The Spaniard extended his stunning run at the competition as he eased past Greek starlet Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets.
Nadal has now won 11 times at the Barcelona Open and is currently enjoying a run of 46 set wins without reply on his favourite clay surface.
The 31-year-old is currently sitting top of the ATP world rankings and playing some of the best tennis of his career.
And former tennis star Mark Petchey has posted an emotional tribute to Nadal after his recent win.
“We always wait till the end of something to say what we should have before the end so I am going to say it now,” the Brit wrote on Twitter.
“Thank you Rafael Nadal for everything you have done and continue to do for tennis.
“As fans we are very fortunate to have lived and watched greatness in real life.”
Speaking after his win yesterday, Nadal said: “I’m very happy for the victory against a very difficult opponent.
“It’s very difficult to describe how to win 11 titles at one tournament.
“To win 11 Monte-Carlos and 11 Barcelonas is something I couldn’t imagine doing.”
Nadal will now turn his attention to the Madrid Open, where he will look to maintain his ATP top spot.
Meanwhile, long-time rival Roger Federer is still on the sidelines at present, enjoying a well-earned break before the summer events get underway.
The Swiss star is planning to return at the Halle Open in June.
