IT’S ON again.

OK, so it’s important to note, as pointed out by Aussie NBA star Andrew Bogut, this is not a matter of life and death.

This is just a case of two Australian Olympic stars and teammates sharing some unpleasant words on Twitter almost a year after an initial public slanging match between them created international headlines at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

But, in that context, the latest hostilities between Bogut and Opals star Liz Cambage are deliciously prickly.

The simmering animosity between the pair exploded on Wednesday night when Cambage took a pot-shot at Bogut on Twitter — and it opened the flood gates.

The pair famously traded tweets and verbal barbs throughout the Rio Games before an uneasy truce was declared — publicly at least — when they were spotted in an awkward hug inside the Rio Athletes Village.

Since that day in August, the pair have kept the truce, but it all fell apart on Wednesday — and it was pure entertainment for their thousands of followers on social media.

It all stems from a simple tweet Bogut posted, declaring he simply doesn’t enjoy reading the gossip columns of newspapers.

Harmless. Innocent. Personal.

It ended up being the spark that revived Australian sport’s most entertaining Twitter exchange.

For whatever reason it was a red rag to a bull in Cambage’s eyes and she couldn’t help but share her thoughts about her tweeting offsider, declaring Bogut is “so foul”.

From there it was World War 3 (remember the context).

Bogut sent a needle her way about her frequent appearances on the Melbourne social scene and then Cambage responded with a volley about the former Cavaliers’ star’s injury-prone frame.

Then it seemed like it was over. Wrong. Again.

On Thursday, Australian basketball’s odd-couple went at it again.

The slanging match then pivoted towards a claim from The Herald Sun’s Rita Panahi, who pointed out the latest beef can be traced back to Cambage’s “foul” comment.

God bless the internt.

The interesting exchange attracted comments from several NBL and NBA stars, including San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills, who, like most of us, was eating it up.

What a ride.

For those of you that remember, or still care about our friends Liz and Andrew, the beef actually began when Bogut sent out a tweet questioning those protesting against police brutality in Melbourne last year.

Cambage appeared to take offence and set out to “educate” the Boomers centre.

When asked about it after Bogut’s claim they had hugged it out in Rio, she was quick to point out it was far from over.

“I feel like I still need to educate Andrew, I mean, sorry Bogut, on police brutality and racial profiling from police officers in Australia,” she said.

“So if we get some time and I catch him in dining hall, he’s probably going to hate me because he is going to get an education.

“At the end of the day we’re teammates and people read a lot into what happens on Twitter but it’s really not the real world.”

No, it sure isn’t.
