Star Wars Episode 9: Should Colin Trevorrow be REPLACED after Book Of Henry flop? (POLL)

The film-maker’s latest effort The Book Of Henry has unfortunately not panned out as intended; receiving almost unanimously terrible reviews.

Its failure has led to fears for Star Wars: Episode IX, which he is due to start shooting next January.

He does have form with large-scale movies: 2015’s Jurassic World took over $ 1.6 billion at the box office and has a reasonable 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

His previous feature, Safety Not Guaranteed, has an excellent 90% on the review aggregator website.

But still – does The Book of Henry mean now is not the time for him to direct Star Wars? Should he be replaced? Vote below.

Trevorrow has not spoken about The Book of Henry’s reviews in direct relation to the Lucasfilm saga, but he has acknowledged that the critics have not been fans.

“I know audiences have responded extremely positively to the movie,” he told the Press Association.

“I wish that same experience could be had by everyone and I’m not going to even speculate as to why.

“I know the movie can be polarising because it does ask to not only face some things we don’t necessarily want to see in movies all the time, but it takes us on a journey that doesn’t really have a precedent.

“It’s not like any movie I’ve ever seen and so, for better or for worse, that’s why I felt like I had to do it.

“I don’t know whether that’s some self-destructive thing in me, it’s just how I was raised, you know, face your fear.”

Replacing him now would be an even bigger deal than it would be under normal circumstances, as Lucasfilm have taken the untitled Han Solo spin-off from Phil Lord and Chris Miller and given it to Ron Howard.

Star Wars Episode IX is due in May 2019.
