Princess Eugenie wedding: Why her nuptials won’t be like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's

Princess Eugenie, 28, will marry Jack Brooksbank, 31, on October 12, and it is easy to draw parallels with the royal wedding of Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, which took place earlier this year.

The couples will share a wedding venue of St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and the nuptials take place in the same year.

The weddings will be attended by a high profile guestlist including major members of the royal family.

What’s more, both are weddings of a royal – Eugenie and Harry – to a commoner – Jack and Meghan.

However, there is a crucial difference in that Princess Eugenie – unlike Harry and now Meghan – is not a “working royal”.

This will have a crucial effect on her obligations on her wedding day.

“Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice aren’t working royals, and that’s unlikely to change,” James Brookes, Director of Broadcasting and Communications at Royal Central told Express.co.uk.

A working royal is classified as a member of the royal family who “carries out engagements on behalf of the Queen”.

Prince Andrew, 58, has in the past described his daughters Eugenie and Beatrice as “modern working young women, who happen to be members of the Royal Family”.

While Eugenie is a high profile royal who frequently attends royal celebrations, she is under no obligation to do so.

Because she has no official duty to the public, she is not expected to take a carriage ride through Windsor, as Meghan and Harry did.

However, she may do so with her future husband if she wishes.

What’s more, it is likely there will be less security at her wedding compared to Meghan and Harry’s.

This is because there is not as much interest in Princess Eugenie’s wedding, as she has a lower profile compared to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Finally, Eugenie did not have to seek official permission from the Queen to become engaged to now fiancé Jack Brooksbank.

Does Princess Eugenie have a job? It turns out the royal, who has a net worth of £3.6 million, works full-time in London.

She holds a director position at Hauser & Wirth, a contemporary art gallery in Mayfair, London.

Princess Eugenie began working at the gallery during the summer of 2015 as an associate director.

She reportedly received a promotion to the position of director at the company in 2017.

“Eugenie is working hard and doing a good job, the promotion is well deserved,” a source told the Daily Mail.
