The judge appeared on today’s episode of Lorraine and gave his side on the controversial debate that hit headlines yesterday.
Craig, 52, told the host: “I think same sex couples can exist and you only have to decide who’s going to go backwards, that’s the only difference!”
This comes after the BBC made their position clear on the debate, issuing the following statement: “Strictly has chosen the traditional format of mixed-sex couples and at the moment we have no plans to introduce same-sex couples in the competition.”
However, Craig believes this will change soon, saying he thinks it will happen as soon as next year.
“In the world of competition there are same-sex couples,” he explained. “The Beeb have to decide whether they want to do that.”
The dancer also revealed that the origins of one of the most-loved dances is actually same-sex.
“The tango was originally between two men anyway… It’s explosive,” Craig admitted
He also paid tribute to Sir Bruce Forsyth, who passed away last month, saying: “His legacy will live on and on.
“Bruce would have adored [Saturday’s tribute], because he is a stalwart and an amazing person.”
