Strictly Come Dancing 2019: First three contestants ‘revealed’ as GMB host makes blunder?

This year’s line-up for Strictly Come Dancing is going to kick-start tonight at the first three celebrities set to take to the BBC dance floor will be announced on The One Show.

On today’s edition of Good Morning Britain, guest Entertainment reporter Iain Lee, 46, dropped a huge hint about who these celebrities could be.

Former England football manager Sam Allardyce, 64, was one of those celebrities mentioned following alleged reports he was signing up and his chances of already winning the show are at 33/1 with bookmakers Betway.

Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, 30, is the bookies favourite with Betway spokesperson Alan Alger saying: “Of the three announced as part of Iain Lee’s on-air blunder, Jamie Laing could be one to watch and is currently our 8/1 favourite for the incoming series.”

After talking about the appointment of Nancy Xu, 28, after the news broke yesterday she will be a new professional dancer on the show, discussion turned to today’s big reveal on Good Morning Britain.

Iain stated rumoured celebrities Sam, Jamie and Anneka Rice, 60, would be the first three contestants revealed on The One Show later today.

Stunned by the news, stand-in host Ben Shephard, 44, exclaimed: “Hold on,” as Iain looked on with a jokingly worried face.

The former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star then issued an apology, saying directly to the camera: “Sorry One Show. Sorry Alex Jones.”

No official confirmation has been given these three celebrities will be revealed as the first amateur dancers to take the dance floor, but it didn’t stop the Good Morning Britain team discussing whether Sam, Anneka and Jamie would do well on the show.

It was reported last week Anneka could be one of the famous faces taking to the dance floor after the veteran TV presenter recently celebrated her 40-year career in the industry.

A source told The Sun: “Strictly believe they’ve made a top signing in Anneka. She’s a TV institution and a familiar face to viewers we’ll be rooting for her.

“Anneka is in great shape and can’t wait to strut her stuff,” the source continued.

Similarly, a TV insider also reportedly told the publication the BBC dance show was doing a “U-turn” by signing up Made In Chelsea star Jamie.

“It is a surprising U-turn from the BBC and Strictly,” the source said.

“They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed.”

Former England football manager Sam’s appearance on the show came after yet another source told Daily Mail: “They were talking to him about the Christmas special but emphasised that they want him on a whole series, rather than just a one-off.”

Viewers will have to wait and see if these three stars are revealed to be the first contestants for the line-up but the announcements come just over a week since the appointment of a new judge.

Most Mabuse, 38, will be replacing Dame Darcey Bussell, 50, on the panel and of the news, Oti Mabuse’s, 28, sister said: “I am absolutely overjoyed to be joining the Strictly judging panel.

“I have so much respect and admiration for the other three judges and hope to add my own bit of sparkle to the show.

“I can’t wait to get started!”

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year on BBC One. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
