Strictly Come Dancing 2018: Seann Walsh 'defiant and resilient' with Katya says expert

Seann Walsh, 32, and Katya Jones, 29, hit the headlines after being caught kissing in public, despite both being in relationships.

The Strictly couple apologised on Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two after Seann’s now-ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries wrote an open letter on Twitter.

Katya’s husband, Neil Jones, who is also a Strictly dancer although has no celebrity partner this year, has not yet spoken about the incident.

Seann and Katya have since taken to the floor on tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing to perform the Charleston as their first dance since their passionate embrace last week.

The Charleston is named after the city of Charleston in South Carolina and was a popular dance in the 1920s and 1930s as part of the Lindy Hop movement during the Swing era.

But what did their performance portray in regard to their current relationship together?

Author and body language specialist Judi James told Express.co.uk what their moves really showed.

She said: “From the moment he arrived at the top of the steps to adopt a matador-like pose of machismo and confidence, with his head up, back arched and one arm raised high in the air it was clear Seann had decided to swap his earlier look of contrite apology for something more defiant and resilient.

“It was Seann the comic most of the night, adopting cheesy stretched smiles when the cameras found him on the balcony or rising up and down like a lift behind the other dancers.

“While he seemed to be back to his day job though we saw Katya patting him quickly in a restraining gesture, suggesting she was keener to get him focused on getting a good set of points from the judges.

“Her husband did seem to appear quite predominately on the balcony but always a few paces away from Katya and Seann.

“Their dance was full of comedy along with a few brave lifts.

“Seann did look a bit lacking in focus a couple of times but the judges clearly approved.

“His thumbs up gesture suggested he thought he’d bounced back while Katya’s more suppressed smile suggested she might still see them making it to the finals.”

However, the dance led to the pair receiving favourable scores from the judges with their pizza-themed Charleston dance.

Last week, Judi explained how their body language during the Paso Doble was “clearly aiming to portray passion and chemistry”.

“The pair clearly have something special in terms of rapport,” she explained in regard to their friendship.

Strictly Come Dancing 2018 continues tonight on BBC One at 7.45pm.
