Property news: Top UK property hotspots revealed – is YOUR town on the list?

Taking the top spot is Belper, Derbyshire, where house prices have risen a whopping 7.43 per cent since the beginning of the year.

Belper is a historic market town which won High Street of the Year in 2014.

Coming in at second place is the coastal town of Hove, East Sussex, where house prices have jumped 7.07 per cent this year.

Hove benefits from a close proximity to popular Brighton and easy links to London.

Todmorden, West Yorkshire, took third place, with a house price rise of 6.66 per cent.

This comes in contrast to the rest of the UK, where house prices have risen by a measly 1.1 per cent since January 2017, according to Hoopla.

The average price of a home in Britain is currently £304,469 – an increase of £3,039 since the beginning of the year.

This compares to a rise of £13,851 during the same period last year.

However, prices have fallen in some places, with Richmond, North Yorkshire suffering the biggest decline of 5.34 per cent since January 2017.

House prices in London have stagnated, Zoopla’s research shows, with house prices increasing by just 0.5 per cent to £673,344.

During the same six month period last year, values rose on average 3.5 per cent in London.

Regionally, the best performer in Britain is the West Midlands, where house prices have increased by 2.6 per cent since the beginning of the year.

Zoopla’s Lawrence Hall said: “While the rate of growth has slowed to a more modest rate, we’re not seeing the stark downturn in values that has been predicted.

“While this slowdown might not be what homeowners want to hear, a slowdown does present a possible opportunity for those looking to get on the ladder by the end of the year.”

Zoopla revealed the most popular locations searched on its site were London, Edinburgh and Bristol.

The Zoopla data comes after it was revealed the biggest turn-offs for buyers interested in your home.
