Super Smash Bros Ultimate scores massive Nintendo Switch sales win for 2018

Super Smash Bros Ultimate has only been available for a short while but has already grabbed an impressive sales crown.

The new Nintendo Switch games release is another killer exclusive from the industry giant and provides some much needed new content for the console going into the end of 2018.

And for anyone who thought Super Smash Ultimate might fall flat with Switch owners, there’s already been some good news.

If you head over to Amazon.com right now, you can see that Super Smash is now the top of the Video Games best sellers list.

And for those who might be wondering if the new game will help to shift consoles, a Nintendo Switch console is now second in the list.

Red Dead Redemption 2 rounds out the top three and is no doubt helping to sell PS4 and Xbox One consoles during the holiday period.

But right now its Super Smash Bros Ultimate dominating the storefront for this weekend at least.

Amazon also has another list that confirms the Amazon Best Sellers of 2018 (So Far), with products sorted by category.

And it just so happens that Super Smash Ultimate is top of that list too.

That means that the new battler from Nintendo is now the most sold video game on Amazon for the year, so far.

There are no complete sales numbers to draw from so it’s hard to predict if Super Smash Bros Ultimate will retain its place.

The top best sellers of 2018 currently include:

1) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

2) $ 20 PlayStation Store Gift Card (Digital code)

3) $ 10 PlayStation Store Gift Card (Digital code)

4) PlayStation Plus: 12 Month Membership (Digital code)

5) amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector (Nintendo Switch)

Reviews of the new game have been high-scoring so far, with positive reactions from both fans and critics.

There were some worries earlier this year that Nintendo may have put too much effort into trying to sell Super Smash to their Nintendo Switch crowd.

While no one would expect the company to stay quiet about the game, a lot of time was dedicated to it through recent livestreams, and at E3.

However, it appears Nintendo’s Strategy has paid off big time.

SUPER SMASH BROS ULTIMATE – UNLOCKING CHARACTERS

When you start Super Smash Bros Ultimate you can only play eight of the 74 characters on offer.

The rest of the fighters have to be unlocked via the World of Light storyline.

However, there is a trick you can use to try and unlock all characters in record time.

When playing the Super Smash Bros story mode if you quit every 10 minutes or so after a few battles you will get a ‘new challenger’ encounter.

Win that battle to unlock that Super Smash Bros Ultimate character and then repeat that process to unlock more fighters.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate will also be getting more characters added post launch via DLC packs, with five new fighters coming next year.

The first of which was revealed at The Game Awards 2018, with the first Smash DLC fighter being Joker from Persona 5.
