Piers Morgan has had a break from his presenting duties on Good Morning Britain as he enjoys the summer but that hasn’t stopped him from speaking out on appearances from politicians.
Today, Sir Keir Starmer appeared on the breakfast show to discuss how he believes MPs should “pull together” to fight a No Deal Brexit.
Starmer also praised Jeremy Corbyn for bringing people together in an attempt to find a consensus.
But Morgan wasn’t impressed with Starmer and told him to “grow a pair” to return to the show when he’s back from his holiday.
The outspoken presenter also challenged Corbyn and Diane Abbot to interview with him on Good Morning Britain when he returns.
In a clip shared on Good Morning Britain’s Twitter, Starmer said: “I think it is looking quite good. I mean the question is whether there is a majority to stop this reckless No Deal approach that Johnson has set upon.
“Obviously that means bringing opposition parties together, that’s what we’re doing this morning.
“There’s been a lot of discussion over the summer about how this would work.
“So I think Jeremy Corbyn convening this, bringing people together, is the right thing to do.”
Morgan took to his own Twitter page to share the tweet and slammer Starmer’s remarks.
He wrote: “Amusing to see Labour’s senior politicians sneaking onto @GMB while I’m away, after hiding for the past year.
“Now grow a pair @Keir_Starmer (and you @jeremycorbyn @johnmcdonnellMP @HackneyAbbot) & come back on again when I return.”
Presenter Charlie Stayt asked: “Our top story today; later today Jeremy Corbyn will meet with other opposition party leaders as he looks to secure support for his plan to block a No Deal Brexit.
“Well Shadow Secretary [Sir] Keir Starmer joins us now from westminster. What do you want out of this meeting today?”
Starmer replied: “The purpose of the meeting is to bring opposition leaders together and try to agree a plan into next week.
“I think it’s really important we act swiftly because Prime Minister Johnson is taking us on this reckless route to a No Deal Brexit, which will have really important ramifications for our country and we have to stop him in that.
“And therefore the purpose of the meeting is to have a pretty frank and open discussion; to say to Boris Johnson as soon as we get back, ‘This parliament is not prepared to support a No Deal Brexit.’”
Starmer added opposition leader would “take on a united front to take Johnson on in this reckless approach that he’s got”.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am while BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One also at 6am.
