The first ever episode of Outlander saw Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) touch the stones at Craigh Na Dun and travel back to the 18th Century where she met her second husband, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). She eventually returned to her own time at the end of season two to escape the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden. However, after 20 years apart and learning Jamie was still alive after the fight, Claire returned to 18th Century Scotland to reunite with the love of her life.
Claire has explained how she must have a precious stone to travel in time and can hear a buzzing noise when she approaches the stones.
Her daughter with Jamie, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) has the same ability and season four saw Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) learn he too could hear the buzzing sound.
Most recently, season five ended with Brianna and Roger learning their son Jemmy could hear the buzzing and they decided to return to their own time.
However, in a surprise twist for many fans of the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon, the family of three ended up back in 18th Century North Carolina.

“They trimmed off the last bit of dialogue, and people probably miss that, but they’ll enjoy the scene, regardless.
“And then there’s the window sill scene, of course, which I had a lot of fun with.
“That comes before the microscope scene, for obvious reasons.”
After a night of passion, Claire takes Jamie’s sperm and places it under her microscope to show him his “seed”.
Jamie was stunned by the revelation as his wife watched on in amusement.
The episode also saw Claire introduce a number of other items from her own time as she made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Brianna.
It’s safe to say Jamie wasn’t too impressed leaving fans even more desperate to see him travel to the future.
