New PlayStation VR experiences coming to PS4
The PS4 has one feature that isn’t available on the Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.
That would be PlayStation VR, a headset that allows gamers to enjoy games and experience in a Virtual Reality environment.
It isn’t the most powerful VR headset on the market, however, it does receive a lot of new and exciting games on a regular basis.
Many of these new games and demos are helping the PSVR stand out from among its rivals, something that could help with the arrival of the PS5.
And there are plenty of new PS4 games and demos being announced and released in 2019 to get excited about.
New experiences are being worked on by a range of different developers, with a new port announced for February.
One of these will be The Mage’s Tale, a Steam title that is being released on PlayStation VR early next month.
The Mage’s Tale is a dungeon crawler set in the world of The Bard’s Tale which allows players to Wield elemental magic to eliminate their foes.
“The corrupt wizard Gaufroi has kidnapped your master, Mage Alguin, and only you have any hope of saving him,” the official description reads.
“You may be an apprentice now, but to save your master, you will need to explore ten deadly dungeons, decipher mind-bending puzzles, avoid terrifying traps, and vanquish hordes of vicious monsters.
“Until you are able to wield every elemental power in the palm of your hand, evil remains ascendant!
“It is your turn now to sling gouts of flame, javelins of ice, arcs of lightning, and swirling tempests! Don your wizard’s robe and begin your Mage’s Tale.”
For those interested in playing a new PS4 games exclusive, a free demo will be hitting the PlayStation Store in January which will hopefully offer some amazing new gameplay.
And while it won’t be the full release, a new demo for the upcoming title Eden Tomorrow is set to be launched later this month.
That’s according to the SoulPix website, which provides only the shortest description of what is being planned for January.
No solid release details have been shared on when this new demo will be going live and what kind of content it will offer.
Eden Tomorrow blew fans away when a trailer was shown during E3 but has yet to be given a solid launch date.
The VR project is being developed exclusively for PlayStation VR and is described as a narrative-driven, sci-fi action-adventure set on a strange and frightening alien world.
“Explore your otherworldly surroundings in search of answers, contending with hostile environments and dangerous local wildlife as you unpick the cryptic riddles as to how you ended up there.
“Experienced through the eyes of a lost wanderer, you’ll come face-to-face with giant worms, be pursued by vicious flying creatures and find yourself jostled among a herd of stampeding Sand Walkers as you work to uncover the planet’s secrets.”
Sony PlayStation will likely share more news on the release of the exciting new demo later this month.
PlayStation VR fans don’t have it all their own way though, with another free demo being released this month on PC.
Fans of the original Silent Hills PT demo have been hankering for more gameplay since it was officially delisted back in 2015.
New projects have sprung up that looked to emulate the experience, and now a fresh one is available to download on PC.
And did we mention it’s available to play in VR?
Unreal PT is a remake of the original experience that can be download for Windows 10 and supports a variety of motion controls.
PlayStation VR news this week also includes a new add-on that hopes to add smells to your virtual reality experience.
An odour-delivering virtual reality mask has been in the works for some time and appears to be getting closer to launch.
Tech company Feelreal has now entered the pre-release stage for their new device, which offers the chance of adding scents and smells to your VR adventure.
According to the website, the new scent generator boasts a replaceable cartridge, containing 9 individual aroma capsules.
Players can choose and combine any of the 255 scents available in the store and can install and change them depending on the type of VR experience they’re experiencing.
