Relax, ‘Mindhunter’ Has Been Renewed for a Second Season at Netflix

We’re still recovering from Cameron Britton’s portrayal of Lurch-sized serial killer Edmund Kemper in the David Fincher and Charlize Theron-produced Mindhunter TV series that debuted on Netflix in October. The show has just been renewed for a second season, so expect to see Dr. Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) dishing up some hot-shit power suit looks soon while dealing with FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), and all their dudeness.

The streaming service announced the news on their Twitter page yesterday (and reported by Variety), but have since removed the tweet. In an interview with Billboard, Fincher revealed that the second season will focus on the Atlanta Child Murders that saw 28 African-Americans killed over a two-year period, between 1979 and 1981. Wayne Williams was convicted for some of those crimes and is currently serving a life sentence in Georgia.

For those living under a rock, Mindhunter, set in the 1970s, explores the beginnings of the FBI’s criminal profiling methods. Two agents, played by Groff and McCallany, interview serial killers to tap into their special brand of fuck-up-ed-ness and what makes them tick.
