PGA Tour leaderboard LIVE: Dustin Johnson and Jason Day eye glory at WGC-HSBC Champions

The world number one, who has four PGA Tour wins to his name this year, will compete in the first of the 2017/18 World Golf Championship events.

Johnson, the 2013 HSBC Champions winner, has lifted four of the past eight WGC events.

The American, a 16-time winner on the PGA Tour, will tee off from the 10th hole alongside defending champion Hideki Matsuyama and Spain’s Jon Rahm.

Meanwhile, shot clocking will be introduced on tour in an effort to speed up play next year.

The European Tour will debut the Shot Clock Masters in Austria next year.

And Johnson has no problem with the concept.

“I think it would be very interesting,” he said.

“You’d see a lot of guys getting penalties on our Tour. Yeah, that would be quite fun, actually.

“I’d have plenty of time but there’s a lot of guys that wouldn’t. They would be getting a penalty on every hole.”
