Star Wars 8 Last Jedi: Who are Rey’s parents?

Currently we are completely unaware of the scavenger’s bloodline, although there have been multiple (viable) theories.

In Episode 8: The Last Jedi, we could well get a step closer to discovering just who she is.

So is she a daughter of Luke Skywalker, as many seem to believe? Or are her roots much darker?

Flick through the biggest theories in the gallery below.

Aside from the Skywalker theory, one popular one put forward by a fan is that she is a descendant of Ezra Bridger.

That would tie the saga into the Star Wars Rebels series, and it remains to be seen whether that’s something Lucasfilm would be keen on doing.

It would be a satisfying pay-off for fans of the wider universe, but would casual moviegoers be a little all-at-sea?

Elsewhere, some believe she could be a descendant – possibly a granddaughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who died at the end of Episode IV.

Others even think she could be Snoke’s daughter, or a descendant of Emperor Palpatine.

What do YOU think? Vote in the poll below.

Maybe, though, her parents are utter unknowns, and the story will manage to survive without relying on a shock Empire Strikes Back-style twist.

Who do you think her parents are? Use the poll above to have your say.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is out on December 15.
