Overwatch Halloween event release date, new SKINS, Torbjorn update, World Cup finals

game director Jeff Kaplan has revealed plans to bring back the Halloween Terror event for 2018.

In a brand new developer diary, Kaplan told fans to expect the Halloween Terror event soon.

Last year’s Halloween event had an October 10 release date, so expect this year’s version to launch on October 9 or October 16.

Kaplan also hinted at a brand new skin, telling fans that Junkenstein’s Monster would finally have a bride.

Halloween Terror also means the return of the Junkenstein’s Revenge game mode.

Kaplan warned that the game mode wouldn’t be radically altered, but would feature one or two minor tweaks.

Elsewhere, fans can expect other areas of the game to receive spooky decorations in time for Halloween.

Fans of Torbjorn will also be interested to hear that Blizzard is planning to make changes to the popular character.

Arguably the biggest change is that Torbjorn will no longer dish out armour to teammates. This also spells the end for the scrap system.

Kaplan said that the aim of the changes is to make Torbjorn a more acceptable pick on both attack and defence.

As such, he’ll have a new ability called Overload, which boosts movement speed, improves his damage resistance and even increases his rate of fire.

Turrets, meanwhile, stay at level two and can be tossed to previously unreachable areas.

His new Ultimate – while still named Molten Core – shoots out pools of liquid lava. Kaplan says it will do extra damage against armour.

The news comes after the latest round of World Cup matches ahead of BlizzCon.

The UK joined France in progressing to the Overwatch World Cup Finals at BlizzCon.

The final eight teams also include USA, Canada, China, Finland, South Korea and Australia.

Kicking off on November 2, France will play Canada, the USA face off against the UK, China play Finland and South Korea are pitted against Australia.
