Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Davood Ghadami reveals 'spooky' reason elimination was sealed

The EastEnders star ended up in the bottom two after his Argentine Tango to The Phantom of the Opera failed to impress the judges.

He gained 29 points for his efforts – something that immediately worried his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.

Davood explained: “She said, ‘Oh we got 29… Last time we got 29 we were in the dance off…’

“Isn’t that spooky? That’s my new unlucky number,” he joked.

The last time he was in the bottom two, he scored the exact same score, something that presenter Zoe Ball considered “spooky”.

Davood made an emotional departure on Sunday’s show after he lost out to Alexandra Burke in the dance off.

Speaking of his time on Strictly Come Dancing, the actor confessed: “There have been so many highlights I’ve had, honestly the best time. I never thought I’d get this far which is why I’m smiling as I never thought I’d reach this point.

“I never thought I’d get to see and meet such amazing people. We’re all mates, every comment I’ve ever received good and bad, and to dance in front of audiences like this has been a real gift.

“It’s all because of one person and I also need to thank so many people: My beautiful family, my wife – who’s been running Team Ghadami whilst we’ve been doing this – but this is Nadiya’s first year on this show and I think she’s done incredibly well.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One next Saturday at 6.45pm.
