying” after seeing clips from the show when he left Australia.

Speaking about watching the footage back, Iain said: “The one that disappointed me the most was Amir because I thought Amir and I got quite close. 

“We were talking about going to Pakistan and stuff together,” he said, during an appearance on today’s Loose Women.

“Then I kind of saw some stuff afterwards where he was actually lying about me, so I was disappointed by that.”

However, the father-of-two vehemently denied he was bullied while appearing on the show, saying: “When I came out and there were all these stories of bullying, I don’t class it as bullying.

“People being slightly mean to me behind my back, I don’t call that bullying.”

Despite this, he said he was annoyed that some of the celebrities had accused him of playing a game, adding: “I was really disappointed that people had been saying things behind my back about a ‘game plan’ and that I wasn’t trying hard enough. 

“But when you’re in there you do go a bit nuts. Everyone’s hungry. You get so bored. You can have days of doing nothing.”

Meanwhile, Iain revealed that he frequently speaks to Rebekah Vardy and Dennis Wise, despite them both being accused of bullying him.

“I have spoken to Becky since, I’ve been speaking to Becky a lot on WhatsApp. I’ve been speaking to Dennis too.”

It was probably an almost impossible task. Disney and Lucasfilm have built the hype and expectations for The Last Jedi to unprecedented heights during the two years since The Force Awakens hits cinemas.  

Critics have been overwhelmingly positive towards the new movie but diehard fans who flocked to see Episode 8 as soon as it opened have flooded Youtube channels dedicated to Star Wars fandoms with their complaints.

It should be noted these are all fans who have followed sites and channels dedicated to the Star Wars franchise and who have spent two years discussing their excitement and hopes for The Last Last Jedi.

The word “disappointed” seemed to crop up the most as they singled out the Luke storyline, Kylo Ren and Rey scenes, Snoke, plot holes “as big as The Supremacy”, the failure to deliver certain expected moments and one very unfortunate moment involving Luke and a female alien.

Speaking to hosts Ben Shephard and from the Gold Coast, he opened up about his time in the jungle and his communication with his children following his elimination. 

Probing the politician over his exit, Ben asked: “Have you managed to speak to Boris yet since you got out of the jungle and what did he make of your performance?”

“Well, is he still PM [Prime Minister],” Stanley began before quickly realising his mistake and waving at the camera: “I’m sorry, is he still Foreign Secretary? I hope he is. 

“I haven’t had telephonic communication, I have had a Whatsapp communication and yes he is as thrilled as I am.”

Following the blunder Susanna and Ben could be heard giggling in the studio while viewers took to Twitter to comment on his slip-up. 

One viewer tweeted: “Stanley I don’t know if Boris is still PM slip of the tongue yes… but very telling that behind all the bumbling & clowning around the Johnson’s want a new house #GMB.”

While another noted: “Freudian slip by Stanley Johnson on #GMB ‘Is Boris still PM? . . . Foreign Secretary?'”

Stanley went on to add that he doesn’t feel he had let his children or the country down with his performance in the jungle. 

And addressing how he felt when he heard he had been booted out of camp, he admitted: “You know I was really disappointed not to win.

“I was totally disappointed. I gave it my best… The best man or woman will win and it has been tremendous fun.”

Saturday Morning With James Martin debuted on ITV at the same time as the chef’s competitor on BBC One, but couldn’t meet the powerhouse’s huge ratings surge. 

Despite helming the BBC programme for a decade before jumping ship last year, it appears that many of his fans didn’t follow suit. 

One million viewers tuned in to his original home to watch Saturday Kitchen, whereas disappointingly only half – 500,000 people – watched his new series.

Taking to Twitter to share their dislike of Martin’s new series, one viewer said: “The Beeb has never been the same since James Martin left but this is recorded, plagiarised ITV crud. Will stick with Saturday Kitchen thanks.”

“Not quite sure why James Martin left Saturday Kitchen as he’s doing exactly same thing but on ITV??” Another person asked. 

A third agreed: “Can we just talk controversy and betrayal… James Martin has a new Saturday morning cooking show after leaving Saturday Kitchen.”

Meanwhile, some fans preferred chef Matt Tebbutt leading the BBC show, and struggled to get on board with the new format.

“@SaturdayKitchen Liked James Martin’s new show. But I do prefer the Sat Kitchen format and the archives are such a factor. Matt’s the man,”(sic) one person commented.

James dismissed the idea that his new project would be similar to Saturday Kitchen, claiming that the only similarity is “him”.

“I think if you see it, it’s not a comparison,” he told HuffPost UK. “The only comparison is me. I can’t change me.”

Saturday Kitchen continues Saturday at 10am on BBC One, whereas Saturday Morning with James Martin airs at 9.30am on ITV.
