Oprah Winfrey sparks frenzy with The One Show appearance: 'How did they manage that?'

Oprah was joined by her A Wrinkle In Time co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling to chat about the film directed by Ava DuVernay.

The chat show host and actress opened up about her role in the fantasy film and shot down claims she would for run for presidency in 2020.

Oprah opted for black suit and white shirt for her appearance on the show, which began with her sipping on a margarita with Angelica, Matt and her co-stars.

Her appearance on The One Show sparked a frenzy on social media, with many viewers questioning how the BBC had managed to organise an interview.

Taking to express their shock that Oprah was on their TV screens, one fan wrote: “How the hell did they manage to get Oprah on The One Show??!! #TheOneShow.”

Another added: “Oprah Winfrey on the #theoneshow ….what a treat!”

“Oprah looking fantastic at 64. Let’s hear it for the mature woman #TheOneShow,” a third shared.

While someone else continued: “Can you believe Oprah is 64? #TheOneShow.”

A fifth noted: “Wow mega booking for the One Show sofa tonight! #Oprah #Reece #Mindy #TheOneShow plus loving @angellicabell the dress is fab @BBCTheOneShow.”

During their chat on The One Show, the trio opened on their delight that Barbie dolls were created in the image of their characters.

Oprah went on to confess it was a “big deal” for her as she didn’t have Barbie dolls as a young girl because she couldn’t afford it.

Matt went on to ask if she had a favourite toy as a youngster: “Did you have a favourite toy? Maybe a teddy bear?”

“Did I have a favourite toy?” the star repeated before divulging: “No, no, no, too poor for a teddy bear, come on.”

Reese revealed she had a “dirty blanket” which she called “nighty night” and was furious when her mother washed it.

Meanwhile, Mindy noted she would give one of her Barbie dolls to her baby daughter and keep one to decorate her home.

The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.
