Pippa Middleton wedding ring: Bride chooses band VERY similar to sister Kate Middleton

Pippa, 33, chose a simple plain gold wedding band just as her sister Kate, 35, did in 2011.

Kate’s wedding ring is made of Welsh gold, and was given to Prince William by Queen Elizabeth to present to his bride on her wedding day.

This follows a royal tradition started in 1923, and the Queen herself also wears a plain band made from Welsh gold.

It is thought Pippa copied her sister so as not to detract attention from her stunning engagement ring.

James Matthews proposed to Pippa with an Asscher cut engagement ring rumoured to have cost £200,000.

The 3.5 carat ring features be large diamond surrounded by a halo or smaller stones for extra sparkle.

The plain gold wedding band leaves the opportunity open for Pippa to also wear a diamond eternity ring in the future.

Kate also wears an opulent engagement ring alongside her plain gold band.

Prince William got down on one knee with the sapphire Garrard ring his mother, the late Princess Diana, chose on her engagement to Prince Charles.

The sapphire and diamond creation was not custom made but in fact chosen from Garrard’s designs at the time

The 12 carat Ceylon sapphire stone is surrounded by a halo of 14 solitaire diamonds.

The ring is set in 18K white gold, and had to be resized to fit Kate’s slim finger.
