Fans have waited patiently since the first reveals started to be teased by Blizzard last week and now it appears that we have our first look at the new Overwatch skins and game mode launching later this week.
The new Overwatch Insurrection event was confirmed today through a leaked video, giving fans a good look at what new aesthetic item will be up for grabs.
While not being shared by Blizzard directly, it appears to be the genuine Overwatch Insurrection trailer that will be released on Tuesday, April 11.
The new event will apparently start tomorrow and contain a revamped version of the Kings Row map, as well as new Overwatch skins.
“For a limited time, go back and relive one of the key moments in the history of Overwatch,” a leaked message explains.
NEWS: OVERWATCH ON NINTENDO SWITCH?
“Rally your friends and accompany Tracer in [her] first mission during the King’s Row insurrection, our new co-operative [mode and] discover the origins of some of your favorite heroes with more than 100 new items for Overwatch: Insurrection including skins, intro screens, emotes, tags, etc.
“Overwatch archives have been declassified, but this will only last until May 1st.”
It appears that the new mode will be a tweaked version of the one launched for Halloween, including players taking on waves of enemies.
The build up started last week with a Twitter teaser featuring a video for something linked to a King’s Road Uprising event that took place seven years ago.
“King’s Row uprising entering into record seven years ago. Security clearance required: confidential,” reads part of the message that flashes up on screen.
This was followed by a brand new Overwatch comic book called Uprising, which explores the story behind King’s Row’s omnic past.
And because it wouldn’t be an Overwatch event without a leak or two, the Xbox Live Marketplace may have lifted the lid on those brand new Overwatch Insurrection skins.

But as game director Jeff Kaplan points out, there’s more to this event than a new comic.
“We’ve heard the call that a lot of players want a non-real-world-tied event, meaning they want some sort of set event in the Overwatch world,” Kaplan told PCGamesN, before confirming that the event would have a playable element.
Kaplan then said that Blizzard had been listening to fan feedback, before revealing that new story details would drop soon.
“The event is going to be something – when players see the event and play the event, I think they’ll see that we’ve been listening to their feedback,” he continued.
“We’ve been hearing a lot of desire for more story, people want to know more about the story of Overwatch, they want to know more about the past of Overwatch.
“I think they want to know more about what’s going on between omnics and humans in this world and how did we get there. I think a lot of that will be answered for them.”
