The new Pokemon Go Mew Quest is now live and includes completing the Mythical Discovery chain of Research.
This is part of the Special Research Quests, which can only be got from Professor Willow contacting you directly.
Pokemon Trainers receive a reward for each Special Research task they complete, and after they complete a series of Special Research tasks, Trainers unlock even greater even better rewards.
This includes the Mythical Discover Quest line, which is needed to book your encounter with Mew.
The Quest has 8 stages, each with a list of tasks that need to be completed.
You’ll receive a notification on the bottom-right corner of the screen when you collect or make progress on your tasks.
Trainer can also check the In Map View and tap on the Research icon to view their current tasks.
Completing each task provides a special bonus, with a lot of Trainers currently looking at the “Make 10 Great Throws” task.
This gives you 1000 XP, and is just another step on the road to Mew.
However, it should be noted that this is followed again later in stage 5, where Trainers have to then earn 20 great throws.
There are also other Field Research tasks that require you pulling off a certain throw, so sometimes you can double up on this.
When you complete Stage 7, Pokemon Go players will be rewarded with a Mythical Encounter with Mew.
Capturing Mew is part of Stage 8, and will give you a hefty 4000 XP reward, along with a lot of Star Dust.
Willow will say this when you’re nearing the completion of the Mythical Discovery questline: “We found Mew! Awesome!
“This is an experience to remember forever. Now you can see why I love studying Pokémon so much! The whole world is out there to discover.
“So go have some fun! My assistants and I will request some Special Research from you in the future. Stay in touch!”
While Trainers cannot repeat Special Research tasks, Professor Willow will periodically seek assistance with new tasks.
And for those looking to just complete the Field Research found at PokeStops, here’s more from Niantic on the subject, who write:
“To collect Field Research tasks, spin the Photo Disc at nearby PokéStops. You can collect one Field Research task per PokéStop per day.
“You’ll receive a notification on the bottom-right corner of the screen when you collect or make progress on your tasks. In Map View, tap on the Research icon to view your current tasks.
“You can collect and make progress on up to 3 Field Research tasks at a time. After you complete a task and claim its reward, you free up space to collect another task.
“If you find a task too difficult, you have the option to discard it. Tap the trash icon in the corner of the task.
“As you complete more tasks, you earn Stamps which unlock Research Breakthroughs. You can earn up to one Stamp per day for each Field Research task you complete.
“After you earn 7 Stamps, you will achieve a Research Breakthrough and receive additional rewards. Note that you do not receive Stamps for Special Research.”
