Saturday Night Takeaway: Ant McPartlin forced to interrupt tense Declan Donnelly SPAT

Fans of Ant and Dec will remember that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! saw the introduction of a hilarious joke at footballer Dennis’ expense.

Declan Donnelly in particular found it funny to call the former Chelsea star out on his height, but it hilariously backfired as it transpired that Dennis is taller than the host.

As Saturday Night Takeaway returned earlier this evening, it seemed that the former footballer wanted to address the gag, finally.

Ant and Dec walked backstage and bumped into the jungle campmate, as a shifty-looking Dec explained: “It’s been a while, I haven’t seen you since Australia…

“You haven’t watched them back, have you?” he nervously asked.

Dennis, joking that he was really angry, replied: “Yes I have.”

Dec seemed more worried at this point, and demanded to know if he was going to get “beaten up”.

Dennis assured, before landing the killer punch-line: “I won’t beat you up, because you’re a very small man.”

Clearly trying to save face, Dec turned attention to popstar Kylie who was stood nearby, insisting that she would be offended as she is even smaller than the host.

It quickly turned into a hilarious spat, as Kylie fought back at the host, who equally gave as good as she got.

The I Should Be So Lucky hitmaker branded Dec a “little fella” and it didn’t go down well.

Ant pulled the duo apart, but Dec wasn’t finished with the gag.

He stormed off, shouting: “What are you talking about? What’s she saying? Little fella?

“You can all wipe the smiles off your face as well,” Dec yelled at the production team who were trying to stifle their laughter.

The joke went down well with viewers who were overjoyed to see the Dennis gag continued.

One posted: “OMG Dennis Wise. This is hilarious.”

A second added: “I lost it when Dennis Wise arrived.”

A third laughed: “Omg they have Dennis Wise, that’s brilliant.”

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway continues next Saturday on ITV at 7pm.
