Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes ‘furious and upset’ as they’re CUT from This Morning

ITV viewers tune in to see Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes present Friday’s edition of This Morning every week in place of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. However, during the summer, the pair took some time away and a number of other presenters filled in during this time. One hosting duo which went down well with viewers was Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond and it now seems the pair could be seen in place of Ruth and Eamonn after it has been reported the husband-and-wife duo have been dropped.

The pair have been presenting together on the ITV daytime show for 14 years and are a much-loved part of the This Morning family.

However, after news emerged they are set to have to bow out, it’s been reported Ruth and Eamonn are “furious” about the decision.

“They have real warmth, it’s time for a change and they are perfect.

“Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well-liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made,” an insider told The Mirror.

ITV boss Kevin Lygo told the Edinburgh TV Festival earlier this year the show would not be back in 2021 as originally believed.

“It’s not definitely returning – it might return, and if it does the format will tweak,” Lygo said (via The Sun).

As the programme’s comeback remains uncertain, this would only give Dermot more time to take on the This Morning presenting role.

Fans were quick to share their thoughts on the news, with mixed reactions on the presenting shake-ups.

One shared on Twitter: “Congratulations @AlisonHammond, this was a long time coming!! #ThisMorning.”

“Hope it’s not true. I love @AlisonHammond and I like Alison presenting but I love @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL too on a Friday #ThisMorning,” said another.

A third commented: “That’s weird tbh. I know they didn’t please everyone but I did like Ruth and Eamonn on it. Ruth still has Loose Women luckily.”

A fourth fan wrote: “Alison has absolutely grafted like no one else, and has won the nation’s heart. She deserves every success.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
