Rory McIlroy signs colossal $100m 10-year deal with TaylorMade

McIlroy, and sporting a gleaming gold ring on his finger, has not competed since sharing seventh place behind Sergio Garcia at the Masters.

However, McIlroy left Augusta very disappointed with the golf ball he had been using and has corrected that signing a 10-year full 14-club deal that also includes specifically using a TaylorMade ball and bag.

This deal comes after McIlroy resigned what was believed a $ US 200m new deal with Nike clothing just prior to the Masters.

McIlroy’s long-time manager, Sean O’Flaherty said the TaylorMade deal was “Mongo” and it is bigger than any other TaylorMade deal including World No. this week’s Players Championship at Ponte Vedre in Florida.

“I left Augusta very unhappy having tried many combinations this year that just were not working and it was the ball that led me to this point of signing on with TaylorMade”, said McIlroy.

“I got back from our honeymoon on Thursday and I have been testing the new clubs since then at the Bears Club.

“I am using the M2 driver I used at the Masters and the same fairway woods while they very kindly made me a prototype set of blades that I’ve put in the bag which are beautiful.

“So, it seems like with everything that has gone on the last few weeks with getting married and teaming with TaylorMade and everything, it seems like everything is very settled.

“There is not that many question marks going on in my life now and I feel everything’s exactly where it is meant to be, and if you feel like that off the golf course, then I can only imagine that it will help going forward”.

And while life is very rosy for McIlroy he provided evidence that all is well between Garcia and Padraig Harrington as McIlroy revealed an image on his mobile he had taken at his own wedding of Garcia tucking his head into below Harrington’s neck and further evidence, if you needed it, the duo has made up.

“Now this is not for anyone to take a photo but this should answer any issues that Padraig and Sergio may have”, said McIlroy smiling.

“I said to Sergio can I tweet that and he said maybe not, so that is how close they got.

“I had seen them chatting and I jokingly said to Padraig he is a sore loser and they both started to laugh, so it is all good between them.

“Things get blown out of proportion some time but then they have played so many Ryder Cup’s together and while they have had their battles over the years they just seemed to get on so well at the wedding.”

The PGA Tour was also celebrating but not McIlroy’s wedding but the announcement that FedEx have agreed to extend their involvement in the FedEx Cup Series a further 1o years.

And McIlroy, as the reigning FedEx Cup champion was presented with his own bobble head with the FedEx Cup trophy.
