Royal baby: Odds favour THIS name after Kate Middleton’s bump pictures suggest it's a BOY

The royal baby of Kate Middleton, 36, and Prince William, 35, is expected to be born in late April, but what will the name be?

It is said betting odds have shifted in favour of a certain boys’ name, which is currently the most favoured male baby name.

That name is Philip – the same name as the future baby’s great grandfather, Prince Philip.

The odds have been slashed from 25/1 for the name Philip to the current odds of 16/1.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said the name choice would have a “lovely” significance.

“With Her Majesty being honoured with one of Charlotte’s middle names, it would be a lovely touch if Philip was to be Kate and Wills’ choice for their second son.”

Jessica is referring to Kate Middleton’s daughter Princess Charlotte’s middle name, which is Elizabeth, after Queen Elizabeth.

She also has the middle name Diana, after Prince William’s late mother.

While the baby’s gender has not been announced, it has recently been suggested Kate might be having a boy, based on the shape of her bump.

“Boy” bumps stick out in front of a woman like a netball, according to MailOnline. This is apparently because boys are on average larger when born, meaning the bump is more pronounced.

However, the most popular royal baby names are still girls’ names, with Alice and Mary in joint top place with odds of 5/1.

Victoria is another popular contender, with betting odds of 8/1.

When is the royal baby due? According to bookies the child could arrive on Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding anniversary.

However, the Queen’s birthday is also a contender, according to Ladbrokes.

The Queen’s birthday is actually on the 21 of April, and so if the baby’s birthday clashes the palace might see a joint cross-generational celebration.

The Queen celebrates her real birthday quietly at home. Her Official Birthday is celebrated on the second Saturday in June.

This is so that Britons can enjoy good weather on the day, and is an old tradition going back hundreds of years.

The baby could arrive on Her Majesty’s birthday according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes.

As The Duchess of Cambridge enters the final few weeks of her third pregnancy, the bookies have opened up betting on when the latest addition will enter the world, and 21 April – The Queen’s birthday – is the early favourite at 10/1.
