Poldark star Aidan Turner drops massive BOMBSHELL that will leave fans devastated

The 34-year-old actor, who portrays the title hero Ross Poldark, hinted that the series could be coming to an end sooner than fans were expecting.

In a recent interview, the Irish actor said: “We run out of things to do after series five, I think that would be our last.”

He went on to tell fashion magazine WWD: “Four was green-lit, five hasn’t been yet. It wouldn’t be fair of me to green-light it, but it’s looking like it may happen.”

An insider told The Sun: “Eleanor Tomlinson and Aidan have been optioned for five series so that would be the natural end.”

The BBC period drama is adapted from Graham Winston’s novels of the same name and there are a total of 12 books.

Script writer Debbie Horsfield has taken elements from the first five books for seasons one to three.

Aidan’s interview comes as season three of Poldark is set to come to an explosive end this Sunday as war comes to Cornwall.

The finale is set to see the truth about Elizabeth Warleggan’s (played by Heida Reed) son come out after much speculation over the paternity of the baby Valentine.

Meanwhile, Ross’ wife Demezla (Eleanor Tomlinson) could be embarking on an affair following the advances of Hugh Armitage (Josh Whitehouse).

Tragedy could also be on the cards for Morwenna Chynoweth (Ellise Chappell) after she continues to pine for Drake Carne (Harry Richardson) while being married to vile vicar Reverend Osborne Whitworth (Christian Brassington).

There were hints in a preview video that Drake could get killed off for his love for Morwenna.

Poldark season 3 concludes on BBC One this Sunday at 9pm.
