Sarah Ferguson, 58, and Prince Andrew, 58, had their wedding at Westminster in the mid 1980s.
However, the couple, parents to Princess Eugenie, 27, and Princess Beatrice, 29, sadly split. Their divorce was made official in 1996, although they were separated for sometime before that.
In 2011 Sarah, often referred to as ‘Fergie’, sat down with Piers Morgan on CNN to discuss her ex-husband, as well as various other topics including Kate Middleton.
Body language expert Judi James gave her expert opinion on how Fergie was feeling at this time, when Kate Middleton was preparing to marry her fairytale prince, William.
There was quite a change in Sarah Ferguson since her wedding day, Judi claimed.
She said: “The girl we first saw bounding down the steps for her engagement interview like an eager puppy and then making Prince Andrew roar with laughter with one of her trademark open-mouthed, wide-eyed comical grins had evolved into someone looking wiser but also much sadder as she repeated her line about loving ‘my man’ four times in a very brief chat.”
As Fergie described her wedding day she seemed to be missing her previous enthusiasm, Judi said.
The expert claimed: “Her choice of words was still dramatic, calling the view of the crowds ‘mesmeric’ and ‘wonderful’ and even describing herself as ‘passionate and feisty’ but her delivery was incongruent, with the old enthusiasm, energy and bounce missing.
“Sitting forward in her chair with both arms on the table and her hands clasped in a quasi ‘pray’ position suggesting a desire to convince her interviewer, Sarah spoke to Piers in a low-key voice using a bland and masked-looking facial expression for most of her answers.
“When she told Piers that ‘My man was the most important thing to me’ she ended the statement by sucking in her lips in an expression of what looked like pained regret.”
Judi claimed that Fergie gave off mixed signals in the interview, making her true feelings hard to detect.
She added: “Sarah claimed she would not have wanted to ‘marry an ordinary guy’, but with both hands on the table beginning to ball into fist-shapes and with her fingers fiddling anxiously in a self-comfort gesture it was hard to tell if she had genuine regrets and was bluffing it out or not.”
Will Sarah Ferguson still be a Duchess if she remarries?
Fergie was called Miss Sarah Margaret Ferguson before her marriage to the Prince, after which she was bestowed a royal title.
Sarah Ferguson’s wedding day was a big day in the royal calendar that year.
There was one way Sarah threw royal rules out of the window at the wedding, and it’s all to do with her bouquet.
