PlayStation Store UPDATE: PS4 games release news as Ace Combat 7 flies in

The PlayStation Store is getting some big updates this week, courtesy of some top third-party content.

Much of Sony’s PS4 success has been powered by exclusive games but that doesn’t mean the third-party stuff isn’t just as exciting.

January will see the release of several top games, as well as the start of pre-orders for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.

Releasing on January 18 for PlayStation fans, the new combat flight simulator is now available to pre-purchase digitally.

Ace Combat 7 will include much of the same content on each platform it’s releasing on in 2018, with one big exception

PlayStation VR fans will also have access to a Virtual Reality mode, which Bandai Namco says is exclusive to the PS4 platform at launch.

Pre-purchasing Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown from PlayStation Store will include the following incentives:

  • Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown dynamic Theme (delivered instantly)
  • A McDonnell Douglas F-4E plane and three aircraft skins (delivered at launch)
  • Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (full game, delivered at launch)

Fans can also purchase a deluxe edition that includes the base game and season pass, as well as acquire the digital-only incentive Lockheed F-104 Starfighter plane.

Friday, January 11, will also see a number of high profile PlayStation Store releases for PS4.

This includes Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, Hitman HD Enhanced Collection, the God Eater 3 demo and the Resident Evil 2 1-shot demo.

God Eater 3 is coming in early February, while the demo will be available to play in the coming days.

The demo version is expected to be around 7GB to download and will be free to everyone who has access to the PlayStation Store.

Fans will be able to take on the role of a God Eater, collect God Arc weapons and explore new areas as you hunt down the vicious monsters known as Aragamis.

The Hitman HD Enhanced Collection includes Absolution and Blood Money, and comes with notable upgrades over the originals.

Both games can be played in 4K resolution and 60 fps, as well as improved lighting and Super-sampling.

The big releases of January include Kingdom Hearts 3 and Resident Evil 2.

And ahead of the big release date, Capcom has revealed that fans will be able to try out a Resident Evil 2 Remake demo this week.

This Friday a ‘one shot’ demo for the Resident Evil 2 Remake will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

Fans will get 30 minutes to try out the Resident Evil 2 Remake, and then that’s it – you won’t be able to play the game again until it’s full release.

So you’ll have to make your ‘one shot’ playthrough of the Resident Evil 2 Remake demo count.

Capcom went on to say: “With the living dead shuffling about and even the supposedly safe Raccoon City Police Department, or R.P.D., being overrun by terrifying monsters, nowhere feels safe anymore.

“As rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy, you’ll be setting foot into a reimagined R.P.D. station not only to seek shelter and figure out why none of your co-workers is calling you back but also to find a way out of the nightmare that’s unfolding in front of you.”
