Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Giovanni Pernice silenced amid ‘cheeky’ Debbie McGee remark

The awkward moment happened after the Strictly Come Dancing host, 27, asked the professional dancer and his celebrity partner Debbie McGee about their Blackpool dance.

Claudia said to Debbie, 59, during the segment: “Debbie, you are dancing to a Spice Girls medley.” The former magician’s assistant replied: “Yes, a Samba.”

She then turned to the Italian dancer and asked: “Giovanni, which Spice Girl is Debbie.”

Giovanni didn’t hesitate, saying: “Definitely, cheeky spice.” Clearly, Claudia didn’t get the answer she was looking for as she said: “Okay… there wasn’t actually a cheeky spice.”

He tried to explain his answer, insisting: “A cheeky Spice Girl! A cheeky Spice Girl.”

But Claudia wasn’t convinced as she told him: “Okay, a cheeky Spice Girl – stop talking. I love you.”

“I love you more,” he flatly replied to her rebuttal as Claudia turned her attention to Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez.

This evening saw Ruth Langsford and Anton Du Beke become the seventh couple to be eliminated from the competition after their Foxtrot failed to hit the right note with the judges.

Speaking after she was sent packing, the 57-year-old This Morning presenter said: “I’m disappointed for Anton [Du Beke] because he should be going to Blackpool. He’s made this whole thing so much fun, I’ve absolutely loved it, even the judges’ comments, even Craig’s – he knows I love him really!

“All those wonderful people up there, they all deserve to be going to Blackpool. And you Anton Du Beke, are just the most fabulous man, so funny and you are a beautiful dancer and I hope we will be friends for a very long time.”

However, before leaving the show, Ruth and Anton, 52, recreated their famous move which saw the ITV presenter straddle the dancer.

WHEN IS BLACKPOOL WEEK ON STRICTLY COME DANCING 2017?

The hilarious moment left judge Darcey Bussell in shock as she could be seen shielding her eyes from it all.

Next weekend is the highly-anticipated Blackpool Week in which the remaining eight couples will be travelling to the home of Ballroom Dancing for a special show.

Broadcasting live from the Blackpool Tower Room, the couples will be hoping to impress the panel and make it through to the next round.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One next Saturday at 6.45pm.
