Piers Morgan makes unexpected SWIPE at Good Morning Britain co-star: 'So insensitive'

While the team discussed the ongoing Christmas build-up, it seemed that the outspoken presenter didn’t share the others’ enthusiasm.

As Charlotte Hawkins, 42, gushed about her excitement for the big day, Piers argued that he didn’t want to hear about it until December 1.

The 52-year-old asked the newsreader: “What’s your daughter getting you for Christmas? Maybe a fourth round place in Strictly?”

Charlotte was stunned by the unexpected swipe as Susanna Reid, 46, could be heard calling the comment “so offensive” off camera.

Despite her best efforts, Charlotte and professional partner Brendan Cole were eliminated in week four of Strictly Come Dancing

In light of the jibe, his colleagues set about hounding Piers for his lack of participation in talent shows, after only starring in Celebrity Apprentice back in 2007.

He admitted that he only chooses to take part in competitions he knows he can win, before stunning the Good Morning Britain team with a confession of several offers.

Piers revealed: “I’ve been offered lots of money to eat bugs, but no thanks – why would I do that?

“I say, ‘Please add a couple of noughts?’ Which they do, but no.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
